Meeting his family.

Maya walked into the lobby as she saw the receptionist sitting there. She gave Maya a big smile and said, "Congratulations madam!"

As Maya waited for the elevator to arrive, she asked her, "What are you talking about?"

"I heard that you are getting engaged by the end of this month? Mrs. Martin is so happy about it. In fact the entire Martin family is. She has been going around telling everyone that she will be inviting them to yours and Mr. Lucas's wedding next year!"

The receptionist said all things in one go, it was as if she had expected Maya to ask this and had deliberately learned all these lines.

But at the moment, Maya was a bit too muddle headed to notice this.

She quickly said in a friendly manner, "No~ What are you talking about? Even I do not know about this and look at you. I want you to do me a favor, okay?"

Although Maya knew that what she was going to do next is very shameful, she still decided to do it. Maya handed the receptionist some good amount of money and told her to stop saying this and to stop anyone who talks about this.

"I would be really thankful to you if you do so. If you hear anyone talking about it, just tell them that these are just some baseless rumors, okay?"

Maya was feeling very guilty right now. She knew that out of all the people involved in this indecent, she was the first person who had nothing to feel guilty about, but at the moment she could not help but panic a bit for the Martin family.

After that she entered the elevator and pressed the fifth floor button.

She remembered that when she had come to this place for the first time, it was to buy this flat for Lucas's family, she had come here with Lucas. Both of them had wanted to take a flat which was at a lower floor, because one never knew when Lucas's father might have a relapse and had an emergency. If that time ever came, wouldn't it be better if they did not have long waiting time for elevators or huge amount of staircases?

They could not get a flat at the first or the second floor, so the dealer told them that the flat available closest to ground was on the fifth floor but the only problem was that it's rate was very high.

Maya then decided to pay half of the amount for the flat from her savings while the rest was paid by Lucas's family.

Meanwhile the receptionist looked at her hand full of cash, today she had earned quite a lot, first it was Lucas who gave her some money to 'say some things' and now it was Maya who gave her money to stop saying the same things! Ha!

"She gave me much more than Mr. Lucas... I guess this is the difference between the rich and stingy people like Mr. Lucas." The receptionist rambled on.

"When first I had heard that this Mr. Lucas let his girlfriend pay for everything in his house, I did not believe it! But last time when they had visited, I could see that Miss Maya was very generous. She had brought small presents for all of the workers and asked us to take good care of her 'boyfriends' parents'. No wonder she does not want to marry him anymore. She must be tired of taking care of her in-laws so much even before their marriage."

...

*Ding* The elevator reached the fifth floor and Maya got out. She noticed that the door was closed and thought that maybe Lucas had not arrived yet. She then called Lucas intending to ask him about where he was.

"Hello...?" A person with disinterested voice picked up the phone, it was the voice of Mrs. Martin.

"Um... hello aunty. It's me, Maya. Actually I had called to check if Lucas had reached but now it seems that he is with you." Maya said politely.

"Oh... Ooh! Maya, it's you! Wait let me open the door, you have come up, right? Lucas! Go and open the door! Maya is here!" Mrs. Martin was almost shouting with excitement.

*clack*

Suddenly the door in front of Maya opened, it was Lucas who opened it. He had a weird expression on his face, it was as if he was blaming Maya for what all that was going to happen now.

This time however, Maya did not take it lightly and glared at him back with double intensity. It was not her who had to be blamed but Lucas himself.

Not expecting this reaction from her, Lucas made a guilty face and changed the topic, "You do not need to worry... even I had just arrived, you are not late."

"I don't care about that, why would I worry about it?" Maya said in a low voice so as to only both of them could hear her words.

"Hello aunty! How are you? And how is uncle doing?" Maya cheerfully said, she did not want to be serious since the beginning and spoil everyone's mood. "Where is he, inside?"

Both Maya and Mrs. Martin then headed inside to meet Mr. Martin; Lucas's father.

Lucas scoffed at Maya's behavior. "I guess she really considered my mother and father as her own. Too bad-" Lucas stopped and headed inside, Maya had taken out some tonics as she handed them to his parents.

"These energy drinks are very good for health, it is not necessary to be ill to take them, you can drink them on regular basis. The instructions are inside." Maya explained to them.

"These are so expensive! There was no need for you to bring them this time. The ones you had brought on your last visit are still kept untouched!" Mr. Martin said.

Although it was not seen on his face, he was in fact really very embarrassed to face Maya. He had tried to explain his wife and son several times, that they should not take so much of advantage of this girl, but they never listened to him. Gradually, his conscience was also taken over by greed and then he avoided talking about this.

They talked for some time...

Soon Maya thought that maybe it was time to break the news to them. She got a bit serious.

"Yeah... So... uncle, aunty-" Maya looked at them with an apologetic look, "This time, Lucas and I came here to tell you about something."
