Long evening

"You know, I didn't like you when I first met you. I just got this vibe that you are a brat. But what I didn't know is you are a lucky brat." Miss Liza said to me while walking me to the office.

Oh, Miss B. I also share the same opinion as your first sentence. Oh and I found you a new nickname!

"Well, I would have agreed with you. But then we both would be wrong. That's not a great thing to happen, right?" I said with a smirk.

Me -1, Miss B. -0.

She gritted her teeth so hard that even I could hear it.

R.I.P.  her teeth.

I guess she didn't like my sass. Sorry Miss B I can't help it. I was born with sass.

After that none of us said anything till we reached the office. But she was rigid all the time.

The words of my roommates weren't bothering me much suddenly. Because they are some stupid teenage girls who got time to gossip about baseless rumor. So, I think they got it all wrong. Because I just arrived at the orphanage. Nobody knows about me. It doesn't make sense. So yeah, they definitely got it wrong. I am not going to get adopted today.

I smiled at myself at their childishness. "Stupid girls." I muttered.

She looked at me in a questioning look but I just shrugged my shoulders.

"May I come in, Sir?" She politely asked while knocking on the door, surprising me by her sweet voice.

Whoa! That was one huge flip Miss B. Good job!

We both were patiently waiting to get the permission while ignoring each other. She looked so excited.

But over what?

After getting the permission, we both entered the office room. She quickly patted her hairs and neated her dress before entering. I rolled my eyes at her.

It's a typical office with a big table at the centre, lots of files and papers on the table, chairs around it, bookshelves and a couch at a far corner of the room.

That is where I see Mr Weirdo aka Dylan Winchester, sitting and giving me a soft smile. I raised my eyebrows at him. What does he think he was doing while sitting there and looking at me? I rolled my eyes at him earning an amused look.

"Anything else I can help you with, Sir?" Miss Liza purred from my left. I instantly cringed and made a gagging face while looking at her weirdly.

I know, I know. Not very mature. But who cares?

From the corner of my eyes I saw that Mr Weirdo chuckled at my behaviour. I managed to amuse him for the second time in two minutes.

'I am not up for entertaining you Mr Weirdo! So, stop laughing and looking at me in amusement!' I said in my head not having enough courage to say it to his face. After all he is the younger brother of the great donor..

"Leave us alone."

Someone said from some corner of the room. That's when I noticed we got another company. I didn't notice that person when I entered the room.

A similar shiver ran from my head to toe, raising all the hair of my body. I never heard such a cold voice in my whole life, I swear.

I turned around completely to look for the source of the voice and found a man, facing the window at the opposite corner of the couch while showing us his board back.

Giving me a look that could kill, Miss B left the room after closing the door, leaving me completely alone with these two strangers.

Now I am scared! Why am I alone in this room with these two strangers!

Suddenly, the man with a cold voice turned around to face me and I swear, at this moment, I stopped breathing.

THE SIMILAR FREAKING EYES!

What the hell?!? What is it today? The similar eyes day??

The coldest grey eyes are looking exactly at my similar colourless grey eyes. The man in front of me was rich and powerful, I could guarantee that. Because, his personality and body language were screaming perfection, power, respect and many more.

His perfect black suit was perfectly hugging his muscular body. His dark hair was perfectly brushed. I am not in a state to guess his age and height. Cold and sharp grey eyes were judging me, making me uncomfortable. I shifted from one leg to another.

I still don't know why I am here.

It looks like he was also surprised seeing my eyes. But he was quick to mask his surprise look with a cold one. Emotionless.

"Hello, Miss Grace. I am Dominic Winchester. The one and only donator of this orphanage."

Ahh.. I see. As he is the one and only donator of this orphanage, that's why he was here to see the new addition in the orphanage. That's fine.. right?

"Hello, Sir. It is nice to meet you I am Grace." I spoke as formally and respectfully as I can, while looking away from his eyes. I have to be respectful, you see..

"Grace what?" He asked almost immediately. It felt like he was interrogating me.

I hate it when people think you should always have a surname.

"Not to be rude, Sir but it's not necessary for everyone to have a surname. If I had one I wouldn't be here in an orphanage. It's Grace, only Grace." I said while looking down.

"I see, you have a lot of confidence in yourself but it's such a waste if you can't use this confidence while talking looking into eyes." He said in a mocking tone.

"Look into my eyes while I am talking." He said after a break.

I immediately looked straight into his eyes not to challenge him or anything. Just to obey his words as he is the donator.

"So, Miss Grace. Tell me something about yourself."

He leaned over the wall and folded his arm over his chest, trying to intimidate me. He was quite successful, though.

"Yes, Sir. I am Grace. I am a 15 years old orphan. I am a middle school student with good grades. I don't know who my parents are. I have been an orphan since I was 5 years old. That's all, Sir." After completing my introduction I looked down at my shoes.

It's not a great introduction..

"Nothing, I couldn't guess. Tell me something I don't know." He said in a tone that meant no nonsense.

Something he doesn't know? How much does he know exactly?

"I.. I'm sorry sir I don't know what you are asking for." His sharp eyes and cold voice were making me nervous.

"Ok, let's do this, I will ask you questions and you will answer. No lies, no hiding. Remember Miss Grace the questions I am going to ask you is nothing that I don't know about. I may not know everything about you but what I know is enough to put you in trouble for lying to me. And it's a test. And I want you to pass it. Is it understood?"

I looked at him in shock and it soon turned into anger.

"You did my background check?!" I sounded more harsh then I meant to. He was practically threatening me. He knows a lot of things about me. I am now more nervous. What does he know? Does he know about that night? Will he put me at jail? No..

"Calm down, Grace. Deep breath." I muttered at myself.

"Shall we start, Miss Grace?" Completely ignoring my question.

Ok, let's do this.

"Yes, Sir" I said in confidence.

What worse could happen?

"So, What is your birthdate?"

"I don't know."

"Then how do you know that you are 15 years old?"

I feel like crying remembering how I know I am 15 years old. But I controlled myself.

"I was left on the street just the next day of my 5th birthday. I don't remember the date but I remember it was November." I said while gritting my teeth.

It's been 10 years but still so painful. Why did fate have to be so cruel? What went wrong that I had to end up on the street just the day of my birthday? I still don't know.

Well, I don't know anything about my life to be honest. I am just like the floating bottle in the sea. Don't have any destination just going with the flow.

I heard Dylan grasped, behind me. What is so shocking?! I wanted to look behind me to check his expressions. But I couldn't dare. I noticed a look passed through Mr Dominic's face also. But it disappeared like it never appeared.

Why are they showing so much interest in my personal life?

"In how many orphanages have you been to till now?"

It's gonna be a long evening, I guess.
