Chapter Forty-three

I was a nervous wreck as the school day progressed, I had not seen Sam in the halls, classrooms, or in the gym. I exhaled a depressed sigh. Did he not come to school? I had no way of finding out. I could not ask around if anyone had seen him in fear of you-know-who finding out. I even unblocked his number and called him but it did not go through. Was he skipping school or did something happen already? No, surely, I would have heard by now, right? Over and over again, I checked my phone to see if he had read or replied any of my texts.

"Let's put that phone away, miss Hamilton." The teacher snapped.

I stuffed the phone inside my pocket and looked back at the satisfied teacher. Even more annoying, the class was crawling by minute-by-minute.
