Chapter 39 The News

Winters pov.

I lock eyes with Richard and I can feel his urgency to fix me to know what's wrong to protect me from all things big and small.

He won't be able to fix this. I know what's wrong with me. I'm pretty sure anyway.

If I'm right I'm pregnant again after all these years.

If I'm wrong...I'm departing from this world cause I'm sicker than shit right now.

"I think I'm pregnant."

Speechlessly he walks over picking me up from my seat to place me in his lap.

I snuggle my face into his shirt breathing in his scent.

It calms me down and makes me feel less nauseous. He kisses the top of my head while rubbing my back.

"Are you mad?" He asks a bit hesitantly.

I pull back to gaze in his eyes he's so nervous I wonder why. He's a great dad.

"No, I'll be happy."

He nods his head but still looks scared.

"Do you not want a baby?" I ask.

He grabs my head between his hands and gives me a sad look.

"Yes, I want lots of pups but I didn't ask you or talk to you about it while you were in heat and I just got into the twin's lives."

He takes a huge intake of air and huffs it out.

"I just don't want them mad at me or jealous cause I will love them the same even if I didn't change their poopy diapers."

I nod my head in understanding.

"We will tell them together. Okay?"

"Okay."

He kisses my nose and then goes back to rubbing my back.

"I love you," I tell him.

"I love you babe" He states then kisses my head again.

Two knocks sound off the door then it opens for the doc to trout in.

"Luna...Alpha." He gulps loudly.

"You never leave your Luna in a waiting room again you hear me? You won't make that mistake twice."

He growls.

He's only gonna get worse once he knows

I'm with child.

"I'm terribly sorry Alpha we were extremely busy and I had to have your permission to treat her Alpha please accept my sincere apology."

"Get on with it what's wrong with her. Is my mate pregnant or what?"

"Yes Alpha she very mich is with child. It's still early so at eight weeks we will take your first ultrasound, Luna. We will keep once a month appointments until you're second trimester. You only have two being a wolf. Around twelve weeks we can determine the sex of the pup and labor at twenty-two weeks.

" Anything we can do about her being sick?" Richard inquires.

"I'm afraid not it has to run its course Alpha but crackers and ginger ale will help keep the vomiting down and something in her tummy. Also, Id like to prescribe some prenatal vitamins. It will keep you healthy Luna."

"Okay great. Get me that so I can go home and go back to bed, please." I tell the doc.

"Yes, Luna."

He leaves in a hurry can't say I blame the man.

"Where're the pups?"

"Well...I was feeling so bad I just wanted to come straight here without all the questions so I called Peter because he's doing beta duties now and didn't know who to call on such short notice."

I say a bit guilty. Damn!

"Really...Mr. Ugly? Why him of all wolves?"

He shakes his head.

I don't say anything. What would I say? Peter is Lilly's mate and I want him to be around the family. Richard would never allow it.

"He hasn't proved his worth to me and the pack to be bonding with our daughter babe. I've gave him a house a beta position to work for only time will tell if he wants to really be our daughters mate Winter."

"Look"

I give him a serious face.

"Peter can come around every once in awhile his wolf will drive him nuts otherwise plus it will give him something to strive for you know"

"I don't like it he should stay away till shes fifteen or older."

"It's not like she knows and it won't be very often since I heard his schedule is quite busy thanks to you."

"Well, now it will stay that way thanks to you so his invite will be less so."

I smack his chest.

"You don't put him through too much Richard he's a kind loving young man."

Annnd then he has the audacity to start laughing like bend over laughing!

What the hell was so funny?

"What are you flipping laughing about?"

He just continues to laugh like it's so damn funny and I ain't figured out what it is that exactly is funny! How annoying!

"Richard!"

"Okay sorry, I'm done I promise."

I give him a raised eyebrow meaning tell me you butt.

"I'm not so sure a nice loving guy is gonna cut it, babe, for the beta. We'll see how he is once he's done training with Tanner and Josh. Josh, I'm not so worried about."

"Why? What the hell are you talking about Richard?"

I'm so fed up with the speaking around the bush and with my hormones, I'm able to explode on him right now!

"Training as a warrior is tuff business. He will be trained to be our son's beta. It's no easy task hun. War changes wolves to make you realize things does things to a man. You won't understand where I'm coming from cause you will never be in danger. You have me and the pack. Our daughter will need a strong man to take care of her let me handle it. Okay?"

"Don't let him die Richard promise me you will look after him for Lilly's sake please!"

"I can't promise you in war he won't die but I will promise you I'll treat ugly like a son and I won't let him die if I can help it. Alright?"

"I trust you, Richard. I know you will do what needs to be done for Lilly just don't be too hard on him."

"Babe he will have to toughen up I can't help that. It's part of life really and he accepted my terms all of em he's not a pup no more he will eat or be eaten. Fight or die. Its a part of who we are."

I nod.

I don't want Peter to change I love him the way he is he's perfect for Lilly chosen straight from the Moon Goddess herself for our Lilly.

Maybe she seen all the stuff he'd have to endure to love Lilly and knew he was the one for the job.

Who knows these type of things.

I lean in and plant a kiss on Richard's lips and whisper I love you.

He looks into my eyes with such love an tells me he loves me too and gives me a much deeper kiss.

It quickly becomes heated deeper neither one wanting to let up.

Someone clears their throat.

I can feel my cheeks burn with the humiliation of being caught in the doctor's office.

"Alpha. Luna, I have your prescription. You are free to take off please stop by the receptions deck for your next appointment and congratulations on the new addition to the family and pack."

"Thank you."

"Much appreciated doc," Richard informs him.

Then he lifts me up to carry me out making me giggle.

"Richard put me down." I giggle harder as he shakes his head in refusal.

"No, I have much to make up for not being there for you with the pups. I will do all I can now to help you be comfortable."

I love this man. Maybe not at first but he's hard not to love I tell yea.

He's been nothing but kind and loving and completely understanding and patient since I've come back and that makes me love him all the more without the bond that ties us.
