Recognition.

He turned around to pick up his phone from his van. When he got to where she was standing, he turned on the flashlight so they could both see the other's face.

There was a flicker of recognition in both their eyes as they stared at each other with keen interest.

Dan blinked as he stared at her; looking about 5ft 6in tall, she had a really long curly chestnut-colored hair and a heart-shaped face with full lips. Her small turned-up nose had a dent at the middle of the bridge and a protruding tip. And her eyes... her eyes were a dark brown, reminding him of brandy.

She had a compact and well-built body from the little he could see, and she did have small breasts, which he could tell were almost non-existent, but with the help of the push-up bra she was wearing.

Dan's chest felt really tight, and his vision was slightly blurred by tears as he looked into her eyes. He felt a sense of indescribable sadness as he looked at her, and he could have sworn that he knew her from somewhere or had seen her somewhere, but he couldn't tell where.

He had a nagging feeling that he didn't just know her in passing. He felt like she was someone he had deeply communicated with, yet he knew he had never spoken with her until today. Unless, of course, he must have seen her in the midst of his fans during shows.

Bella observed Dan in the same manner in which he observed her. He was 6ft 7in tall, with black shaggy crop hair. His eyes were surprisingly blue and shone intelligently.

Bella's heart ached, and her vision was slightly blurred by tears as she looked into his eyes. A feeling of indescribable sadness washed over her as she looked at him. She had a nagging feeling inside of her that she knew him from somewhere or had seen him somewhere, but she couldn't tell where.

She could have sworn that she didn't just know him in passing but had actually lived with him and had a deep kind of connection with him, yet she knew she had never spoken to someone like him until today.

She quickly blinked as a tear dropped from her eyes. What was wrong with her all of a sudden? Why was she suddenly feeling so sad? She wondered with a frown, and she raised her head to look into his face when she heard him clear his throat.

His full and bushy eyebrows were quirked expectantly. "Yes? Did you say something?" She asked Dan, who seemed to have quickly recovered from whatever it was that he had been feeling.

"Do you recognize me or not?" He asked again, waiting to accuse her of lying.

"I don't. Am I supposed to?" She asked with an equally raised brow.

"Never mind. Since I don't know you, and neither do you know me, I suggest we go our separate ways now," Dan suggested before turning off his flashlight.

"Wait! I don't know where this place is," Bella told him shamefacedly.

"Yet you claimed you were hitching a ride? Where are you headed, if I may ask?" His eyes widened in surprise when he saw the hesitation in her eyes.

"You are the lady who caused trouble at the cinema? You were the one those men were looking for?" He asked, unable to hide the disbelief in his voice.

"What should we do about our current predicament?" Bella asked, ignoring his question.

"We? Did I just hear you say we? There is no we. I don't know you," Dan told her and returned to pick up a bottle of whiskey from his van. He walked away from her without waiting for a response.
