Damien's POV ♣️.
I was expecting to meet a lot of things when I got home. An empty apartment, an unruly closet, an un-lived in living room, an underused kitchen, a stressed Jason amongst many other things. But what I wasn't expecting was to meet my best friend making out with his girlfriend on OUR! Couch.
" Jesus! Jason get a damn room!" I exclaimed covering my eyes.
" Are you decent?"
" Couldn't you have knocked?" Jason huffed in annoyance. I took that as a ' yes' to my previous question and slowly uncovered my eyes.
" You seem to have forgotten that we share this apartment. I live here too." I replied showing him my bunch of keys.
" Hey Damien!" Rosa squeaked with flushed cheeks.
" Hey Rosa. How are you?"
" I'm great!"
" I can see that." I teased and she turned even redder.
" And Miguel?"
" As troublesome as ever. I regret him meeting Kimia. She's a bad influence on him." She then launched into the story of Miguel's latest plan. I shifted my gaze towards Jason who was listening attentively to everything she was saying. He found what he had been looking for. Love.
" How was today's meeting?" Jason asked and I shrugged.
" You didn't jump her?!"
I glared at him and he chuckled.
" We're just friends."
" And you're okay with that?" Rosa asked and I bit my lip.
" Thought so."
" She wants us to remain friends."
" Damien, Kimia doesn't know what she wants. Okay she does know, it's you. But she's never going to admit it."
" I don't want to push her."
" I know. That's why I'm here. I'll push her for you." Rosa mused.
" If you want to get her attention, then try a romantic gesture. Kimia loves those."
" Really?"
" Yeah. I'm not supposed to tell you this…but, she was hoping you would do something like that the day she left Havana. You know, try and stop the plane and stuff like that." Rosa said and I gaped.
" I thought she wanted to leave. That's why I didn't stop her. If I knew that's what she really wanted I would have stopped the car before she even left!" I exclaimed and she shrugged.
" If you want a grand gesture, we can help you think of something." Jason offered and I grinned.
***
" Damien!" Kimia screeched and I snapped my gaze from her legs and back to her face.
" Uhh?"
" Are you okay?"
" Yeah. I-uhm, I'm fine."
" You sure!"
" Positive."
" Okay. I asked you for your opinion. About the prototype."
" It's good. I guess."
" You guess?"
" It's sleek and effective but it's large and the recoil velocity is on the high side." I stated.
" And how do you think we can correct that?" She asked and I began explaining what I thought could make it better. She nodded slowly and then cocked her head to the side.
" Those are actually great ideas." She mused and I smiled.
" Kimia-"
I was cut off by her ringing phone.
" Hello?…yes. I know. I'm fine…no I'm at work. You don't have to come…"
I clenched my fists by my side as I watched Kimia speak. She had a bright smile on her face, a smile she only wore when she was talking to someone she loved.
" Love you too. Bye Henry…really?, Okay fine. Bye dad."
Henry.
Whew!, What a relief.
" Henry says hi."
" Okay."
" And he also wants me to inform you of the winter ball coming up."
" Winter ball?"
" Hey I'm as surprised as you are. Apparently it's for government agents. But seeing as you're one, you should know about it."
I saw a text from Jason that read,
" You're welcome."
I smiled at her then shrugged.
" I rarely attend social gatherings. But I might attend this year's ball."
" Cool."
" What about you?"
" I'm not sure yet."
" I hope you decided soon. It would be a great way of getting our minds off work and into the Christmas season." I said and she ' hmmed 'in response.
