Damilola felt the weight of James's words as they landed heavily on her, and the shock of the situation left her speechless. She couldn't believe that she was going to work for Richard Brown McCall, a man of great wealth and influence. It seemed like something out of a movie, too unrealistic to comprehend.
James, noticing her shock, offered to reject the job offer on her behalf, but Damilola quickly declined, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity. She couldn't understand why Richard would choose someone like her to be his personal assistant when he could have anyone in the world. She was recommended by Mr. Brian, and James explained that Richard had a habit of choosing assistants whenever he visited their office, though he didn't know why. James advised her not to ask Richard about it, as she might regret it.
As Damilola prepared to leave James's office, she hesitated, wanting to ask a question but unsure if it was appropriate. After some contemplation, she decided to go ahead and ask, and James assured her that he was open to answering her questions. She inquired about Richard's preferences and dislikes, wanting to be well-prepared to serve him better. James assured her that he would inform her of anything else she needed to know.
As Damilola was about to leave, James held her back and advised her to inform him if Richard ever did anything to hurt her. She thanked him with a smile and left his office, making her way to Richard's suite with a mixture of nervousness and anticipation.
Upon arriving at the 35th floor, Damilola was stopped by two bodyguards who thoroughly searched her using various detectors for weapons, explosives, and dangerous liquids. Once cleared, she was allowed into Richard's suite, where she was escorted by another bodyguard to the living room. Damilola was mesmerized by the opulence of the room, painted entirely in white with luxurious chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, elegant white couches, and a large TV on the wall. She was in awe of the beauty and extravagance of the place, knowing that Richard, her soon-to-be boss, owned the entire floor, including the presidential suite she was standing in.
The bodyguard turned off the TV and led Damilola to Richard's private quarters, passing by a stunning dining room along the way. Damilola felt like she was on a tour of a palace, overwhelmed by the grandeur and luxury surrounding her.
After coming out of the dinning room, there were two rooms opposite each other. One was slightly ajar, while the other was tightly shut.
The bodyguard led her to the door that was shut.
The door which was slightly ajar, revealed a beautiful bedroom with a king sized bed. The bedroom was painted white and blue.
She could not get a clear view of the room because it wasn't fully opened, but she could testify to how beautiful it was.
The bodyguard knocked on the office study door for a while, before it was opened by another bodyguard.
"Just how many bodyguards does this guy have? It's not like he is a president or something," she thought.
She went into the study quietly. As if any sound she makes will blow up the room.
Immediately she went in, the bodyguard who led her there, went his way. The bodyguard who opened the door also was no where to be found. Damilola who was enveloped in the beauty of the room didn't even have time to be worried about the bodyguards. She started taking in the beauty.
The study room was beyond beautiful.
This time painted white and brown.
The whole study room was painted white but the wooden structures, brown.
She walked towards the office chair, which had a table and two more chairs in front.
Behind his study room chair were three shelves. One of them was occupied with molded things, such as a molded jar, a molded white horse, etc. They were so many.
The second one was occupied with books and the last one was occupied with various paintings.
Some were pasted on the wall also.
He didn't bring many luggages, so, he definitely didn't bring this along. It was all here, all along.
Damilola couldn't help but touch some of the molded things. They were so heavy and looked expensive.
Most of it weren't molded, they were mugs.
Damilola admired the paintings also for a while Before turning around to check the other side of the study.
Though James's office was two times larger than Richard's study, Richard's study was more beautiful, welcoming and in vogue.
Damilola stared at the other side of where she stood, few metres away from where she stood were grey couches, a small black glass table was in the middle.
Just as Damilola wanted to stare further, her eyes caught a floor to ceiling window in front of her which was closed but the curtains were opened. A man stood there and stared at the beautiful view before him. His aura so dignified to be ignored. He was dressed in a white shirt and black trouser. There were two bodyguards behind him. One of them was the guy who opened the door for her.
Damilola felt embarrassed. She was so engrossed in this beautiful sight that she forgot her purpose for coming here.
She walked towards him silently, scared of disrupting this beautiful sight of him starring out through the window, with rays of light shining on him, making him look angelic.
Just as she was about to walk towards him, he turned back, and walked towards the couch. Seeing this, Damilola wanted to hide. She became extremely scared. It looked more like she sneaked her way into the study and was not led inside.
After a while. It dawned on her that she was no burglar and came to see him.
She stood up from where she bent to hide and decided to walk towards him.
Just as she was about to go to him, her eyes caught another beautiful sight.
Richard was sitting on one of the couches, reading a book and occasionally sipping some coffee.
His white shirt wasn't buttoned all the way to the top. He left three buttons opened.
He sat there in silence like he didn't notice Damilola's presence.
Damilola just stared in awe at him. All she wanted to do was take a picture of this breathtaking guy.
He looked more magnificent than ever.
After taking in his beauty for a while, she walked closer to him and said, "Hi, Mr Richard, I am Alex," she said.
The man didn't even act like he was being spoken to, he kept his eyes glued to what he was reading.
After not receiving a response, she continued speaking. "I am Alexandra Hall, the one recommended to be your P.A"
After saying those words, she began to wonder how she got here, how she was recommended to be his P.A. She doesn't even qualify to see him from afar, but she turned out to be recommended to be his P.A. Just what joke was life playing on her?
When she finished speaking, there was still no response from him. Just when she was about to think of what else to say, he raised his head from the book he was reading. Stared at her for a second, before staring away.
Damilola caught a glimpse of his face again and said in thoughts, "Damn! How could a human being look this good?"
After looking away from her, he called one of his bodyguards with a snap of his fingers and said something to him, which she could not hear.
The bodyguard left and came back with an iPad, which he collected from him and handed over to Damilola, still not saying a word.
"That's it? I went through so much trouble just to get here and still didn't get a word from him? Just an iPad? Just what is the use of this iPad?" She thought starring at him in annoyance.
She collected the iPad from him and announced her departure and left as Richard continued reading his book.
