With a moan I slowly open my eyes to the bright hospital room lights. I slowly raise my paw to shield my eyes when I hear a familiar voice calmly address me.
"Easy sir." replied Ray. I sniffed the air and was puzzled and he must've picked up on it for with a smile he added, "They would've stayed here all week if I didn't make them go to class. In fact they will be here right after classes get out."
"Week?" I painfully ask as my eyes slowly adjust.
"Yes you lost a lot of blood and the doctors didn't think you'd survive and your body actually was struggling to create more blood." explained Ray sitting next to me before adding, "Sir we almost lost you if it wasn't for the blood transfer."
"That took a week?" I confusingly asked still puzzled about everything.
"Sir the doctor said you have a very unique blood and none of us had a match. In fact they had to call around and they only found one match. Once hearing your name they rushed here as quick as possible and that was yesterday." explained Ray, "Dr. Valentine said it's the first time he's had to draw blood from a human before."
"Human?" I was puzzled there was only one person who'd have my type of blood and be human, but why would he come after what happened between us. I then let out a painful sigh before asking, "Is he still here?"
"Yes brother I'm still here." came a sweet and uplifting voice. As I searched for its source I found him standing in the doorway. His light blue eyes and red hair complimenting his light tan skin. He was just as handsome as when we were growing up.
"Mom? Dad?" I asked knowing the answer but still hopping for the best.
"Dad still refuses to acknowledge your existence as for mom she misses you. I think she's always loved you and never wanted to give you up." replied the man as he slowly approached my one side and sat down next to me. "She's proud of you. Did you know she subscribed to your newspaper here in town just so she can read every story about you."
"What about us?" I ask knowing it's most likely not the best time to bring up the past but I needed to know. He never gave me an answer back then.
"Sorry I'm married and have two wonderful kids that I want to meet you someday but what we did when we were younger was just the childish hopes of two lost children searching to belong." sighed my brother as he took my paw which I pulled away.
"I think I should get some rest if the others are going to wish to talk to me later." I sigh.
I didn't want to be rude especially since he did come all the way out here to give me blood and save my life, but how can our childhood mean so little to him? How can he just move past it like it was nothing? Did he ever love me?
"Well since you're awake I'll be leaving in the morning. It was good getting to see you brother." sighed my brother as him and Ray left my room and I just laid there staring at the roof wondering why he even bothered coming.
I finally drifted half asleep since I was in too much pain to full fall asleep bit as I laid their I heard the scampering of two pairs of excited feet rushing towards my room only to slide to a stop just outside my door. I could hear a slight commotion before a loud smack.
"How could you just forsake him for all these years?" half shouted Damien as Ruby opened the door. I could see my brother rubbing his cheek. Damien must've smacked him. He's slowly getting bolder especially concerning me.
"It wasn't his fault." I moaned which caused both Ruby and Damien to rush to my side leaving the door open. "We're twins so he had no control on our parents abandoning me and he was always told his twin brother died at birth."
"It wasn't until we had sex about the third time and officially started dating at the age of twelve that he took me home to meet our parents and after my mother fainted dad explained the whole thing." I continued to explain only to be sadden at the disgust on my brother's face as I mentioned that we had sex. "He was the second human I'd ever had sex with and he was great. Not as good as the first person I ever had sex with but you can't ever forget your first. Or most don't forget their first."
With that last comment Damien was boiling and was about to get up and attack my brother, and I knew it. That's why I gently grabbed his paw with mine slowly rubbing the back of his paw with my thumb. This cause Damien to calm down as he turned to look me in the eyes I smiled.
"You can't be mad at him he came all the way here to give me blood. He saved my life and that's enough for you to be thankful for." I reply with a small smile which faded as I added, "Not to worry though he won't be staying long I believe he said he was leaving in the morning."
"Then we should give you two more time to catch up." sadly replied Ruby as her and Damien went to leave only for me to continue holding onto their paws. They both looked at me puzzled.
"He had his chance to catch up." I moan which caused my brother's expression to change from disgust to shame. He then turned and walked away from my room.
"Marcus now that you're awake the judge will want us to get all of the evidence we got against Damien's father ready for trial." encouragingly replied Ruby as she and Damien sat back down.
"Good, have Officer Foxtail head things up. He should have most things organized and in the proper case boxes. I need you to make sure we have all DNA samples scanned in and registered." I explain before turning to face Damien and asking, "I know it's a lot to ask but I want you and Mya to head up the legal proceedings and if the District Attorney will allow it I want you to lead the case in the court."
"I haven't even finished my first semester of college let alone passed the bar exams. I'll do what I can to get the case court ready but I won't be allowed bast the bar." sighed Damien.
"Thats a start." I replied as I slowly and painfully pull his paw to my lips and giving it a kiss.
"Marcus we do have a slight problem." confessed Ruby not really making eye contact with me, "Ray stepped in as acting team lead while you were here and had to fire Johnson for trying to bribe him with a blowjob."
"Okay, see if Jill will help process the rest of the fingerprints for the case." I suggested with a smile.
"Yah but he also fired Brown and Smith after catching the having sex in the lab." sighed Ruby.
"Simple get Mia to handle anything tech related and Officer Hedgehog has a minor on psychology I believe." I replied as I pull her paw to my mouth and give it a kiss as well before adding, "Odds are since I'm the lead investigator, chief witness, and a victim the court won't be in session until I'm released from the hospital."
"Then we best get to work since you're too stubborn to let them keep you here too long." teased Ruby with a smile.
"It can wait until morning." I pant. "I want the two I love the most at my side for the rest of the night. Please tell me about your week."
"Speaking of love I was wondering-" started Ruby as she rubbed my paw.
"Which one of you I love more?" I interrupt with a smile. "I love you both equally, and I wanted to discuss with you both our future."
"I can pull out of my internship so you don't have to break the rule you're trying get reinforced at our precinct." sighed Ruby.
"If I'm not mistaken the Anthrotopian Police Force has a family clause that allows family to work in the same precinct. Thus what I propose is that at the semester break Damien will move out of the dorms into my house. That is if you want to." I explain smiling at Damien, "As for you Ruby you'd finish the year in the dorm and get your degree. At that point your internship will end and then you too will move in with me and Damien. Then after a year I'd bring you back on as a paid tech."
"But to be family you'd have to marry us but the law would only recognize one of the weddings." sighed Ruby looking away.
"Marcus I'd love to live with you but campus rules don't allow anyone under twenty-one and that wont be for another three years." confessed Damien with a sigh, "Plus it wouldn't be fair to Ruby for me to get one more semester with you though I'm not really big on the sharing part."
"Same here with the whole sharing thing sir. I'm not sure I'm fully for it. Nothing against Damien. I just don't feel comfortable with it is all." confessed Ruby looking away.
"Oh." I sighed. I'd thought that this would be the best way for them both but I guess if they don't want to share me then I'll leave them the choice. So with another sigh I added, "Then I guess we'll get through this case and then I'll let you two choose what happens next."
"I'm sorry, sir I just can't feel comfortable as a second mate that you'd come to only when you needed a little vagina time." confessed Ruby a tears started to form in her eyes.
"You wouldn't be my second mate. You'd be..." I started only to be cut off by Damien who was also on the brink of crying.
"So I'd be the second mate for when you felt like you wanted a little gay sex. Well I'm not a rent a mate." huffed Damien as he turned away from me.
"Neither of you would be second or just the fling. I love you both equally and want to be mates with you equally but I guess that wont work so we can get through this case and then all go our separate ways." I softly replied as I pulled my paws out of theirs and pulled them painfully to my chest before sighing, "Maybe I should just get some sleep and we can finish this at another time."
"Oh. Okay we'll just head to the lab and work on the case and see you later sir." replied Ruby as she stood looking at her paw before her and Damien started to leave the room.
"Good night Marcus." sighed Damien as he followed Ruby out.
I watch them leave and when the door closed I let out a sigh. I then softly cried to myself hoping this was only a dream and that everything could still workout. Yet as I laid there staring at the ceiling through tear stained eyes wondering if it was even worth waking up or even surviving.
With a sigh I look over at the IV in my arm and wondered how long I'd survive without it? But just as a wrapped my fingers around the base of the needle and prepared to disconnect it I saw Damien and Ruby's excited faces when they entered the room earlier. With a moan I release the needle and realize that I can't give up on life knowing that Ruby and Damien would be heart broken if I died, even if they are mad at me right now.
So I determined at that point I'd survive and get out of this place. I'd lock Damien's father away for good and then I'd leave it ultimately to Ruby and Damien on what our next move will be.
