Life Meets Sudden Sinister

Ever since Ryker told me of what I really am, I haven't been able to look at myself as a person, it hurts to think that I was born then I died young and was born again but this time my second rebirth was influenced by evil. I couldn't accept the fact that this power wasn't caused by some supernatural miracle like most Extraordinaires, and now that I just learned that I have probably the most powerful and dangerous ability puts a heavy burden on my shoulders. I walk around in the public remembering to stay cool and not get mad or chaos will manifest itself. Basically, I felt like the Incredible Hulk and the Scarlet Witch's offspring walking around. A ticking nuclear bomb that could hurt and even kill thousands if not millions of lives if I ever got mad.

I even tried to stay away from my friends because I was so scared to accidentally hurt them with my demonic powers. I would just sit around in my living room or hide someplace that is private and read books that I bought every once in two weeks.

Although I tried to steer away from any living person as much as possible, I still long for someone to talk to, or someone to spend some time with. Thankfully, my friends still accept me in the group even if my activity in the group has been little lately. Especially James who was actually the one supporting and giving me daily encouragements during my little "social hideout". Ever since we became friends he's been very sweet to me lately, and he was, even more, sweeter and more caring to me when we escape Hellviana and live in Welstborne. I don't know if he's under a trance or in a hex by someone because he's so much different from the James "hot-head" bully I once knew before. He's a dear friend of mine. Someone I can truly see as my friend. A true friend. The best friend.

"I'm lucky to see you outside of your house." A voice suddenly spoke up, startling me so much I almost spilled my coffee on my shirt. I looked up to shot a glare at the person who startled me but I relaxed a little bit once I saw it was Layla.

Layla has a habit of pulling off harmless pranks to anyone she's really close to, a.k.a us, her only true friend she trusts. One time when she bought an actual phone that wasn't altered by the higher-ups at Hellviana, she prank called us every single day, we didn't want her to be upset because whenever we didn't follow the flow of her plan, she gets upset and somehow it rains all day. To prevent that from ever happening, again, we just usually suck it up and let her have her fun.

"Nice to see you too Layla. I see you're holding some important papers on your hand there." I said to her. I extended my hand to point at the two blue folders stuffed with so much paper I thought it would burst once someone opens them.

"I guess that's what I get for running into politics in a place full of non-Extraordinaires," Layla replied. She sat right across from where I am sitting. She drops the folders on the table rather harshly and I quickly grabbed my sandwiches away from the foulders in fear it might explode and they'll stain once they made contact with my sandwiches.

"Wait, why are you dealing with so much paperwork anyway? Did something happened in our town?" I hypothesized.

But before she could answer my question, Layla raised her hand to call on a waiter and order something to drink or to eat. Almost in an instant, a petite young-looking waiter came by to answer her call. He greeted both of us with a warm smile but when she saw Layla, all of the color drained outside of his body.

"T-Town C-council...I mean Ms. L-Layla. What brings you to our humble restaurant?" The poor waiter stuttered and struggled to get a single word out of his mouth.

Layla, clearly already at her tipping point when she walked in carrying all those paper works, was further pissed at the waiter's greetings. She looked at the waiter dead on the eye and said, "Just shut up and give me two mugs full of iced latte and a club sandwich, no tomatoes."

The waiter quickly scrambled and ran towards the kitchen to announce Layla's order to the cooks. Once I can no longer see the waiter, I quickly stomp on Layla's foot.

"Ow! What the hell Zion?!" She exclaimed. "Why did you do that?"

"Uh, because you were extremely rude to that poor waiter?!" I replied back at her.

She rolled her eyes and said afterward, "I'm sorry, but I can't help it! I'm in such a bad mood that I can't even look at that adorable couple that always passes by my house without glaring at them!"

"You mean your neighbors? Mr. and Mrs. Silvers? Why would you glare at such adorable and lovely people?" I asked at the fuming Layla. Later on, it came to me that this was a huge mistake and that I may or may not further pissed her off.

"Were you NOT LISTENING TO ME?! Jesus H. Christ, I always wonder why I fell in-" She stopped herself mid-sentence when she realized that she was about to say something on her comment. Afterward, she smiled awkwardly and even laughed awkwardly further making the whole situation more uncomfortable for the both of us.

"Here's your order ma'am." The waiter suddenly announced.

He carefully placed Layla's food and coffee down on the glass table. I shot a dirty look at her to remind her of what she had done to the poor waiter earlier, she rolled her eyes and sighed deeply.

Just before the waiter left us alone, Layla stopped him and said, "I'm sorry for my rudeness earlier. Here take this money to buy yourself something nice or probably buy grocery."

"W-Wow, t-thank you ma'am." The waiter smiled as he took the money from Layla's hands, he bowed down a little just before he walked away.

"You happy little Mr. Goody Woody?" She hissed then immediately picks up the mug filled with coffee and drank it.

"Very happy," I said.

"By the way, what's going on?" I suddenly asked her. "I mean what's with all these paper works?"

Layla looked at me seriously, she puts down the mug of coffee. She leaned back on her chair and folded her arms across.

"I don't think you're ready for this news Zi," Layla noted.

"I mean, I think if you know what's going on, you'll freak out, I'll freak out, our friends will freak out and then we'll all freak out." She continued.

"I promise. I won't freak out. Just tell me already the anticipation is killing me!" I begged at her.

She paused for a moment but eventually, she sighed in defeat. Without any delay nor hesitation, she said, "The town is running out of food, Zion. Among all other problems."

"Wait what? How is that even possible? We have so many open waters filled with fish. And there's more?" I exclaimed.

"We do have the open water but there's less and less fish." She replied. "And yes, there's more."

"Like there's been a sudden strike of illness all around some neighborhood, cases of sudden dead farm animals are increasing by the day and the weirdest of them all, there have been reports of unknown men dressed in all black," Layla explained. She shook her head back and forth afterward as if she's in disbelief at what she is saying.

"I don't know Zi, but I think everything that is happening in Welstborne right now is somehow..."

"...Connected to Ryker."
