Chapter 3

' Nike wetin happen. I see your bobo for club with babe ' Ronke said after dragging her friend to a corner of the shopping mall to tell her ' gist '

' you sef na wetin you dey find for club ' Nike replied avoiding her question

' na my bobo take me joore. We just say make we remember old times ' Nike looked at her friend and couldn't help but laugh. She and Ronke had gone way back and while she had been the reserved one among the two Ronke had gone all out. She was the party girl and it was no wonder she had met her husband on the dance floor.

' you never answer my question o ' Ronke stressed looking at her friend.

' This one wey you just dey look. ' Nike looked at her friend thinking of what reply to give her.

' Ronke everything is alright. It is well '

' Adenike ' Nike knew there was no escape when Ronke addressed her that way, but not this time. She wasn't going to allow her failing marriage to become the talk of Lagos.

....

Lewa looked at her friends as they gushed over the mini flat Dieko had gifted her a week ago.

' Na real fish you catch o ' Bimbo exclaimed as she stepped into the masters' bedroom.

' fish? Na titus abi na panla? ' Deborah her ever sarcastic friend responded.

' This na love o ' Bimbo said ignoring Deborah

' Lewa this man no be idiot. Come on you might get yourself in trouble. This is old Lagos blood we talkin' about. If the man finds out you've made a fool out of him he won't let you go free ' Deborah said looking at her friend with a worried expression. Lewa sighed inwardly she knew Deborah would find a way to ruin her shortlived happiness before it was over.

' no mind Debbie. She just dey jealous you. ' Bimbo retorted as she lied down haphazardly on the double bed.

' me jealous? ' Deborah gave a short laugh then said ' over my dead body will I ever steal another woman's husband ' she said as she snapped her two fingers.

' Can't you just be happy for me? ' Lewa who had been quiet all this while finally spoke up.

' hmmm. Happy for you? Let me ask you, have you told the man you have slept with half of Lagos? Or that you can never have children? ' Deborah asked a now angry Lewa.

' Haba. Half of Lagos ke? You like to exaggerate Debbie ' Bimbo said trying to lessen the tension in the room.

' When he finds out everything about you. Your parent's house in Ibadan will be more habitable than Lagos ' Deborah said looking at Lewa as her expression turned bitter.

' How dare you? ' Lewa screamed she loathed any reference to what had forced her away from home.

Deborah only laughed, she loved her friend and tolerated her lifestyle but this time she had decided to say her mind and she knew undoubtedly that she was saying goodbye to their friendship. At least whatever it is that happened in future she would have a clear conscience as she had told Lewa the truth.

Lewa looked at her friend as she walked out on her. Deborah had told her the truth but like most times the truth was not something she wanted to hear. She had not planned for things to turn out this way. She had just wanted to bed Dieko for a while and have him spend money on her.

In all honesty, she had started to find Dieko boring. He was romantic and all but he had started to bore her with his gentlemanly behaviour. She missed James who was anything but that. The only thing was that James was only ready to sleep with her like the common prostitute she was, pay for the service and leave. Dieko, on the other hand, claimed he was in love with her and wanted marriage. She knew for a fact that if she were to marry Dieko all of her problems would be solved. The problem was, Dieko wanted to do the right thing, meet her parents and give her a societal wedding. He had also made it clear that he would love to have more children. In fact, he had stopped making use of condoms each time he had sex with her. She had lied about her parents saying they were out of the country and wouldn't be returning anytime soon. She had also told him that she would like a closed curtain wedding because she was afraid her identity would be revealed. As for having children, it was never going to happen. The only thing she wanted now was to become his legal wife and then accumulate as much money as she could to travel out of the country. After which she will change her identity and become AWOL.

Dieko was yet to know what hit him.

...

' Where did you learn to do that? ' Lewa's heart skipped at the question. She had just given Dieko a head probably the best he had ever received.

' I ... I ...it was ... I never ' she began stuttering while thinking of the perfect lie to tell. She couldn't tell him her expertise in this field had earned her the title ' blowjob queen '. She was a master at cock sucking but Dieko couldn't know that.

Dieko looked at the girl kneeling naked in front of him. Her hair was a mess he had made. Her perky breast heaving up and down in rhythm to her heartbeat. Her face looking troubled as she faltered. Then he realised she looked that way because of the question he had asked her. He laughed inwardly. He looked at her troubled face again, she had her head down. He instantly felt bad for what he had said, she had only been trying to please him. To him, the only man she had ever been with was the bastard that had raped her. He didn't bother comforting her he just left her there to the bathroom. He was in a foul mood today and he couldn't even pinpoint why. In fact these days his mood was usually down. Seeing Lewa used to alleviate his mood but it just wasn't working today.
