It was becoming quite clear to Becca that adapting to life as Ian's valet was going to prove more difficult than she had thought possible. She realized now that she had underestimated the job of the servants at her home. Polishing his shoes and washing his clothes weren't in the least bit easy tasks.
Now she was in the sewing room with Emilia, who was teaching her how to make stitches.
"You're missing it again," Emilia pointed out with laughter in her tone when Becca started to place the needle at the wrong spot for what was probably the twentieth time that day.
"By Thor, I rather die than do a woman's job!" Becca swore in frustration.
"And you forget you're a lady," Emilia said in a very soft voice when she was sure no one was around to hear them. The only servant who had been there to keep an eye on them had gone off on an errand.
Becca looked around to be certain no one had heard Emilia, "You shouldn't say such things," Becca chided her.
