Chapter 15: Fate of the Kin

Yutao immediately stood up and spoke out alarmingly, "Quick! Let's take him to the physician!"

He then gazed at Xialin seeking for her permission to hold Xulan. Xialin acknowledging his gaze she quietly nodded her head and stood aside.

With it, the guards came forward and assist to lift up Xulan's unconscious body. They slowly lifted him up and put him back safely to the carriage. Xialin quietly moved on inside the carriage and continued to weep as she holds Xulan's hand. Feeling helpless and frightened to see her loving, protective brother laying down there unconscious, she was left in much agony.

Yutao on the other side spoke to the general, "Thankyou for coming in time. Since the bandits have been captured I shall leave the matter to you. I'll visit your place later"

The General replied to it seriously, "Yep. Sure Young Master Yutao"

With it, Yutao gets inside the carriage and they were headed for the Physician House. The carriage took off farther away from the Auction House and went passed down the street of the Black Market.

While they were on their way, Yutao's deep sorrowful eyes gazed at Xialin which was crying throughout the entire journey holding Xulan's hand. There was merely the sound of Xialin's deep silent cries as the horse trot towards the Physician house.

Sensing the remorseful cries of Xialin, the clouds instantly went dull and gloomy. There were the sudden sound of thunder and lightning roaring up the sky. Yutao lifted up the curtain and stared at the cloud. The rain started to pour down dip by dip onto his face.

After a while later, there was the sudden heavy downpour.

Did the sky announces that the heaven hears Xialin's cries or is the sky comforting her from amidst misery?

The sky echoes Xialin's cries and were accompanying her. While Xialin's cries became louder and clearer, the rain became heavier.

Yutao unable to figure out on what to do, he quietly stared at Xialin with his crestfallen eyes. He became heavy-hearted as he watched Xialin in deep grief.

Soon after a while, they reached the Physician House. The Physician house was a big wooden house with a number of helpers. The coachman immediately stops the carriage, "Yee.....!"

He then quickly went down.

Yutao lifted up the curtain and glanced at the place. They have arrived. He turned to Xialin and spoke to her softly, "Xialin. We have arrived".

Xialin with her teary puffy eyes immediately meets Yutao's, unable to stare for long she quickly turned aside and quietly came down from the carriage.

The men from the physician house came out hastily and helped to put down Xulan from the carriage. They carried him inside the house and laid him down on a bed.

The Physician, an old man in his sixties came out hurriedly to examine Xulan. He was left shooked upon seeing the long sword piercing right through Xulan's chest that he exclaimed in awe, "Oh my goodness! This is serious! It's wise of you that you didn't remove the sword! Quick leave! I'll immediately start the treatment!"

The physician cast out Yutao and Xialin from there. He then enclosed the bed with the curtain and immediately starts treating Xulan. He ordered his men to fetch fresh water and the men heeded to it. They kept on running back and forth in fetch of water. They carried out a bucketful of bloodstain water and brought in a fresh new bucketful of water.

Xialin and Yutao watched them in troubled as they kept on running back and forth. Both of them stood in front of the curtain, feeling restless and worried. They paced around the area while they wait for the Physician to end his treatment. The old Physician was left sweating over his entire face as he carefully took out the sword from Xulan's chest. He then quickly cover up the wound with a clean cloth and began nursing it. After long hours of treating and dressing the wound, he was done with it. He came out with a big sigh on his face.

Upon seeing him, Xialin and Yutao immediately rushed to him.

Xialin inquired him in hopefulness, "Mister. How is my brother?! Is he okay?! Is he alright now?!"

The physician replied with a big sigh on his face, "See..... the young man case is serious. The sword has gone right through the heart. With each and every seconds passing by, the blood is leaking...he'll die of excess blood flow. There's nothing I can do about it. I am sorry young miss"

Traumatized by it, Xialin was left dumbstruck. She bursts out in deep anguished, "What are you saying?! Aren't you a Physician?! Isn't it your duty to save lives?! You have to save him! Please! Please! Save my brother. I am begging you. Please save him"

Xialin cried out in wretched as she holds the Physician's collar.

The Physician slowly took out Xialin's small hands and sighed in regret, "Young missy, I too want to save your brother but it's out of my hands now. I am just a mere Physician, not a God. I am sorry. Everything is in the hands of the heavens now"

With it, the Physician leaves the place.

Xialin feeling devastated over it, her heartsore. It seems like her heart has been ripped apart into every bits and pieces. It was hard to swallow the physician's words. Her mind was left traumatized with it.

It was overbearing to see her smiling, happy, protective Xulan gege lying unconscious on the mattress, not speaking a word as if he is still sleeping without knowing anything. It ripped her heart apart that she sobbed in misery. The whole world seemed to have collapse upon her head.

Not prepared to see her brother's death, Xialin ran out from the Physician's place with teary eyes. Yutao chased after her calling her name, "Xialin...Xialin...Wait...Don't leave!"

Even though Yutao came out to stop her, he was a bit late. In a single flash moment, the sight of Xialin disappears in the rain leaving no trace of her.

Xialin ran away as far as she could away from the physician place. She ran crying her eyes out in the rain. The sky seemed to be in agony too it didn't stop raining.

She was all drenched in the rain and went farther on with no particular direction. Her heart seemed to be heavier than that of the thunder and the roaring clouds.

As she came out running to an unknown place she broke down and looked up to the sky. She wept in torture, "Are you happy now?! Are you happy now?! Can't you just spare my brother?! Please let him live...let him live!".

As she cried out staring at the sky, there was a loud thunder roaring in the sky in sync with the heavy rainfall.

Xialin stood there in agony feeling unworthy and helpless.

The fate of the kin was it meant to turn out this way? The happy moments of the siblings seemed to be fleeting away with time. With each seconds passing by...the reality seems to be heavier and heavier.

Yutao anxiously called the guards of the Physician and commanded, "Quick..! Spread the area! Search for the maiden!"

The guards heed to his commands and spread out in search of Xialin.
