Chapter 44- Last Resort

Mylo was standing still around, not moving one inch as not to alarm the bat of his position. Taking the time he needed for the blind curse to run out as well as to think of a solution in order to deal with the difficult issue.

'I can't do that…not that…nope, neither this…I-I can't think of any solutions! He thought to himself.

"My thorns skill is useless against him; it can easily attack me without his wings. The chances of me hitting both his ear drums with a piercing attack aren't high… I can't ask for a priest or cleric for help because of his silence… I can't move or he will sneak up on me …. I can't ambush him because it's smart enough to use a shadow clone to bait me into thinking it's him…I don't possess any useful items in my inventory to help me here…"

"…Yep… this is the only viable solution with my current strength… tactical retreat it is!"

Mylo couldn't think of any way to deal with the bat. He currently wasn't strong enough to win, he had to retreat and strengthen himself. As long as he crew stronger, eventually he would have enough power to kill it. But at this instant it just wasn't feasible.

After exhausting all possible action, Mylo strengthen his resolve into retreating from the battle. He wasn't sad or mad about it, it's not like it was his first time retreating. Similarly to the Valsea's Forest guardian he would eventually come back when he reaches a certain power threshold.

"…"

"…"

Complete silence surrounds the cave. A beast lurking in the shadows, waiting. Its fang ready to strike at any giving moment. Complete concentration on its hearing, expecting its prey to lose patience.

"…"

*Clack*

"!"

Three figures could be seen emerging from the shadows, all three plunging towards the location of the noise.

*Clomp*

*Clomp*

"?"

As the bat was lunging itself towards the noise location, it could hear the sound of footsteps quickly getting further away from its general location. At this moment, Bane realized that the human wasn't trying to fight him; rather it was trying to run away. He used the momentum of his lunge and dived inside the pool of shadows, swimming his way towards the intruder.

Within seconds it managed to shorten the cap between them, still inside the shadows, the bat summoned two more clones for a grand total of five. Changing their position to that of an arrow head. Each one emerging out of the shadows and re-plunging themselves inside, they clearly moved their bodies but didn't seem to walk, they were using their wings as fins , similarly to a group of fish using their fins to maintain their positions, movements and steering.

It was already time for Mylo to fend himself as he tries to flee the battle. If he, with unfortunate luck, manages to get hit by bane or his clones, he would have to kiss goodbye to his experience points. He had no chance to successfully run away while being affected by the blindness curse.

The problem was his surroundings, the tall walls from the left and right, the ceiling and floor, as well as his back, every single direction was potential landscape that could harbor danger. Distance was all that mattered. Mylo wasn't stopping for anything and he sure as hell wouldn't stop for a couple of bats. His eyes were glued to the floor in front of him, making sure to track the shortest route to the outside. The hisses of the bats could be heard from behind but Mylo didn't dare waste his precious movement to turn his head and see how far apart they were. Even if he could spare the movement he would have been hard-pressed to make the gesture. He only had one goal, escaping this dire situation.

The sound of the bats hisses started fading away in the background, Silence was left. He was focusing his mental and physical energy towards his two sturdy legs and his two fixated eyes.

[Extreme Concentration is in Effect, Double to all attribute stats. ]

The only sure way was to go forward. The wind started to howl the faster he ran, the more brutal the wind was the calmer he felt. Without realizing it he stopped in place, he didn't feel hot or burned out as one would feel after running full strength but he did feel wet, not sweat wet but more like victorious wet, like a refreshing spring breeze passing thru a drenched body from pure and fresh water.

"Just like a waterfall…"

"Ha… I actually made it. Once again, all thanks to my passive skill…"

"Let's log off for now. I've been farming non-stop for a few days now. And all that thinking actually exhausted me mentally."
