Second Year Menaces III

With his unconscious patient on the bed, Yuliang waited for his supervisor to arrive at the Healing Bay.

"Can't you do something now? Isn't waiting so long going to lower his chances of full recovery?" demanded the tall, dark-skinned Kulonian woman who had barged into the Bay not long after Yuliang had settled his patient down on the bed and contacted Professor Belmont. Yuliang hadn't cared to kick her or her friend out because they claimed to be close friends of the patient and had done a good job of keeping the other curious students out.

Yuliang really couldn't do anything right now because he was currently a new intern. He didn't have the autonomy to perform procedures like limb regrowth without a Senior Healer supervising him first and giving him the green light for future procedures.

"Look! What part of I'm not fucking allowed to, do you not understand?" Yuliang finally snapped. "Yeah, sometimes waiting makes it more difficult for Healers to recover the arm in perfect condition, but that's only if they're fucking incompetent! I am not incompetent, so shut the fuck up and wait for my supervisor to get here! How did this moron even manage to fuck up his arm like this?"

"Watch your mouth, brat," the Nordish-looking man beside her growled, silver eyes flashing. Yuliang sneered at him, not cowed by his aggressive body language one bit. Enforcing student or not, Yuliang bet he could make this bitch cry in an actual fight.

The Kulonian woman sighed, placing an arm on her friend's shoulder to calm him down, then ruffling her afro in agitation, "Seth overloaded his arm with Energy during combat, I think. I'm honestly not too sure. It all just happened so fast. His muscles on his arm just started to swell up, and then it exploded."

Yuliang made a note of the new information with a tight nod.

The woman collapsed onto a chair, rubbing a hand over her face. "He really should have known better than to do that, but he's been pushing himself too hard, too fast for a while now. I suppose an accident was bound to happen eventually."

"Can you blame him, though? The bar is already set high for him with trying to match up to Conrad and Lorcan's level, but now he has to compete with his 13 year old brother for recognition as well."

A lightbulb went off in Yuliang's head, and he couldn't help but wonder if the man was related to his student, "Elys Rydel?"

The silver-eyed man, who was much calmer now, turned to him and nodded, "Yeah. You know him?"

Yuliang shrugged, "In passing. He is in the Healing program."

"For 'perfect Energy control'," the man mocked, crossing his arms over his chest and glaring at a wall. "So, fucking annoying. I hate that brat. My folks wouldn't stop talking about it the whole summer either. None of the people in Society did."

The woman made a noise in agreement, "Pretty sure the entire country was talking about it. Even my parents heard about it, and they live in Arken, Kulon."

"I don't get it. What's so great about that piece of shit? There are so many other important things to talk about, like the war recovery efforts in the west or that new mine they're planning on building in the south. Instead of worrying about anything actually important, everyone's just talking about some spoiled brat and his 'perfect Energy control'."

The woman nodded with a furious scowl and glanced at their unconscious friend briefly before quietly muttering, "All because they are fucking aristocrats…"
