Bad day at school

The day at school was very bad.

I was sent into detention twice. Once for punching Jay Eff in Religion and the other time when Big Bee hit a child and blamed it on me.

The food served in the cafeteria was the only good thing about the day. Cheese fries and burger. They were Mayjay's special. Mayjay was the fat and short school chef. His food always tasted good but his 'Mayjay's special' were certainly special, as the name suggested.

Thinking about today's English class is making my head hurt. Mr.Keat asked us to write about the world we wish existed. I wrote a three pages long essay on 'A World Without Dads'. Everybody laughed at me. I didn't think it was as weird but turns out, it definitely was.

I was stupid. I had become stupid.

So they laughed at me.

When I walked to my locker at the end of the school day, I found a note stuck to it. It read "Nobody messes with the J.F."

Pffft. I laughed. "Fangirls!"

Jay Eff liked to call himself the J.F. like he were someone very famous.

He was, not gonna lie, famous among the girls.

Jay Eff was tall, taller than me and was well built like a skyscraper. He had a great jaw.

He looked actually good, but given the shitty personality he had, I didn't like him one bit. Jay Eff screamed trouble and I liked to stay away from it.

It wasn't even Jay who put the note there. I knew it was some crazy fangirl.

If Jay didn't fight back for once, his fangirls made sure to eat your brain like zombies.

I found another letter inside his locker. Somebody must've put it from underneath. To my surprise, it had the sender's name.

Mia Eff.

Mia was Jay's girl. Jay was actually dating a dozen girls and was only serious about the one from Stephen's High. Everybody knew that. Everybody except Mia. She even wrote her name as Mia Eff –

Like jokes on you girl !

The letter warned me about not laying a finger on Jay again.

I knew it was gonna be about it.

My misery didn't end there.

Of course Jay would have had done something worse. He wouldn't just write a note or a letter. And he was an expert at going over and beyond my expectations and blowing my mind.

Jay had keyed my Honda.

I wasn't going to fight back. I knew I'd lose. Always. And I knew mom wouldn't even care so I just drove it back home like that.

I was hungry now. Mom would return only after 6. I have to cook something. She doesn't cook. I do. She doesn't clean. The maid does. All she does is look after her company The Fray.

I do not feel like cooking but I don't have much choice either.

Mom loves eating rice with beans and egg.

But there were no eggs.

I wash myself, put the rice in the rice cooker and walk out to buy some eggs.

Grofers is just down the lane.

I open the door to find a girl standing on the other side. She is beautiful and I can see it. I can see her radiant smile, her yellow tank top and her brown shorts. I can see the colors. Forgive me for missing out the details, I never saw colors, never saw faces. Had you watched Koe no Katachi, (that's an anime with the English name: A Silent Voice) you'd know what it means when I say that I don't see faces. I scrunch my eyes at the unfathomable truth that I can see her. She reminded me of the sun, bright and fierce. I feel her presence, somewhere inside my chest, somewhat warm, but it lasts only a moment, until she leaves.

An encounter so intriguing, I would definitely think about it again !

I buy the eggs and return to the safety of my home to find the rice already cooked. It smelt good. After I eat the rice with beans, I go up to my room, flop on the bed and instantly fall asleep.

I was tried and as sleep greeted me with it's dark arms, for once, I wasn't scared of falling asleep, wasn't scared of dreaming about him again.

The voice in my head starts ringing sooner this time. I dream of dad again.
