Melody's point of view~
Think about perfection.
What is the first thing that pops into your mind? Is it beauty? Color? Familiarity? Maybe brightness or positivity? Acceptance. Understanding. Happiness. Popularity. Honesty. Is it what is depicted in books, novels, and movies?
For me, it's familial love. It's a little birdie flying by and singing it's favorite tune. It's seeing the sun set at night and rise again in the morning. It's reading a book under a tree in the park. It's painting on my easel in the garden. It's going for a swim at the beach. It's all breakfast foods. It's the smell of vanilla. It's a flower finally blossoming. It's drinking from a coconut. It's listening to music. It's having passion and empathy.
"Mellie! It's time to wake up, honey!" I'm awaken by mum yelling from downstairs. I stretch my arms and rub my eyes. I got to go get Luc up. I reluctantly leave my comfy bed and groggily make my way out my room and down the hall. Peeking through the door I realize he's already up and moving. I yawn before going into his room. He sensed my presence and ran over to me smiling. He showed me the book in his hands. One of our animal scrapbooks. Pictures we've taken at the zoo.
"You want to go, Luc?" I got on my knees and smiled down at my little ray of sunshine. He jumped up and down and started clapping. I laughed and nodded in agreement. Causing him to run into my arms for a hug. I picked him up and carried him downstairs with me to find mum. We found mum and pops at the back of our home diner placing waffles and blueberry pancakes on a plate.
"Good morning, mum." I let my ray of sunshine down to go run over to pops. I walked over to mum and kissed her cheek. She smiled at me and tied her apron.
"Breakfast is ready, honey. We're about to open up now." She informs me as she pulls her hair into a messy bun and yanks me into a motherly hug.
"I know, it smells delicious as always mum." I compliment her. She let's go and blows me a kiss on her way out after the bell chimes in the front. I walk over to see dad ruffling Luc's hair, and him giggling.
"Good morning, pops." I place a kiss on his cheek as well. He looks up and smiles at me while pouring syrup on Luc's waffles.
"Morning, sweetie. How was your sleep?" He replies as he serves Luc his breakfast. Luc walked over to me so we could eat together.
"Very refreshing. How about you?" I smile softly at him and Luc tugs on my arm. I look down to see that he put his plate down and grabbed mine for me. I thank his as I accept it.
"Better than yesterday. Got to go to bed early last night." He puts the syrup back in the fridge and throws a bright smile my way. Then grabs his apron to get ready for the day.
"Great! Luc and I are heading over to the zoo today after breakfast." I let him know as Luc comes back again with his waffles. He says to have fun and smiles as he goes to help mum at the front counter.
I walk out hand in hand with Luc to help him find a table since he's already dressed to leave. I found one close to the register and put my plate down. Mum came by with the forgotten silverware and I asked her if she can keep an eye out for him while I go back upstairs to get dressed. Then I headed back to my room to find an outfit. I put on a dress and some sandals, then adjusted my necklace before heading back down.
I was about to sit down and eat, but the door chimed, and someone came in seeming lost. Both my parents are busy. My dad is cooking, and mum is listening to girl around my age to take her order. I told Luc I was going to help them and to walk over if he needs anything. He nodded at me while chewing a mouthful of food. I smiled and started walking.
That nice elderly man mixed up the address he was supposed to meet his daughter and grandkids at. I gave him the directions to the nearby restaurant. He said he was grateful, promised to stop by some other time and left.
Again, I was about to go back to my seat. But then I witnessed the most enchanting sound I've ever heard. I looked over and saw a stunning girl laughing on a call with someone.
Her skin sun kissed. Hair, long and flowy. The bottom half of her dark hair dyed blueberry blue. Her long legs wearing ripped jeans that fit her curves just right and lead up to her black top. Her full lips, petite pierced nose, and equally piercing deep blue eyes. She's intimidatingly attractive.
I watch her movements and the way she talks. I admire the expressions she makes. When she smiles or rolls her eyes. The way she leans against the wall so casually. Her stance shows a natural confidence.
There is an elegance about her presence without her having to do anything. A free spirit.
And before I know it, I'm falling backwards. A pair of strong arms caught me with a tender grip. Then released after helping steady me. I stayed looking at the floor for a second as I regain balance.
"You okay, Angel?" Came a silvery voice with a lovely unplaceable accent. I know it's her even before I look up and can feel my cheeks heating up. She called me angel. I started stuttering out a response, even if I don't know what it is that I said. Stuttering is a nervous habit of mine. My face starts to feel like it's on fire as she looks me over. She ended up complimenting my dress and I thanked her. Her earnest eyes focused on mine as I hesitated on asking for her name. "Bliss. You?" She responds plainly, clearly wanting to get it out of the way. I think it's a gorgeous name though.
I introduce myself politely and stick my hand out. Immediately I flush and second-guess my decision. A handshake is too formal. This isn't an interview, though one can assume it is by how nerve-wracking I'm feeling on the inside right now. I must look like a mess. I turn my head, but I can't seem to keep my eyes away from her. When she calls me angel again in her response and squeezes my hand before shaking, I feel a spark run through my whole body. I'm completely paralyzed.
I'm so entranced that I hardly acknowledge my own actions, let alone the girl who came bolting over to us. No, it wasn't until I felt tight arms around me that I became aware of my surroundings. It snapped me back to reality. I heard the lovely voice tell the girl to release me. When she moves back and pouts at her friend, I'm able to see her more clearly.
She's a bit taller than me. She has curly red hair. She's wearing a traditional Indian necklace and a sari shirt. She mixed skinny jeans and a lot of leather to add her own stylish touch.
She's pretty. And certainly, a hugger.
When she asked my name, I introduced myself again. I fiddled with my hands to stop myself from sticking it out like before. Something tells me I don't have to be so formal.
"This is Nova." Bliss offers as her friend starts squealing happily. I giggle at her bubbly personality and feel my cheeks instantly become hot when I hear a certain enchanting sound again.
Nova asks if I would like to eat with them, but before I could say anything about my table, she mentions them going to the zoo. Fun fact, if I get distracted from nervousness or excited, I lose the stutter.
"The zoo! So are we!" I can feel my own excitement as my smile starts hurting my cheeks. I also pointed over to Luc, who just happened to look over at me. He smiled at us with a syrup filled face.
Nova shouted my thoughts of his preciousness and ran to the table. I quickly realized that left me alone with Bliss again. She was watching the redhead run over to Luc. While she was distracted, I got to finally focus on her close up.
She is breathtaking.
From up close I could see two beauty marks on her face. One above her lip and the other on her opposite cheek. On the other though, she has a long scar. It makes her look even tougher than I already assume that she is. A scar, just like a tattoo, has a story or a memory behind it. And if you get to see it, this means they are still moving forward despite it. Scars show strength.
Though the most obvious one is on her gorgeous face, there are others that can be seen along both of her arms. Who could possibly do this to somebody? It makes no sense. No one deserves that.
Especially not her.
Even if she is dangerously attractive, I don't think she would hurt anyone. At least not without a reason. There would be a purpose behind it. There is no moral reasoning for why someone would want to taint her perfect skin. Her perfect smile. Her perfect laugh. Her perfect body. Her perfect voice.
I've thought about the word perfection. And I think Bliss is the definition.
A squeeze on my shoulder startled me from my own thoughts. I've been caught staring; I blush a deep scarlet. Bliss's expression shows concern and she asked me to verify if I'm okay. I rub my red ears and smile as nervous insensitive word vomit escapes my lips. I quickly try to take back my words without being disrespectful. But it was too late.
Her normally enchanting laugh came out almost counterfeit. Pain flashed in her immaculate ocean blues. A split second of vulnerability passing by so quick I could think I imagined it.
She was quick to gracefully switch the conversation back to Nova and my little brother. I smiled in my best attempt to add support. And I made sure to stammer out some basic information about my brother. She was very polite and didn't seem to falter about anything.
I cannot imagine a better start to my day. Valentines miracle.
