One Week.

"Fired? What? No! Why?" She asked with that same confused look on her face again.

She tried to recall if she had been adding 'sir' to all she had been saying since she arrived but realised she had probably stopped adding the honorific title after her first sentence. That had to be the reason he was asking her that.

As much as she still did not like him, she wanted this job and loved the money more than her pride. It was her means of getting the gender reassignment surgery, after all. She was willing to pretend like she had never seen him in her life if that was what it would take to keep the job.

He crossed his hands over his chest and leaned against the wall lazily, "Is there nothing positive about you? Why are you bent on showing and telling me everything negative?"

Bella considered his words very briefly, "My bad. I naturally assumed you would prefer to hear those ones first.. sir," Bella said as she tried to think of a good thing to say about herself. She was sure he wasn't interested in hearing about how kind-hearted she was or about her personality.

She decided to settle for the abilities she was so proud of, "I'm an excellent artist, and I can fight very well," She told him with a proud smile.

"Really? Impressive," He said with a curt nod and resumed walking again.

"We have a lot to do before we head out..."

"Head out?"

Dan gave her a look that told her he didn't like being interrupted and then went on like he hadn't heard her, "I need to input your data in the security system and then show you around the house. I've noticed you have a penchant for touching things. I don't want you roaming around my property unattended and touching things you shouldn't," Dan concluded before stopping in front of a door.

"Your bedroom will have to be in close proximity to mine, so you can easily reach me in the case of an emergency. You'll be using this bedroom. Mine is the door next to yours," Dan said, pointing to his bedroom door, which was just a few feet away.

"Meet me by the door in ten minutes," Having said so, Dan walked away without another word.

Bella pushed open her room door and gasped in astonishment. Her bedroom was like a hotel room, maybe finer than most, not that she had been to any, anyway.

She dropped her luggage box on the floor as she looked around the room in awe. The bed was a round king-sized bed which looked like a huge golden throne seat.

She walked further into the room and noticed it was decorated in gold and purple colours, apart from the red centre rug. There was so many expensive-looking furniture, and she was almost scared to touch them.

Why would he decorate a visitor's bedroom this beautifully? Which visitor would want to leave after spending the night in such a tastefully furnished room? She wondered as she looked up at the ceiling. Oh! Even the chandelier looked too beautiful, though all chandeliers looked beautiful to her.

She walked over to the left side of the bedroom, which was draped in a beautiful purple curtain. She parted the curtain, and a gasp escaped her lips at the sight. It was an in-house jacuzzi with a television at one end of the wall.

Was this supposed to be her bathroom? Was she supposed to have her bath in this place? Bella blinked back the tears of joy in her eyes as she closed the curtain and moved to the other end of the room, which was draped in gold.

This was supposed to be a bathroom, but there was nothing normal about it to someone of her background. She stepped in and moved closer to the beautiful toilet. How could something this beautiful be for defecation?

She decided she had seen enough and turned around to leave. She scowled when she saw her luggage box by the door. It looked so out of place in the room, like a cowboy in the midst of ballerinas.

She took out her phone to take pictures so she could send them over to Joan, but paused when she remembered something in his list of 'do nots'. Taking pictures of his house was not allowed.

'What was the point of living in such luxury if you are the only one who knows about it?' Bella asked herself as she quickly walked out of the room to join him.

"Do you have a wristwatch?" Dan asked irritably the moment she joined him.

"No. I use my phone. Why?"

"I said ten minutes, and you are here twenty minutes later," He told her through gritted teeth.

"I forgot to add, I have a problem with keeping to time, but I will try. I'm sorry, sir," Bella added when she noticed the way he was looking at her like he would like to throw her out.

"You're not here to learn on the job. It's either you are effective or not!" He snapped at her.

"I will be... I mean, I am," She quickly corrected herself.

"I hope so. We should leave now," Dan said as he led her outside.

"I thought you were going to input my data in the security system?" She asked as she hurried after him.

"I changed my mind. I first need to be sure you're capable of working for me before I do so."

"Wh---at?" She asked in a choked voice. Was he possibly thinking of letting her go after showing her a glimpse of this heaven?

"You have just one week to prove to me that you have all it takes to be my assistant," Dan said as he walked down to the garage.

"How do I do...?" Bella quickly snapped her mouth shut when he turned to look at her with a raised brow.

"Every time you open your mouth, you convince me I made a mistake. Let's just get this done with. Your one week starts now. Try not to talk too much," He warned her as he got into the garage and headed towards a blue lamborghini aventador.

"You can drive, right?" He asked, looking at her like he was testing her.

Bella swallowed nervously, not knowing how to answer since she wasn't sure what he wanted to hear. One thing she knew was that driving a Toyota Corolla was entirely different from driving a Lamborghini.

He watched the different expressions on her face and could tell she was thinking very hard, and he liked that she was beginning to think now before opening her mouth randomly. That meant that the job was important to her.

If she said 'Yes', would he give her the car keys? She didn't want to drive this car right now. But what if she said 'No'? Would he think she wasn't capable of being his personal assistant because she couldn't drive? She remembered what Zach said about him loving to drive himself, so she gave a brief nod. Hopefully, he would drive the car himself.

"Good. That means I don't have to worry about having you around my cars," Dan said with a nod as he threw the key at her, and she automatically caught it.

Why was he handing her the keys? "I thought you loved driving yourself?" She asked in confusion.

"Yes. Myself, when I'm alone. Not when my personal assistant is with me in the car," Dan said as he got into the car.

Bella quickly did the sign of the cross before getting into the car.
