As soon as we landed on Mizeareigh, I immediately knew something was wrong. It- it was some sort of aura, and it was in everything.
"Feeling a little strange there, eh Chevalier?"
I nodded.
"Mhm. I thought you might say that. Don't worry too much, I felt the same way when I came here first." She said, slowly leading the way off the mountain.
"Come on Lykfilia, we have one vampire-demon to retrieve!"
As we walked on, Spectre kept muttering things in a language I didn't understand. Seriously, why was I never taught proper magic? No, instead, I learned all about planting trees. I'm getting a little sidetracked.
Whenever I would ask her about it, she'd say she was masking our energy aura for our safety. I didn't really have another choice but to believe her, so I didn't ask any further questions.
Now, as we walked through the near deserted part of the island, I stopped in my tracks and I nearly collapsed.
"W-wait!" I called out, surprised at how hard it was for me to speak.
Spectre turned around, walking over to me. Whether she was actually concerned or not, I didn't know.
"Hey, are you alright?" She asked me.
I tried to stand up, but I couldn't. I barely had the strenght to speak, but I managed to shake my head slowly.
"Spectre...."
"Yes?"
"There's something wrong. Like, seriously wrong. It's like this place drains me or something."
The corner of Spectre's mouth twitched upward, and she looked away.
"Good, that's good." She said.
"Wh-what? How- why?" I asked her, barely able to form coherent sentences.
"Oh, it means the seal works alright. It's a little weak though, if you're only experiencing it right now."
I felt panic run through me.
"Seal? What seal?" I asked her.
"The one on your wrist fairy. This isn't rocket science. If you're a true fairy, you should've sensed it." Spectre said.
I looked at my wrist, and I saw a chain of runes and symbols around it like a bracelet. It burned like crazy, and it was only growing stronger.
Just when I was about to speak, I heard Spectre talk again.
"Zachriel, I think you might as well release that camouflage charm, seeing as she's not a problem anymore."
I heard a small rustle behind me, and then a voice I didn't know.
"So this is the Fairy Queen Lykfilia Chevalier? I can see why he likes her so much. Not that I would myself."
Spectre chuckled and walked past me, setting up a portal.
"Spectre, do you even know where you're going?" Zachriel asked her.
"No, but that's why you're going to tell me, so I don't have to forcefully drag it out of your mind. Painfully." She said, emphasizing the last words.
"C-court hall, fifth corridor, second basement area, third entrance. I think father's there with Leviathan, trying to persuade him to say yes for the seventh time. It's not my fault if they're not there anymore though, it's been a while." Zachriel sounded, scared? Of Spectre? Why on earth- would he be scared of her?
I sighed. Would that demon ever accept no as an answer?
Zachriel stepped closer to the portal.
"Why do you care in the first place, he's just going to say no again." He said, sounding seriously bored of everything and everyone.
Spectre gave a low chuckle.
"Oh believe me, I know. That's why I brought the fairy, you see."
Spectre came back to my side, dragged me to my feet and then to the portal.
"Why? Why, Spectre?" I asked her, still not grasping the situation.
"Because there will be a war. And in that war, Mizeareigh will need a better leader."
"And what does that have to do with me?"
"You, my dear Lykfilia, are the most important part of the plan. You are the piece that can persuade Leviathan to say yes."
I felt my heart sink, but then I found the words I wanted to say.
"What if I refuse? What if I won't do what you tell me to?" I said, ny voice shaking, but still confident.
"Oh Lykfilia. Nobody said anything about you doing anything on your own."
Spectre's eyes shone with craziness. Then she dragged me through the portal, stepping into a hall of sorts.
"Don't you understand? My life is no longer on Mizeareigh,"
"Argo!" Spectre shouted, making the two demons turn around. "I have successfully brought the fairy here, as you requested." she paused for a moment, as if she was thinking. "She's alive, but really only just."
I tried my best to get away from Spectre in that moment, but her steel grip on my wrist kept me in place.
"Well I'll be damned. I must say, I hadn't quite expected you to be so quick, considering your other task took you almost half a month. But nevertheless, I'm glad to see you delivered, Tergeo. " Argo replied to her with a laugh, stepping away from Leviathan.
"Spectre, step away from Lykfilia-" Leviathan started.
"Or you'll what, Leviathan? You are in no position to be making any threats at all!" Spectre snapped back at him.
Leviathan drew a deep breath.
"You know what's worst Spectre? I actually trusted you."
Leviathan's voice nearly broke me. He sounded so betrayed, broken. The thing that was the worst is that Spectre didn't even hesitate before replying,
"And? That was clearly your mistake, Lesauvage. "
She then dragged me over to the boy from earlier, who apparently was Leviathan's brother, Zachriel. Then, she went over to Argo and the two started a rather sparky conversation.
