(N/A: This chapter might be a little wonky, since I, finally tried to do an entire chapter, in first person only, but as you can tell, I'm not so proficient with it, and screwed up pretty bad.
However, I still need to get this chapter out, so please bear with me; the reason why I'm not rewriting it, is because I don't want to stick to third-person, and this might help me with improving. If you see this, and have some constructive criticism, please, please comment it :D)
(My third perspective might not be the best either lol)
[The story is available on, "Wattpad", as well, and may be more understandable, because, "italics", and, "bolds", aren't use-able on Webnovel.]
Are my eyes getting worse...
Or, is that a GLOWING PLANT?
Wait...
My hands released tree root, relieving the pulsing strain in my wrist, from the excess strength I had used to grab it.
With only a second of delay, before they flew to my face, aggressively rubbing my eyes, perhaps in a way to reject, or refuse the abnormal sight in front of me
..Glowing ginseng?
...
What?
I stared blankly, as my entire mind started to question my existence;
Are glowing plants normal?
.
.
.
Wait...Then...If plants can glow...Can I glow too?
.
.
.
Is it radioactive? Nah...Probably not...It's not glowing green...
.
.
.
But, is ginseng, a root, or a plant?
.
.
.
If I eat it, will I glow too?
.
.
.
Does this ginseng know how to cultivate? Is that why it's glowing?
.
.
.
...So...THE GINSENG IS A HUMAN?
.
.
.
What am I saying?
Facepalms.
Plants can't move.
.
.
Ah, anyway, let's stop blabbering, and take a better look--
I narrowed my eyes, as I started to stare blankly towards the laying, tan, ginger-like ginseng; before puffing my cheeks up in slight frustration, well knowing that any more reasoning, was completely futile, and useless.
After all, I still don't even know, with the slightest clue, of where I am.
I only have the blurry, barely- comprehensible memories of the body's host, to assist me, with the addition of my, now family.
To be frank, it does become rather exasperating, when the difference between the wealthy, and poor shows itself, like right now;
The restrictions towards books, the restrictions of freedom-- even listing more than two hundreds of, "restrictions", wouldn't do us justice;
From all the discrimination, and poor-shaming I've tolerated, and watch happened, it seems that, apparently, we're merely wooden, chess pieces.
Who, are waiting around in small huts, patiently awaiting our concluding end, whether by, "honorable", sacrifices, or by other ways, we can be, "utilized."
It's rather upsetting.
Anyhow, if I had books, my confusion would've been solved in a quick second, but that's probably not going to happen soon, like I said 3 years ago.
...
Neo impatiently fluttered his eyelashes, before his forehead gently creased into a small frown, while his lips pulled into a roseate pout, veiling a child-like expression across his tiny, lovable face.
"Mama..." Neo witlessly groaned before he started to struggle around in my arms, regularly rotating his torso, almost demanding me to set him down on the floor; shaking me out of my thoughts.
Yet, despite that, my arms didn't budge, perhaps, it mainly because of the muscle I had built throughout the years, hence, they were pretty much motionless, that is, if I resisted, but nonetheless, I didn't pay any attention to my restless, and hyperactive toddler.
"Mama..."
"Just a second, dear."
I kept my sights glued to the red-veined ginseng, as my eyes squeezed, trying to enhance my vision, while my attention switched a target, occasionally, going from Neo to the root, every-so-often; almost infuriating enough for me to yell out in annoyance; "j...JUST LEAVE ME ALONE MY CHILD."
Sighs.
It's sure hard to take care of children
More or less, be a mother.
.
.
.
Whooo...
But, I need to concentrate...
.
.
.
Concentrate...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Hm?
Why can't I hear anything?
Everything... became...silent?;
The rustling of bamboo leaves became nearly audible, while the flowing, calm demeanor of the smooth, slabs of rock, which laid, stock-still on the dirt floor, acting much like crooked stairs, became ever-so silent, before leisurely, dissipating into shards.
.
.
.
.
The once, seemingly, danger-lurking terrain seemed to levitate gradually, shifting to the shape of my feet, before it's sharp angles, slanted straight, rotating to itself into a flat piece of ground; stirring a sense of welfare, and reassurance in my quivering chest.
While the dark green, hue blurred uncannily into white; as my eyes carved out only me, the ginseng, and Neo's figure, from the forest, before painting them into the pure, blank, canvas-like surrounding.
.
.
.
I closed my eyes for a moment, still assuming that the ginseng's radiance, was most likely produced by my visualization; more or less, I had a sense of doubt residing in my gut, that bugged me to no end.
.
.
.
It's warm...
I looked around curiously, exploring the mysterious setting, with my eyes alone.
.
.
.
"Mama, where are we?"
Huh..?
"Neo?"
"Hm? What is it, mama?"
Wait a second.
I thought this was my consciousness.
If it isn't...Then...Where the hell am I?
Did I transmigrate again?
Ohh, nononononono.
"Can you see me?" I asked as I stared attentively onto his face, eagerly waiting for his answer.
"Yep!" Neo responded as a small smile casted itself over his soft cheeks, completely oblivious to the current situation he was in, sparing no hint of worry, despite that I was starting to have profound anxiety crawl up my skin.
I looked around again, scanning everything, even though, there was absolutely nothing, no matter how far you looked, no matter how long you looked, nor where you'd look either-
Ah?
That ginseng is still here?
.
Darn, I saw it's silhouette earlier, but I thought it was only because it shines...Like that.
...
I...
If I can get that, maybe my mother will have a higher chance of surviving...
Wait, no, think rationally Elizabeth.
That's a stupid idea, who the hell knows what will happen, if I...
Plus...Neo's in here too...
Ah...Maybe the ginseng is the exit ticket?
Yeah.
I'm going to take it.
Two birds, with one stone, yep.
That's exactly it.
With eyes, flaring up with dedication, and motivation, I lept towards the tanned ginseng, while carelessly holding Neo in my arms;
Boop.
Oh, my finger touched it...

...What?-

"Then darkness erupted."
