Alexa got home feeling ecstatic and whole. She was aware of the massive change she underwent over the past few hours and it gave her a very fulfilling desire. It changed everything she thought she knew about her mother's profession.
"Well somebody's mood finally lifted", her mother commented as they were both seated on the couch.
"I have been like this for hours now", Alexa chortled.
"Hmm, I wonder what caused such delight in your mind", her mother playfully said. "Or who..."
Marzia and Alexa bantered at each other until Alexa's father walked in from work. It was quarter to seven by then and Alexa's mother knew that her husband must be famished. So, she stands up and walks to the kitchen to prepare some food for Conor.
"Honey, let Beth do that", he said.
"No, it's alright. I'm not tired at all", Marzia replied.
Alexa told everyone that she's gonna go ahead and call it a night. When nobody noticed what she said, she decided to just go up to her room. As soon as she went in, she slumped into her bed. Her phone rang, notifying her of a message she just received.
She immediately thought about Travis and the last thing he had said to her earlier that day. Alexa got really excited and picked up her phone. Looking at her lock screen, she reads the message from someone named Mystery Guy.
It read, "You already know who I am" and it made Alexa's heart flutter. She rolled over the bed and made several kicks in the air. She was certain she was blushing. The feeling was brand new for a girl like Alexa, but she wasn't worried.
Then she remembered Stacy. She wished things between them would become clearer so she could tell Stacy everything she's feeling. Her best friend was always the most knowledgeable when it came to guys. Then Alexa recalled what had happened in the morning at school.
"What is happening to me?", she said to herself.
She felt happy and strange, but also sad and in pain. She was happy to finally meet her mystery guy, but she was also devastated that Stacy was acting very weirdly these days. All of it was making her crazy. Alexa wasn't used to being overwhelmed with mixed emotions. Everything used to be really grey and dull in her life.
Alexa went to sleep at exactly eight o'clock in the evening. She wanted to make sure that the next day will definitely be a non-tragic day for her. As she dozed off into wonderland, she began to have the strangest yet most beautiful dream she ever had.
"Will you be my date for prom?", Travis asked.
"What? Are you sure?", Alexa asked back.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be? You're the most beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes on in the surface of the earth", he exclaimed.
"Oh, Travis. I never knew that you felt this way for me", Alexa said in awe.
"Do you feel the same for me?", he asked again.
Before Alexa could even speak, Stacy suddenly appeared out of nowhere and snatched Travis from her. She kissed him passionately on the lips and Travis kissed her back. They suddenly looked so in love with each other and Alexa began to cry.
Just as she was about to leave the two of them alone, a handkerchief was lent by a guy that also appeared right out of nowhere in front of Alexa. She took the handkerchief and wiped her tears with it. When she looked up, she saw a bright shining light, making it hard to see the guy's face. When she tried to reach out for him, she suddenly felt like she was touching him for real.
But his face didn't feel as skinny as she figured from his silhouette. She pinched and squeezed his face and it felt so fat and wrinkled. Alexa was getting really confused. She decided to reach out with her other hand but before she could, her soul almost jumped out of her body when she heard him speak.
"Wake up!", shouted Beth.
Alexa opened her eyes in shock and realized that she was holding Beth's face all along. She thought it was funny, but the look on Beth's face made her get out of bed and get ready for school instead. She paused in the middle of the room, looking confused.
"Why did you have to wake me up? What happened to my alarm?", Alexa asked, looking at her alarm clock.
"You threw it off the table, now it's broken. Oh and also, you're late", Beth explained with a poker face before getting out of the room.
"Wait, what?", Alexaa gasped and checked the time on her phone.
She yelped when she realized that it was already forty-five minutes past the hour of seven. She only had approximately fifteen minutes to get dressed and rush to school. As she did, she noticed that her father and her mother already went to work because there weren't any cars parked in the garage anymore.
This made her more anxious and desperately waited outside for a cab. She tried Uber, but all the closest vacant cars were about ten minutes away and she didn't even have that much time. Hunger didn't seem to bother her either. She just stood on the sidewalk, loudly hoping for a taxi to pass by.
Then to her surprise, a guy in a motorbike pulled over in front of her. She didn't recognize who it was because he wore a helmet, but when he removed it, Alexa wanted to faint in relief. It was Kyle. He gave her a spare helmet and then put on his. Alexa climbed into his motorbike and he started driving, fast.
"Please don't kill us", Alexa kept saying throughout the trip.
Like a miracle, they arrived two minutes before the school would close the gates. They rushed inside the campus and got to their respective classrooms. But before they could even part ways, Alexa expressed her gratitude through a quick hug.
