Well that sucked. The one guy I was really starting to trust and allow close to me thinks I don't like him and my best friend sis upset because her crush also likes me. We watch in silence as he drives off only for Ruby to storm off to her room to cry. As for me I headed straight for the library. I had to try and fix this if not for me for Ruby. She's already done so much for me.
Once in the library I grab every book on the law enforcement officer and police guidelines & restrictions. I spread them all out across the table and start reading while scribbling down notes here and there. It would take some time
But I'll figure out a way to make Ruby happy.
Now as I was so focused on finding a way for them to date that I hadn't bothered to even sit down. Instead I was leaning over the books with my butt sticking up and even swaying from side to side in my tight jeans. I really hadn't though how enticing it really was I was too focused on making my friend happy.
Just then I felt paws on my ass and I froze. All of my friends knew to do so without saying some thing. Not to mention with things the way they are I don't think they'd even find this funny. The paws then began to rub each of my cheeks making me shiver.
"What'd you stop for lovely. Maybe you could show me more." replied a strong manly voice as the paws started to slide around my waist.
"Paws to yourself scum." I snapped as I spin in place and smack him hard across the face with on of the books I was reading.
The guy, which was the same guy from earlier in the semester, fell back into a table while one of his buddies grabbed the book from me and the other grabbed my arms. As for the first guy he slowly got to his feet and was about wrapping his paws around my throat when a growl came from nearby.
"Let her go now!" snapped Ray who I barely could tell it was him.
"Hay old man who let you on campus? Grandparent's day isn't for another three weeks." teased the one who I hit with the book.
"I'm Detective O'Hare of the Anthrotopian Police Department. I'm here visiting my sister and that's one of her roommates." replied Ray walking right up to them. "So I recommend you let her go before I decide to book all three of you for sexual assault and rape!"
With that the three scampered away with their tails between their tails and Ray bent down to get the book they'd taken from me. As for me I froze, Ray my have saved me and may make me feel safe but it not the same as Marcus and thus I'm still scared.
"Hay Damien you're safe now." added Ray as he handed me the book before realizing what I was working on and adding, "You're doing this for Ruby aren't you?"
"Yah I figured since I screwed up my chance with him not to mention she wanted him first I'd try and find a loophole that would go around the rule and not break it." I confess not sure why.
"You're a good friend Damien. I just hope Lt. Squirrel can appreciate how lucky he would be to get either one of you." replied Ray before smiling and whispering, "You are very cute even for a guy."
"How?" I asked looking at him very panicked. Had it really gotten that easy to tell?
"Jill told me. She was so focused on seducing me at the cabin last night she forgot to refer to you as a girl and we'll then I kind of got the rest out of her from there." replied Ray as he rubbed the back of his neck before adding, "So you care to tell me what happened at the cabin after I left?"
"Why don't you ask your sister?" I sigh not really wanting him to be this close to me. Don't get me wrong I felt safe and knew that he wouldn't let anyone hurt me but I was still very scared of him.
"Well she bolted off for her dorm and even though I'm a cop I still can't enter the girl's dorm. She also refuses to answer my phone calls." explained Ray as he found a seat across the table from me. I think he could tell I was scared and wanted to give me all the space I needed.
"Well we went into Marcus' room and as he handed me his bulletproof vest he called me a he and it took your sister a few times before catching on at which point he confessed he knew from the beginning." I confess with a sigh not really sure why I was telling him or why it mattered.
"Then because I was struggling with the vest he offered to help and the first time I pulled away but I eventually allowed him to help me. Now when he finished helping me our muzzles were almost side by side and he kissed me." I continued to explain as Ray listen like a school kid hearing an amazing tale of adventure and stuff, "I panicked and pulled away. He took this as me not liking him and thus I've lost my chance at having someone strong enough to protect me but caring enough to give me room when I need it. I love him and your sister is my friend. I want them both to be happy so if I can find a way for them to be together then I guess it'll be good enough."
"But what about you?" asked Ray. "Why don't you go to the police station and tell Marcus how you really feel?"
"I can't especially not now. Besides if he can be happy with Ruby then I'm okay with being alone." I lie.
"No ones okay being alone, but until you realize that here's what you're looking for." replied Ray standing up and sliding a open book towards me to which I quickly started to record notes from it but when I went to say thanks he was gone.
Could he be right? Was there another way? I love the sound of a wedding but was this the best option? With a sigh I gather my notes and put the books back before heading to my dorm to hopefully talk with Ruby and cheer her up.
Once in my dorm the girls all look at me as I hold my notebook close to my chest. I think they want answers too but first I needed to talk with Ruby. So with a sigh I approached her door and knocked.
"Ruby dear can I come in I think I have a plan." I calmly ask after knocking once.
"I'd think you'd be off trying to get Marcus to kiss you again." yelled Ruby from her room this made the three girls in the common area gasp and place their paws over their mouths.
"I told you we'd find away and if you won't let me in I'll just come in a whoop some cheer back into you!" I snapped ready to open the door and march right in.
"Why do you care?" asked Ruby from the other side of her door.
"Because you're my best friend. I want you to be happy even if that means-" I start only for the door to be whipped open to find a glaring Ruby with tear stained eyes.
"Don't you dare say you'll be okay being alone." scolded Ruby as she grabbed me by the collar and pulled me into her room and slamming the door.
"But I've found a way that you and Marcus can be together." I reply a bit scared not having ever seen this side of Ruby and very unsure what she might do.
"Yah I quit the team then there is no conflict." replied Ruby as she threw her stuffed animal collect off of her bed to make room for me. She seemed to have an odd obsession with stallions, no wait those are ponies of all sorts of colors and each with different tattoos on their flank. Other then that there were a few foxes.
"No! You love that job, even if you're not getting paid right now. You can't quit besides if you and Marcus get married then there is no conflict as the guidelines don't involve family." I reply rushing to her and sitting in the open spot next to her.
"And how am I going to get him to marry me if we've never dated? Thus I quit and then we can date." replied Ruby, "I've already concluded that its the only option and have already sent Marcus my letter of resignation."
Angry and frustrated that she's giving up so easily I stand up and smack her right across the face with a load crack that scared me and shocked her. I think it even startled the others. So looking at my paw I stammered "I'm sorry I just don't want you throwing away your dreams when there is another way."
"Its okay I needed it." sighed Ruby rubbing her cheek.
"Good because I got felt up by some creep at the library while looking for these things, not to mention I think I broke a nail when I hit him with one of the books." I teased while sitting back down next to her and placing an arm around her.
"You hit someone? Wow I think you've been hanging around Mya a bit too much if you ask me." replied Ruby with a smile as she took my paw in hers which felt weird but comforting at the same time.
"I guess I was too focused on finding a solution that'd work for you and Marcus that I wasn't scared just frustrated so I just swung the book I had in my paws and hit the looser right across the face." I smiled before adding, "So when should we plan the wedding?"
"Yah about that, lets put it on a hold and see what else we can come up with. It's not like we have to figure it out by the end of the week." teased Ruby.
"The end of the week! That's only two days away. What am I going to do?" I exclaimed more to myself then to Ruby in fact I hadn't planned on even telling her or the others. I'd completely forgot about until Ruby mentioned the end of the week.
"What about it?" asked a very confused Ruby as she urned to look me in the eyes. Well I guess I had no choice but to tell her.
"Yesterday after classes the dean pulled me into his office to inform me that the scholarship I'd thought was paying my tuition never was approved and that I needed to bring my balance current by the end of the week or leave." I confessed, "Please I haven't told the other girls and I can't find a job and make that kind of money in two days."
"Well not legally anyways." teased Ruby which made me smile that is until she asked me the question I'd hopped she wouldn't ask, "Why don't you want the others to know?"
"I didn't want you girls to have to worry about me. You've all done so much for me thus far and well I just couldn't ask this much from you." I confess, "I know things are tight for all of you and I couldn't in no way ask you to pay my way as well."
"There has to be something we can do though." replied Ruby her eyes full of sadness just then a knoc came at the door.
"Hay you two there is a phone call here for each of you. So please come and take care of them I need to call my umm friend soon." It was Jill and me and Ruby both rolled our eyes knowing that who she meant by friend was Ruby's brother Ray.
So we both stood up and returned to the common room and Ruby got to go first since her caller was already on the line and it ended up being a very short call. In fact all she go to say during the call was 'Yes, sir see you soon." When asked about it she only responded with "'Marcus refused my resignation and told me he wanted me to get back to work."
When it was my turn I didn't really get to say anything because I dropped the phone from shock. And before you get worried no it wasn't my father. In fact I dropped the phone from shocking good news. You see my phone call was from the dean. Come to find out some unanimous person paid for my my college bill for the rest of the semester. I didn't have to leave. But who could've paid for it? How'd they even know about it and that I needed help?
