Chapter 1: Genetic Abnormality

"Here you go. This is easy to use, just click the buttons and design how you want your baby to look like." said the doctor. The woman picked up the tablet excitedly and clicked the options. She wanted her baby to have blond hair, blue eyes and  be intelligent. She passed the tablet back to the man. He replied "Anything else?".  "No thank you." The woman replied happily. The man nodded and left the room, she sat there and stared at the TV mounted on the wall. She flicked through the channels until she reached the news channel. "Breaking News. A man has been recently put into quarantine by the GCB after he had been diagnosed with a genetic abnormality. Public is told not to worry as the situation is under control. The GCB quoted 'As of now Gene Tests will be mandatory to determine the health of people. Failure to do so may result in sanctions. Thank you.' For further news stay tuned to World Affairs News." The woman turned off the TV and fell asleep.

A few years later...

The alarm clock rang. The boy sleepily swatted at the alarm clock only to realise the alarm was in his head. "I hate this invention." he murmed and got out of his bed. The alarm stopped once he got out of bed. The alarm was implanted into the chip in his head. The chip did many things, you could listen to music without earphones or headphones. You could link it with any device, and could even search the internet inside your head. One of the nasty perks was a built-in alarm clock, no matter how hard he tried he could never turn it off. He walked over to his wardrobe and got inside, it sprayed on his school uniform and he left the wardrobe. The future was great he thought, never had he ever needed to do anything, everything had been automated. He walked downstairs and went to the table where his breakfast was already prepared, "Hi mom." he said. She turned around from the oven and replied "You're awake early." she smiled "I made you breakfast!". The only thing that wasn't automated was food preparation, his mum insisted on cooking rather than letting the oven do it itself. To be fairly honest he thought, her cooking was way better than the oven's. "Here is your packed lunch" she said happily "After school, don't forget to get some groceries.". "I won't mum" he replied. He finished eating and his mum took the plates "Thanks mum." he replied. She nodded and put the dishes in the sink which cleaned themselves. She smiled. The boy grabbed his bag and left the house.
