Chapter 19: When William Knows

"Luka!" A sudden force knocked Luka to the ground. "I missed you, shorty!" William was the source of that sudden impact, his slightly muscular frame overwhelming the fragile Luka.

Luka's instinctive reaction was to protect his stomach. "William." He grinned at his now fully mated best friend.

After a minor argument about Luka's health, the devil finally allowed him to get out of bed, though it resulted in a tangled mess.

The throne room had somehow become the go-to spot for the couples to spend time together, and now they found themselves there once again.

"How are you feeling, mistress?" Jonathan smirked at the poor, innocent, clueless Luka.

"What do you mean, Jonathan?" Luka rolled his eyes and nestled his small body against Xavier's muscular and surprisingly comfortable frame. The devil wrapped his arms around the smaller figure and shot a dagger-like glare in Jonathan's direction. William snickered and wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at Luka.

"You were quite loud and vocal, my dear friend," Luka caught up with William's words, only for him to toss more embarrassing comments. "Sometimes having super hearing is the worst thing in the world."

"Oh my god." Luka turned and hid his petite frame beneath Xavier's arms. "Son of a bitch!" Luka cursed and playfully punched Xavier, which only elicited a chuckle from the devil and laughter from the other two in the room.

"You were irresistible, my soulmate," Xavier whispered to the blushing Luka, causing his cheeks to turn even redder.

"Ugh, guys!" William huffed. "Super hearing, remember?"

"I hate you all!" Luka exclaimed in frustration, but his delicate frame and flushed face made him resemble a frustrated puppy.

"I'm Asmodeus," Jonathan smirked, pointing to himself and then to William, continuing, "and he's Asmodeus's soulmate." William's eyes always lit up at the mention of their bond. "I'm the demon of lust, and Will is the demon of lust's soulmate. What did you expect, Luka?"

"Don't tease my soulmate, Jonathan," Xavier rolled his eyes and hugged Luka tightly.

"Listen to him, Jonathan," Luka said, playfully glaring at him. Before Luka, they were all individuals, living in their own worlds. But when the little half-angel brought them together and unknowingly formed a bond with each of them, everyone in the room was grateful.

"Now, can we have some best friend quality time?" William suggested, giving Luka a knowing look. "You guys can go... do whatever you want."

"Are you kicking me out of my own throne room, half-angel?" Xavier raised an eyebrow, though his expression wasn't threatening in the slightest.

"And!" Jonathan interjected, feigning a hurt expression. "Are you banishing your soulmate from your sight?" He faked a sob. "How could you?!"

"No shit, Sherlock," William rolled his eyes. "You guys have been... a little clingy..." He grinned sheepishly.

"Am I clingy?" Xavier looked down at his soulmate, only to find Luka staring at him with an amused expression.

"What are we, William?" Luka ignored Xavier and looked at his best friend with amusement shining in his silver eyes. William snickered, already aware of what Luka was about to say. "We tamed two high-ranked angels and demons."

"Fabulous, my friend." William laughed. "We are absolutely fabulous!"

Xavier rolled his eyes, and Jonathan looked at them with a go-to-hell glare, but since they were already in hell... well, whatever.

"I suppose it's time for us to leave," Jonathan said to Xavier, who nodded. "And you, my dear, will be punished for talking like that." His eyes darkened, and William blushed. "In bed, I might add."

"Xavi, please give me and my friend a little time to catch up and maybe gossip a bit about what's been happening," Luka said in his calm tone, though the redness still tinted his pale face. "And you, Jonathan, please go and buy a filter."

"What do you mean? Filters are for those metallic things that humans travel with. I don't need them," Jonathan replied foolishly, causing the devil to roll his eyes. Xavier questioned once again why he chose Jonathan as his right-hand man.

"We've tried being nice about it," William stated, fixing his gaze on Jonathan and darkly threatened, "Will. You. Leave?"

"We'll meet at the Narcissus Garden," Luka sensed that William wanted to discuss something more than a simple catch-up. It was something important that involved them but shouldn't be overheard by the other two. "Join us there in an hour."

Xavier looked at his soulmate and understood what Luka was thinking. It was a significant matter that William wanted to share, but Jonathan, being the foolish and lustful demon he was, failed to grasp the seriousness of it.

"Alright," Xavier said with a tender expression, leaning down to kiss the little boy's lips. Jonathan watched the affectionate display of the devil in awe, and William grew impatient once again.

"I love you," Luka whispered against Xavier's lips, and Xavier reciprocated the sentiment before they finally separated.

"No kisses for me?" Jonathan jokingly asked William, only to receive a death glare in return. "Okay! No kisses for me then! I'll be fine!" The high-ranked demon pouted.

"Come here," William chuckled, pulling the demon closer and giving him a gentle kiss. Xavier and Jonathan then left. "Finally!" William let out a sigh of relief, and Luka chuckled.

The two hybrids shifted seats, now sitting side by side. "What's the important thing you wanted to tell me?" Luka asked, observing William's pensive expression.

"Should I get straight to the point?" William inquired, and Luka nodded. "Alright then. Brace yourself." Luka playfully took a deep breath, prompting William to give him a playful glare. "Did Xavier use protection during sex?"

Luka choked on his saliva and stared at his best friend with wide eyes. A crimson blush spread across his face, reaching his cheeks, ears, and neck. "Um... we... um... didn't..."

William's eyes widened, and he glanced at Luka's belly. He had wondered if his intuition upon seeing Luka was correct, and now he knew it was true.

"What is it, Will?" Luka asked, concern evident in his voice. William's expression was far too thoughtful, which unnerved him. "Will?" he called again when William didn't even flinch.

"Angels can sense life, you know that, right?" William asked, and Luka shook his head. "Well, now you do. Angels can sense life, even if it hasn't fully formed yet."

Luka nodded. "What does this have to do with me?"

"Today, I sensed a new life with you, in addition to your own," William added the last part when he noticed Luka's confusion. "I still feel it, and with each passing second, it grows stronger, Completer."

"What does that mean, William?" Luka asked, terrified. "What's happening to me? Is it because of being a soul for a week? Is it a bad thing?"

"I don't know if it's bad," William replied thoughtfully. "Only you and Xavier can decide that. But if you want my honest opinion, I think it's a good thing, even though we're in the midst of a mission and facing the possibility of a war."

"What is it, William?" Luka inquired once more.

For a moment, William contemplated lying. The truth would likely freak out Luka. But then again, it was

Luka's life, and he deserved to know what was happening. William could only hope that Luka wouldn't be as overwhelmed as he anticipated.

"You're creating a life inside of you, Luka," William whispered. "You're creating something powerful, and it's growing rapidly." He paused briefly, locking eyes with his best friend, whose silver eyes were now completely focused on him. "Luka, you're pregnant." He paused again. "You're going to have a child."
