Day of the Tournament

Ahriman woke up several hours later due to the alarm he had set before going to sleep. He silenced the alarm and groggily climbed out of bed, he walked over to the en suite bathroom and ran the tap. He splashed the water into his face and looked into the mirror, in the corner he could briefly see an Unown stare at him before slowly fading. Shivers were felt down his spine remember his encounter during the night, reconfirming that it wasn't just a nightmare. Getting ready and call his pokemon,

Ahriman: "Ok guys, today is the day of the tournament. Do the best you can and lets see how far our strength has developed so far." Both pokemon look at each before grinning and look back at Ahriman and nodding. After preparing their breakfast and clearing up, Ahriman recalled his pokemon and made his way to the gym. He walked out the building and the day looked bleak, grey clouds with patches of darker clouds. A hint of Ozone could be smelt on the wind signaling rain is making its way down. Looking at his funds, he finds himself a bit short of money, only having a few hundred pokedollars. 'Can't afford an umbrella', hurrying up he jogged his way to the gym least he arrive soaking wet. Ahriman made it to the gym and registered with reception, after registering he made way to the battlefield and took a seat on the side.

He looked around and saw a few children from the school and other teenagers from neighbouring towns seated along the outside of the arena. Taking a free seat, Ahriman tried to concentrate on formulating plans and how to utilise his pokemon, however the events from yesterday kept pulling at his mind. The isn't much information on the Unown and from his brief experience he can see why if they did keep their promise. The one bit he keep thinking about was they said to keep their world a secret, nothing about him knowing of their existence. This carried on until he heard the announcer over the speakers

Announcer: "Morning everyone and thank you for coming today. We will keep it swift and simple and quickly go over the rules. First, pokemon that have evolved twice will be tested before they can enter this tournament. Secondly, we will be using up to 3 Pokemon in the tournament. If you only have 1 or 2 pokemon, tough! Thirdly, no permanent damage will be permitted physically or mentally. We have an onsite pokemon recovery centre if accidents happen. Fourthly, have fun!" After this announcement, he called for all trainers with pokemon that have evolved twice to come up and get them tested. Approaching the desk with a plethora of computers and science equipment, 2 scientists can be seen operating the machines. One of the scientist held out their hand and requested for the pokeball to be scanned. Handing over his Alakazam, the pokeball is placed on a device unknown to him and they get to work. Moments later an image of Alakazam is present on one of the monitors and 1 by 1 a chart is being filled out, whilst looking at the chart he can see there are lines present and other than 1 bar, the rest were below the line, some were close but just stop short.

The pokeball was handed back to Ahriman and the scientist gave him a slip of paper, the paper had basic information of the pokemon inside and a graph with the pokemon overall power. Ahriman was then instructed to head to the announcer and give him the slip, it will allow the pokemon to participate in the tournament. Feeling relieved he's not limited to the one pokemon, given the other trainers could have up to 3 and their strength is unknown at this time. He walked over to the announcer, handed him the slip of paper and sat down on his seat. After 30 minutes of waiting in silent meditation, the announcer was back on his platform and started speaking.

Announcer: "Ok, most trainers have signed in and anyone not present have now forfeit. Our team have entered everyone's information into their system and we should have the first list of trainers to compete. As soon as you see your name and image appear on the screen behind me, can you please make your way to the arena." After 30 - 60 seconds later the first pair were shown. it was boy name Jake verses another boy called Tony. Both trainers got up and headed to field, after a quick summary of the rules. Both trainers threw out their pokemon and officially starting the tournament.

The match didn't last that long, both trainers were aggressive from the get go and focused more on attacking then defense. The field had dirt flooring with large outcroppings of rocks on either side and a small pond on either side, using his psychic power he could feel that both ponds were connected by a tunnel. Neither trainer took advantage of the rocks to try block sight and use any tactic, there was an instance of when one of the trainers was looking to use the rocks but it only turned out to be used as a platform to launch off from. Not taking any interest other than keeping track of what pokemon was seen, he went back to meditating and without noticing started to slightly raise off his seat catching the attention of nearby trainers and staff. After 4 more matches, his turn finally arrive and he made his way up to the arena. Looking forward he could see one of the girl from the camp and vaguely remembered she had a Bellsprout.

Both trainers greeted each other and prepared to throw out their first pokemon, Ahriman through out Natu, whilst Annabelle through out her Bellsprout. The announcer gave the same summary as the previous matches and started the match, "Natu go into the rocks and use it as cover whilst you power up with calm mind." barked Ahriman. Natu quickly made his way to the rocks and started powering up, at the same time, Annabelle commander her Bellsprout to plant it roots and use growth. Whilst both trainers had their pokemon to power up, Ahriman was the first to break this and command Natu to use its speed and agility to fly between the rocks and attack Bellsprout with Stored Power. At this point both pokemon had powered up 4 times, Natu teleported to the other side of the stage, flew out of the rocks and used Stored Power. The attack had a centre orb of swirling purple energies, orbiting the centre orb are 4 small blue swirling orbs of energy and 4 small pink orbs of energy.

The attack was to quick for the Bellsprout to evade after losing track of Natu so Annabelle commanded it to hit the orb using vine whip to try and alter it trajectory. With the attack stat being buffed due to growth, hit the orb and managed to alt it path enough to just fly past and missing Bellsprout entirely. Natu repeated this strategy but Bellsprout was able to repel each attack. Natu getting impatient, teleported above Bellsprout and used the same attack. This time Bellsprout had no time to react or look for Natu as it was hit and pummeled into the ground creating a small cloud of dirt. After the cloud settled, Bellsprout could be seen lying on the dirt and had fainted. Natu flew back to Ahriman and chirped happily. "Good work Natu. Keep it up, the next opposition is up.".

Just as he said this, Annabelle recalled Bellsprout and sent forth her next pokemon. This time a Spinarak was sent forth. Annabelle quickly sent Spinarak in to the rocky outcroppings on her right and command Spinarak to use string shot on the rocks to make pathways and climbable areas.

Ahriman: "Natu, don't give them chance to set up and use Stored Power". With this command, Natu took off into the air and went to get an aerial view. After spotting the opponent, he dived down picking up speed and just before the point of no return, attacked and pulled up, the attack gaining momentum from the dive, hitting Spinarak and sending it flying into a nearby rock creating a small creator in the rock face. This however, didn't take him out as intended and started using Sling shot in quick succession to make a large mess of string intending to stop attacks and catch Natu in flight. Natu thinking it was taken care of, flew up into the air before slowly looking back and finding this expanse of string. Whilst Natu was thinking of what to do next, Spinarak kept on expanding the string at a steady pace and quickly covered half of the rocks on the one side. Ahriman at this point shouted up to carry on using calm mind until it failed to boost any higher and then use Stored power to blast the area. After 2 more Calm Mind, Natu felt his Psychic power hit his limit and started using Stored power, however the orb now had 12 small orbs rotating around it and the size of all the orbs was now bigger. As the orbs hit the ground a small explosion of dirt and rock was propelled from the impact shredding the string and revealing a large area, Natu did this a few more times before Annabelle called out that she surrenders and gives up.

Annabelle recalled her pokemon and quickly walked off stage, Natu flew back to Ahriman and perched on his shoulder. Petting Natu he walked back to his seat and gave it a berry as a reward before recalling him. The next two trainers were sent up and Ahriman found himself meditating again whilst occasionally looking at the pokemon used to gauge his possible competition, he wasn't that bothered as he soon realised he could sense a small object from above the arena. He then started to focus his Psychic senses onto the object, he could see a small metallic spider crawling along the ceiling. Intrigued by this thing, he observed the spider and noticed it was watching the battles ongoing below. He opened his eyes and starred up but couldn't see the device due to the distance and its size. Going back to his Psychic sense, he looked closer and saw a small badge with a dark red R on the centre torso. Ahriman felt no sort of energy coming off the thing as a pokemon would radiate and felt more like an object human would produce. Unsure on the device's purpose, he grabbed the metallic spider and brought it down next to him, quickly covering the device with a cloth. he walked over to one of the gym workers and handed it over. The gym workers looked at the device surprised and was curious of the device until one of the staff saw the deep red R and instantly recognised its meaning. He quickly snatched the device, said something to the other staff members before rushing over to the scientist.
