Chapter 16

(this part is a little intense)

They are thrown down on their knees, if June turns to water, they'll kill the others. She sits there, shaking softly.

"She's here somewhere." she mutters softly, moving her lips as little as possible,

Adam hums a soft acceptance. "We aren't enemies!" Roux says,

A woman punches him hard across the face knocking him to his back. Violet jolts but restrains herself, the woman glares at her, and pulls out a knife.

"I dare you."

"We're trying to find someone."

"Why should we believe you?" a man with a large hammer asks,

"Did you not see me?! I could easily turn into water right now. We are searching for the one that can control fire."

"You're mental, you have a insane talent that's it, there is no fire."

"We need them to fight Xenix." Violet pleads,

She pauses widdling her stick, she looks up at the four, then back down and continues.

"Xenix is unkillable." one says,

"Not if we have all four elements."

They punch Adam in the face hard. "Where is she?!" Adam spits, they hit him again,

The woman snorts. "Idiot." she whispers,

"I'm the clan leader, Torik. And you've trespassed, you're liars and theives." the man with a hammer says,

"We aren't! Please! We-"

He jabs Roux in the throat with the end handle of his hammer. Roux coughs and gasps as he falls back, gasping for air.

"Throw them the the cells. Leave the redhead, we're going to show you what we do to theives."

Roux's eyes widen. "No don't touch her!" June spits,

Roux jumps up with insane speed and tackles the man before he can react, two others rip him off and slam their fist into his sternum.

He gasps again and begs for air. The others others struggle to free themselves, the man gets up and swings his hammer into Roux's chest sending him into the air and onto his back hard.

He groans and lies there unconscious. Adam and June both pull against their captor's grips as hard as they can. Violet kicks and pulls, tears streaming her face.

"Please! Please let us go!" she cries,

Torik scoffs, "Sorry little lady, but your boyfriend needs to learn some manners."

They drag Adam, June and Roux away, throwing them into separate metal cages. Violet screams and yells in anger pulling hard.

Flame shoots from her hands, she yells out, they kick her in the face hard, two take turns kicking and stomping on her. She reaches out for anything. Torik throws his hammer down.

She lets out a long loud scream as her forearm breaks into four. June, already turned into water slams against the cracks, but there's some kind of barrier.

"What the hell?!" she screams in anger,

"Future technology. Like it?" a guard asks smirking evilly at them,

Adam clenches his free fist, he stares down at Roux. Tears roll down his cheeks as Violet's screams fill the air.

Finally they stop, they drag her to a metal cage beside theirs and drop her in. She groans and whines.

"Violet?" Adam says,

She lies there on her side and sobs. Night falls and Roux finally groans and wakes. Violet looks over at him.

"Are you okay?" she whines,

He nods, "Filthy pricks."

He grabs his chest. "It feels like horses have been trampling on me." he moans,

"Why couldn't it have been a different element?" June asks,

"This isn't your fault June." Roux says,

Adam stares at the guard, glaring at him.

"No, it's whoever the fricken watchdog is! It's there fault!-it's their damn fault!" she yells,

"Oi! Shut up!" the guard says,

"Or what?" she spits,

"You gonna break my bones too? Let me guess you probably murdered your wife too?"

He smirks, "Nice try."

She laughs, "Oh right, you'd have to actually be attractive, and you know not kill for fun."

"Shut it!"

"I mean seriously, no wonder you're living in the woods, you're a horror to look at. Burning your face would be an improvement."

He marches over, "Listen here you little bit-"

She kicks out in between his legs. He groans and falls backward, she reaches out but just narrowly misses the keys on his belt.

Another guard nearby walks over casually and stares at them.

"What?!" Roux asks,

He powers up an electrical spear he has and touches it against the bar. The three yell out in pain, Violet yells at him, pleading with him to stop. The guard after a few seconds turns the electricity off with a button.

The three fall to the ground and moan in pain. "Do it again, next time I won't stop."

He walks over to the other guard and kicks his side. "Idiot. Get up!"

He turns and walks back to his post. Violet stares at them writhing in pain, they have a healer, which means they can hurt them as much as they want.

Horror, fear, a sense of irrational guilt and hated swirls inside her. The morning comes and the guards shock the cage to leave them weak and powerless. Then take them out one at a time and torture them.

Adam groans loudly and breathes sharply through his nose. She looks up at him, the whip comes down, the spikes tearing through his skin.

He yells out and groans through his gritted teeth and lips.

Her eyes narrow. She can see the hatred in his eyes. If that man's going to recover...she tilts her head to the side as the thought enters.

"Iris?"

A young woman turns to her. "Yes Lacey?"

"Come here."

Iris bends down, she whispers in her ear. "Are you sure?" Iris asks,

She nods, Iris thinks for a few moments and walks over to Adam. They stop and look at her as she kneels in front of him.

"Hey, I know something that might make it better. Just picture the one you love most next to you. Screaming in pain."

He pulls against his restraints hard, regardless of his pain. She giggles, "There you go, that's better. Man I wish I could have seen her die. I bet it was heart wrenching."

He pulls over and over, yelling out, half in anger, half in pain. "Please tell me you at least got to watch? That'd be pretty sad if you weren't there."

Gobs of tears stream his face as he pulls, but the pain is so intense, he's becoming light headed.

"You weren't there were you? Aw that sucks, so she died thinking you abandoned her? I guess you didn't love her enough to be by her side huh?"

He wishes more than anything he could transfer anger into energy. He'd rip these posts out of the ground and beat her with them over and over and over and over long after she was dead.

"Wow, some guy you are. I'm sure she died thinking you didn't even love her. She died completely, and utterly alone. Oh don't look so sad, you'll get to watch your friends die. You'll be together."

He hangs his head, sobbing, tears dripping like from a hose back home, his real home. If this is what Death promised him, he never would've taken it. Just kill him already. Please, kill him already.

"That's how you break someone Iris." she says smirking,

He pulls hard until his strength gives. They heal him and start again. Then finally take him back, and bring June out.

Using handcuffs that are the same technology as the cages.

"If you turn into water and we separate your arm, will it be cut off?" Iris asks,

She takes a powered up spear and presses it against her skin. She screams as loudly as Violet. They shock her for hours, letting her rest every now and then.

"You're a bigger moron than the other three combined." Lacey mutters,

Then Torik is there to meet Roux. They beat him and shock him, whip him and break his bones over and over.

She sets her wooden horse down and listens to him, begging Torik to stop.

"Sorry buddy...but someone's got to die first be thankful it's not your girlfriend."

He grabs his hair and lays his head back to look up at Torik. He draws his hammer back, behind him.

"Hope you already said goodbye."

He lifts and swings his hammer down.
