Chapter 17: Unsolved Case: Cathlia (part 3)

Louie and I went to the police station and will try to ask if they had a record about a ten-year-old girl, Cathlia that was thrown in the cliff near the KirkView Hillside year 2005.

"Excuse me, sir. Do you have the year 2005 record about a ten-year-old girl that was thrown in the cliff near the KirkView Hillside?" I asked while a dark browned haired police was busy examining the contents of files in front of him while talking someone to on the phone. He covered the mouthpiece, "Sorry but please wait."

I sigh and wait for the police to put the phone off. Police seemed busy, talking to someone in their telephone and was simultaneously checking a lot of files. Louie sits on the chair and watch the polices. I remained standing, looking at the police.

"Okay… thank you, bye" the police turned the phone off. "Yes?"

"I was asking if do you still have the 2005 record about a ten-year-old girl that was thrown in the cliff in the KirkView Hillside. I was asking if I can get a copy of it and would like to ask some questions from you, sir about the case"

"Okay but... May I ask why you need it? For what purposes?" asked the police, looking at the contents of the files in front of his table.

"For an informative writing in school"

"I'm sorry but we can't give the information. We need a request paper with a signage from your teacher asking for information for your informative writing so that we can give the information to you"

"Oh, I forgot that but can you please give me the information? I left the request paper at home, I thought it wasn't needed" I lied. He heaves a sigh, stopped examining the contents of the files and glanced at me.

"I'm sorry, miss, but we can't"

Defeated, I nod and replied "okay, I'll be back to get the request paper at home." I turned around and walked to Louie, "We should go now", Louie stood up and followed me. The sound of the police typing to their keyboards and talking to their phones filled the police station as we walked through.

"So, what did the police officer said?" Louie asked. I sighed and sit on the stairs and stared at the aligned black and white police cars in front of me. "I need a request paper from Mr. Miller to get an information." Louie glanced down, "so...what will we do?"

I smirked and had an idea, "Do you know Mr. Miller's signature? And can you write a request paper?"

"I can write request paper and yes, I know Mr. Miller's signature since he signed my paper with his si-"

"Then let's make it" I said as I stood up and smirked at Louie. Louie's eyes widen, "What do you-"

I cut Louie's sentence off, "Louie, You'll make the request paper and I do the forging" and grabbed Louie by the hand and went to the nearest library.

"And done..." Louie said as he was done making the request paper. I told Louie to take his phone and I'll copy the signature of Mr. Miller.

"B-But lily, I don't think this is a good idea. What if we'll get sued f—" Louie was warned with the unison of shh in the library. Louie glanced down, embarrassed of the warning. I smirked and looked at him.

"You can't survive if you keep following the rules, Louie. Society doesn't work that way anymore" I quietly said as I glanced back to the paper and continue to forge. ________________________________

"Here, sir" I said as I handed the police officer the request paper and panted as if I'm running. "Did you run from your home?" I nodded and acted as if I'm still panting.

"Okay, follow me" He said and stood up. I told Louie that he should wait at the chair where he was seated earlier. I followed the police officer as we walked through the glass walls dividing police officers. I halted as the police officer opened the room and reads "Police Records Room". A room full of files and drawers that were arranged alphabetically and some files stacked in the middle is what greeted me and the police officer.

"What's the name of that ten-year old again?" he asked as he looked at the tag on the drawers.

"Cathlia, sir"

"Cathlia...Cathlia." the police officer muttered as he opened each file drawers, finding the name of Cathlia. My eyes glanced around. Storage boxes that holds different files. Lot of file folders were piled and was put in the shelves, must have thousands of cases that is solved and was unsolved.

"Here" the police officer said as he handed me a folder. I took it away from his hand and take a look its contents. A picture of Cathlia was pinned on the side of the folder. She has the same feature of Felicia, asian eyes, button nose and a smile with so much innocence.

Case No: 1200502

Date: February 10, 2005

Name of the Victim: Cathlia

Location: KirkView Hillside

Victim's sex: Female

Victim's age: 10

Time frames:

The victim went out of the house 4:00 pm and never returned

The discovery was found 8: 00 am.

They only had the time frames. I turn the next page and the horrifying photos on the scene where Cathlia's body found. Each photos has the closer view of Cathlia. Her body was the same of what the newspaper had that her body and limbs were broken. My brows furrowed, they don't have much evidence.

"We don't have many clues"

"But did you ask about the mother?''

"Yes, she told us that her daughter was going out but she didn't know where. We don't know who threw Cathlia on the cliff and what's the reason why she was being thrown. Some theorize that it's suicidal but we can say it's unlikely since we found some scratches on the girls' calf as if it was being dragged to the cliff, but we can't find the fingerprints. The investigators said it was being dragged, it was said also that the body was thrown around 11:55 in the evening. The victim's eyes isn't recognizable and was claimed it was being drenched with acid. "

I looked again at the folder.

"It was all planned out by the suspect. We lack of evidences."

"Can I help you with this, police officer?" The police officer looked at me, surprised. "Oh no, its okay. It's our j—"

"But I want to help. At least let me help"

The police sighed and nodded. "Thank you" and give me a smile. I smiled at the police officer and looked back at the folder, "can I keep this, police officer?"

"You have an informative writing so okay but give it back to us once you are done"

I nodded at him, "I'll come back here and hope my evidences and theories can justify this case"

The police officer smiled at me, "you sure have a gut, a little girl. Okay, will wait for you to come back with the evidences"

And I went out and tried to find the truth.
