Chapter 19: It couldn't be

I skipped my class and Louie did too. It's so out of character of him to skip class but he likes to help me find the truth of Cathlia.

"What order do you want?" A burgundy haired waitress around her thirties wearing a blue and white striped dress with a white apron was in front of Lilith and Louie. Lilith tries to control herself from laughing by glancing down at the menu, seeing the waitress makes her think of a fast food logo Wendy's except its frowning. Louie was looking at the menu.

"I'll take 2 pieces of burger and a large size of nachos" Louie said as he placed the menu on the table and looked at Lilith that was still glancing down. "Lily?"

"Oh! A large size of fries please" The waitress wrote all their orders down and went her way off. Lilith let out a laugh, she couldn't hold it. Louie is looking at her, confusion in his face. Lilith laughed as she saw Louie's confused face. His face looks like Gavin Thomas confused.

Lilith laughed silently as she pointed out to the waitress who is now on the other table, writing the customer's order. "S-She... she looks like Wendy's", Louie stared at the waitress and laughed.

"I cannot unseeee!" They both laughed silently. Lilith tapped the table to stop herself from laughing. Louie stopped himself from laughing and pulled the newspaper from his bag, putting it in front of Lilith.

"So, this is the newspaper article that I've read in the library. It's about the couple in 1997 that worships demon and can change themselves what they lik-"

"Wait, that is the couple that was on the newspaper article in 1998" I said as I took my newspaper out my bag and let Louie read it. "Got this newspaper from Mrs. Foyer"

"By the way, I also knew that Cathlia and Felicia were sisters. " Louie gave me a curious look, "Really..?? How?"

'Mrs. Foyer told me yesterday. She actually know Felicia because of rumors spreading around. There are rumors about Felicia and her sister coincidentally, Cathlia" Louie slowly nodded and looked at the newspaper, "L-Lily.. w-why do you want this case to be solved? Apparently, we should only solved Felicia's case but.. with Cathli-"

"Louie.. yes, we should only solved Felicia's case but... everyone needs justice. I want to help Felicia's sister too. To me, every victim needs justice. We don't know the story both sides.. that's why we should find the truth. And I won't stop till I get the justice for them both. Who knows we can find something that can connect to the main root of Felicia's death"

Louie smiled, "That's so nice of you, lily and yes who knows that we can find something that can connect to the main root of Felicia's death. Having a friend like you is like a bliss. I will help you, lily" I stared at Louie's mint green eyes.

"You should fix your glasses, doofus." Louie quickly fixed his glasses shoving it back."Oh!"

"You should stop saying funny things or else your glasses will slide and you'll shove it back again" Louie let out a laugh and continue to eat his burger and reads the newspaper.

The red and blue colored striped walls diner with yellow tables and chairs soon filled with customers. Their chattering filled the diner as waitresses were busy, moving to and fro writing the orders of their customers.

"A fifty-two-year-old woman was found dead on her room last night, 10 pm …"

The television on the news caught Lilith's attention as she drank her water. "Police found out that the woman is identified as Mrs. Helen Foyer"

Lilith's eyes widened and almost couldn't swallow, she couldn't believe of what she heard from the news. "The discovery was made by her son. The investigators said that the victim was being strangled in her sleep using the barb wires before she was stabbed deeply multiple times on the back"

The news anchor said as a censored Mrs. Foyer on her bed, drenched with her own blood, flashes on the television screen along with the pictures of the crime scene.

No, it can't be.

"I want to see my mother since I just arrived home from Italy. I want to surprise her but then..." the son of Mrs. Helen Foyer named Alistair started to cry, tears welled up on the corner of his eyes." I'm sorry... I..." and Alistair covered the camera. "There were no fingerprints nor traces of the suspect. Investigators claimed it was planned by the suspect, all they witnessed in the crime was a fifty-two-year old woman on her bed."

Lilith couldn't speak. She just met Mrs. Foyer yesterday and she couldn't believe that it's their last meeting. She feels sorry of Mrs. Foyer son that arrived from Italy and was greeted by a gruesome death of a mother. A drop of tear fell on Lilith's hand. Louie took a glance on Lily and saw her crying, he stopped mid-way of munching his burger.

"L-Lily, wh-why are you crying?" a concerned Louie asked. Lilith looked at him, "My.. my counselor is dead" and pointed to the television screen. Louie watched at the television screen and sadness crosses his face. Lilith shake her head slightly and didn't believe of what the news just announced.

"I-I'm sorry to hear that, Lily..."

Lilith glanced down and clenched her fist, shaking her head slightly. Mrs. Foyer's words yesterday hit Lilith already, she couldn't believe that her counselor is dead.

"I'll see you again, Ms. Barkley. Glad that a week past from seeing me, you're doing great! I look forward seeing you again"

Those final words of Mrs. Foyer triggered Lilith to cry more. Her tears wouldn't stop to flow, she silently cried, didn't hear and mind the occurrences around her.

"You are a one of a kind person, Ms. Barkley"

"You're different from others, Miss Barkley and that is so unique of you"

"Believe in yourself, Miss Barkley. Don't believe others more than you believe in yourself."

"Miss Barkley, I don't think you are crazy. Some people just don't understand our perspectives. If that's what you believe, then go for it"

"That's so nice of you, Miss Barkley"

All the words gave Lilith a tinch of an ache in her heart as her tears flowed out of the corner in her eyes.
