Chapter One

I got up out of bed and put on my robe. I looked out the window of my new bedroom and sighed.

"This is my new life." I mumbled softly.

My mother came up and knocked on my door. "Hailey! Get ready! We're going somewhere!" I could hear her footsteps retreat and descend down the hallway. I sighed and rolled my eyes. We're probably going to go meet up with someone she met on social media.

I walked into my bathroom and started a shower. I slowly took off my clothes and got in. The warm water woke me up instantly as I rubbed my face gently. I washed my hair and body. Today I decided that I was going to go explore my new town. I slowly turned off the shower and grabbed my towel. I wrapped it around my body and stepped out of the shower.

After getting ready I walked downstairs. I decide if I was just going to be exploring I didn't have to wear anything 'fancy' so I put on a simple floral dress and some boots.

"Good morning dear." My mother said cheerfully and set down a smoothie. She was in a surprisingly good mood today. She smiled and grabbed her keys, "Ready to go?"

"Yeah" I mumbled and followed her to the door, I grabbed my purse and gently slid my phone into it. She opened the door and unlocked the car. She walked over to the driver's side door and got in, I walked slowly down the steps brushing my dark brown hair out of my face and got in the car.

We sat down at the table and my mother ordered two coffees. One for me and one for her. She glanced at me, "Kids these days always on their phones." She rolled her eyes and reached across the table, now this is the mom I'm used to. She grabbed my chin roughly and looked sternly into my eyes. "Turn that damed thing off young lady, you will be respectful when my geust arrives. Understand?" She said letting go of my face.

I rubbed the spot where she had held my chin, "Yes mother." I said. All I wanted to do was get my coffee and go.

My mother smiled as the waitress came over with our coffee. They exchanged a few words before the lady left to go help some other people. The door opened and a tall man walked in. He was very handsome, I stared at his face and sipped on my coffee. His dark black hair was still wet as if he had gotten out of the shower a few moments ago. He scanned the room and caught my eye. I looked down embarrassed, my cheeks burned, and I could hear the man chuckle.

I got up and quickly went to the bathroom. As I reached the door I opened it swiftly glancing back at the door to see him still staring at me. I quickly went into the bathroom and sighed. I walked over the the mirror and looked at myself, my cheeks were a bright pink. I looked down and sighed.

Slowly I splashed cold water on my face and gathered myself. Once I was finished I walked out of the bathroom, I kept my head down as I walked back to the table.

"Oh! This I'm my daughter, Hailey." I looked up to see who my mother was talking to, it was the man from the door. I sighed.

"Hello." I said softly looking down, I could feel my face burning again.

"Hi, I'm Jasper." He said, his voice deep and playful. I looked up and he smiled. I looked down again.

"I'm going to go." I said and grabbed my coffee, I looked up at my mother and she seemed pleased with my decision.

"Of course dear, Ill call you when it's time to leave." She smiled. I could tell it was fake, but I didn't care as long as I got out of there quick.

"Your mom tells me you just moved here, do you need help finding your way around?" Jasper said smiling. I shook my head politely.

My mothers expression darkened. I could tell that she really didn't want him to go with me.

"No! No it's alright, I'll find my way around." I forcefully smiled and walked out of the coffee shop.

Once I got around a block away I stopped and caught my breath, who was that man? He was obviously too young for my mother, He really didn't seem that interested in her anyways. "It's not my problem" Mumbled and grabbed out my phone, I got out Google maps and started walking.

I looked down at my phone. "I'm so lost." I sighed.

"Where are you looking to go?" A voice said behind me, it was obviously a man. I turned.

"Im.." I stopped. This man looked like Jasper, the man my mother was with in the coffee place. His hair was slicked back and it was the same color at Jasper's. His eyes the same stunning blue. He towered over me.

"You ok?" He said. A glint of worry in his eye.

"I'm fine." I mumbled and nodded. He looked confused as I turned and walked away.
