Out of Time

It's June 14th 1996, the boys are still in the past. Lewis is trying to make it to Allan's house. When he's approaching the street he hears a weird rustling in the trees. Then he stops running, and looks up. The branches are moving, but there's nothing in the trees. Lewis keeps running towards Allan's house. Then he sees a shadowy figure pass him by, and he starts running even faster. At Allan's house Allan, and Johnny were talking. Allan tells Johnny: 'I don't get it, she said she'd have me when she was ready, and then she still abandoned me.' Johnny's frozen in silence he doesn't say a word he just nods, and listens to what Allan is saying. That's when Allan looks into the distance, and says: 'why didn't she want me bro?' Johnny: 'AJ look it's not your fault man, I'm sorry to say this but your mom sucked. She didn't deserve you or your dad, she's a female dog.' Allan: 'a what?' Johnny: 'you know a B.' They start laughing together, and Allan leans back on the ground. Johnny says: 'there you go man, that's what I'm talking about laugh through the pain, screw all this.' Then he looks over to the direction where his house is, and starts thinking about his uncle. Then Johnny says to himself: 'yeah just laugh through the pain.' Then Allan gets up, and dries his tears. Johnny said: 'all better now, can we finally leave?' Then Allan said: 'there's just one last thing I need to do.' Johnny says: 'oh yeah what exactly?' Then Allan points at his house and gives Johnny a wink. Johnny looks confused at first then he says: 'no, no man don't do this don't be stupid.' Allan says: 'I have to do this Johnny I have to confront her, and this is the only way I know how.' Johnny says: 'no man you really don't come on.' Allan: 'my dad wouldn't own up to what happened for all these years but I don't blame him because who would want to believe that someone like that would walk out for no good reason? No one would, I told him we didn't deserve this we need answers Johnny.' Johnny looks down, and takes a deep breath. Allan says: 'I have to do this, I can't live like this anymore.' Johnny says: 'I'm not going to let you do this AJ, because if you change something here now you may screw up everything for everyone.' Allan turns around, and starts walking towards the house. Then Johnny grabs him by the arm, and tells him: 'AJ don't make me do this.' That's when Johnny hears a weird sound. He gets distracted, and Allan breaks free from his grip, and runs away. Then he sees Lewis in the street getting attacked by a dark figure. Then when the figure runs away Johnny looks at Allan climbing through the house window, and back at Lewis. Then he says: 'f-ing midget.' He runs over to Lewis, and gives him a hand, and says: 'hurry up or I'll let you die.' Then they both drop to the grass next to the house. They're hyperventilating heavily. Johnny starts drinking some water. Then Lewis asks: 'can I have some?' Johnny says: 'no drink your piss.' Lewis: 'that's a bit much.' Johnny looks at Allan inside the house through the window. Then he tells Lewis to f off, then throws the water bottle at him, and runs into the house. Johnny enters through the window into what would later become Allan's room. His head starts to hurt, and he drops to the ground, and he can hear his uncle talking. He looks out the window to where he can see his house from the second floor, and he starts having a flashback of his uncle playing basketball with him when he was 9. Johnny shoots, and he misses. His uncle picks up the ball, and says try again.  Johnny says: 'I'm not good like you.' Then his uncle says: 'you don't get good by quitting you just have to pick up the ball, and try again, but failing can be good. Failing makes us better.' Then he sees himself sitting next to him when he was 14. His uncle puts his arm around him, and says: 'find yourself a good woman, and some good friends people are what makes life worth living.' Then the flashback stops, and he sheds some tears but as he turns around he feels a hand on his shoulder. Then he punches Allan in the gut. Then Johnny says: 'oh my bad bro it's just there's this shadow guy outside, and I thought you were him.' Allan: 'what shadow guy?' Johnny: 'forget that, did you do it?' Allan says: 'do what?' Johnny says sarcastically: ' I don't know impregnate a sea horse, the mom thing AJ you know what I'm talking about.' Allan says: 'I was going to but then I saw what was happening to you, and I wanted to help.' Johnny: 'you saw nothing that's what you saw.' Lewis enters the window, and says: 'what did I miss?' Then Allan gasps when he sees Lewis, and gives him a hug. Lewis awkwardly pats him on the back and says: 'it's good to see you too Allan.' Then Johnny closes the door, and says: 'shush you bastards they can hear us down stairs.' Lewis says: 'ok we have to get out of here I don't know why we're in here in the first place honestly.' Then Johnny says: 'it's been a while since we agreed on something man let's get the hell out of here.' Then they looked back at Allan. Allan says: 'you guys go I have to stay here, I heard something from inside the void, and I need to know what it means.' Lewis asks Johnny: 'what's he talking about?' Johnny says: 'mommy issues you know how it is.' Lewis asks Allan: 'did you hear something like your parents talking in your head, and it was a conversation?' Then Johnny looks over at his house, and he can hear the echoing of his uncle's voice saying: 'don't quit' then sees the shadow moving in Allan's backyard. Then Lewis tells Allan: 'I heard it too with me it was my father, and I haven't seen him in years, but I'm not gonna let you think for a second that you don't deserve her love when you're worth much more than that, you don't need her answers save yourself the pain man.' Johnny says: 'very touching, and all but if we stay here that black demon is gonna kill us so let's get back to the v-thing.' Lewis says: 'oh yeah, and also the v-thing is closing.' Johnny and Allan both say: 'what?' Then Lewis says: 'yeah I should've told you that sooner.' Then they hear the door knob turning, Allan's dad is trying to unlock the door with his keys. The boys don't have enough time to make it through the window, so they hide in the big closet. Allan's dad walks in, sits on the bed, and starts reading a book. Lewis starts pacing around nervously, and speaking to himself. Johnny whispers to Allan: 'we have to do something or else we're gonna be stuck here, we can't stay here AJ.' Lewis starts panicking then he says: 'no screw this we need to get out of here.' Then he tries to open the door but Allan and Johnny hold him down. The situation is tense, and desperate they all have someone to lose including maybe each other if they stay and die at the hands of the dark figure. That's when Allan's mom calls out to his dad then he leaves the room. Lewis leaves first desperately. He drops the newspaper on the ground, and as they make a run for it Allan grabs it, and picks it up. They run with as much force as they can until they make it to the forest Lewis gets there first then he jumps into the void which was still a bit open as he jumped through it. Then it collapses into it self, and disappears. Allan and Johnny stop running. Then Lewis throws himself flat on the floor in defeat. Allan and Johnny stare at each other in shock. Johnny says: 'what the hell do we do now?' Then Allan leans against a tree, and says: 'I don't know.' Then the fear starts hitting them as the night gets darker, they lose their hope, and their hearts grow weary.
