Sense and Sensibility

I slept in the next day, which was Sunday. As soon as I woke up I got my phone and checked for messages. There was a message from my mom "Went to Denny's with Jason for breakfast. Text me if you want anything." There were two messages from Raiden, one was his unopened message from last night and another one from this morning. "Good Morning! Wakey, Wakey, eggs and gravy!" I wonder where he got that cute egg emoji. I don't think my phone has it. I couldn't help but smile. Mark still hasn't replied. I wonder what he's up to.

I went downstairs to make some iced tea. I can never get used to this much humidity. I think I'm turning into a prune. By this time, it's starting to get cold in New York already. I saw my mom sitting in the living room with a book. "I thought you guys went to Denny's?" I asked, feeling confused.

"That's two hours ago, honey. I brought you back some pot roast. I know you order that all the time when we go there."

"Yum! I'm starving! Where's Jason?"

"He went to the park with Mark to play basketball and try out his new shoes."

I transferred the pot roast on to a plate and heated it up in the microwave. "How was your shopping trip? Did you buy anything interesting?"

"Not really, I got some flats since they were on sale. They were buy one get one 50% off. It's in my room, I got you the other pair."

"I'll check it out later after I eat."

"How was your date?" She asked.

"It was ok," I wondered if I should tell her about the book. "I didn't know Rocklin was that far but Jason will love that movie theater." I told her about the theater set up and the Japanese store.

"That sounds interesting, I guess we can go next week. We'll see how my schedule will work out." Sometimes her boss asks her to work weekends, depending on the monthly shifting schedules they are given at the hospital. I decided not to tell her about the book. Not yet, at least until I figure out how I feel.

After lunch, I went to my room to do my homework for the next day. I usually procrastinate and do it on Sunday night but I wanted to read the novel that Raiden got me. I know that once I get started, I won't be able to put it down. I tend to get engrossed in whatever reading I do if I like the book. I also wanted to see Mark when he drops off Jason later. I kinda miss him. I wish I can talk to him about Raiden but for some reason, I find myself hesitating to bring up Raiden when I'm with him. I see how he reacts to him and I'm guessing they're not friends and Raiden is not a welcome subject for him.

I had finished all my homework and Jason's not back yet. I decided to take a warm bubble bath. I filled the tub and played music on my phone then settled into the tub. Maybe I should just go for it like what Therese advised. I think Raiden is sweet and I feel that he's being sincere.

A few minutes into the tub, I heard a door slam downstairs. Jason's home. I rinsed hurriedly and got dressed. By the time I was running down the stairs, Jason was on his way up. "Where's Mark?" I asked.

"He said he needed to go. He just dropped me off."

"Oh, I see." My heart fell. Is he avoiding me? I decided to just get back into the tub. I texted him, "Hey, what's up? Too busy to say hi to me?"

He texted back thirty minutes after, which was weird. He usually texts back ASAP when I text him. "Sorry, my mom asked me to run some errands." Then nothing else. I can sense that there's something wrong here. Is he jealous of Raiden? But he hasn't told me that he likes me and when someone asks if we're a couple he was always the first one to deny it. It just doesn't make sense to me.
