Kimia's POV 🖤.
" Anything yet?"
" It's something but it's not that much. So I was able to get a permit from the judge to visit the crime scene with the some police officers. We were looking for any evidence that might have been missed during your trial. We went at the surfaces with Fluorescein which helps to reveal old blood stains and we found some stains that had not been previously recorded.
There was a lot of blood covered surfaces that were not recorded in the original case. I took this evidence to the judge and he was willing to grant you a retrial."
" Really?" I asked in disbelief.
" Yes. We are going back to the scene to search for any other form of evidence. We need anything we can get-"
" I want to come with you." I said cutting him off.
" Are you sure?" He asked unsurely and I nodded.
" Kimia are you sure you're psychologically ready? You haven't been there since that day."
I gulped and bit on my bottom lip till I could taste blood.
He was right I wasn't sure if I would be able to handle the memories of that day. But I had to do it.
" I have to."
He gave me a curt nod.
" Alright then. I should be able to get you a few hours out of here. Anything will be enough."
" Thank you so much Jason. I really appreciate it."
" It's fine. I'm just doing my job."

I stood in silence as an ankle monitor was slapped onto leg. I was still in my jumpsuit cause I had no mind of changing. Jason stood beside me and when they were done, he led me towards his car. It was a sleek black Maserati.
" Nice car." I complimented and he grinned.
" Thanks. Now of we go!"
We got to the gate of the house and I sucked in a deep breath. I clenched my fists till I could feel my nails digging into my palm.
You can do this Kimia.
You can do this.
I can do this.
We entered into the compound and I was even more nervous than I was before. If Jason noticed my nervousness, he didn't say anything neither did he show any signs of knowing. He just stood by me.
" Let's go in."
The nostalgia hit me hard once I entered the house. I could remember how everything was arranged. I could remember everything I had ever did in each corner of the house. I looked around and found of our old decor but everything else was gone.
" Most of them got stained with blood and were taken as evidence." Jason explained and I nodded.
I stood there akwardly as everyone began working. I couldn't sit or touch anything because by doing so, I could be tampering with crucial evidence to my freedom. I toyed with my locket inside my pocket as I rocked on the balls of my feet.
" Kimia!" Jason called and I walked over to him.
" Do you know where this is?" He asked pointing at a seemingly strange door. I furrowed my eyebrows trying to remember what was behind the door but nothing came.
" What do you think it is?"
" I have no idea, I have never seen it or maybe never noticed it before."
" It's a digital lock system, best I've ever seen." A guy that guessing is a tech whiz said.
" Do you know anything that could possibly be the code?"
" My mum's birthday, 31st December."
" Wrong."
" His birthday, 4th of June."
" Wrong?"
" My birthday?, Uh…27th November."
" Wrong."
" I don't know any other possible code." I sighed.
" There's a key hole here but…it doesn't seem like it was made to fit a regular key."
" Everyone, look around for a key." Jason instructed. I took a closer look at the lock and narrowed my eyes. It was a small rectangular shaped hole, it wasn't shaped like a normal key hole. I brought out my locket and looked at it. It was about the same size as the hole. I shrugged and put it in.
The door clicked and then opened.
" Whoa!"
I walked into the room with Jason and two other officers in tow. My heart pounded loudly in my chest as I looked around the room. It was my dad's office, he had kept all his government related work here. There were pieces of paper with scribbles and drawings every where as well as files and blue prints. There was a picture of my mum and I on the table and I smiled.
What caught my eyes was a large monitor with its display divided into sections. I could see the other officers in the house. It was displaying the footage from the CCTV cameras I didn't even know existed.
" Is that what I think it is?" Jason asked and I nodded.
" I think we've just found our evidence."
