Chapter Forty-nine

I started laughing hysterically while they watched me with wary eyes.

"I'm taking a long damn time to wake up and my nightmares are taking a turn for the worse. I'll just go wash my face, maybe I'll break through then." I started to get up but Dad refused to let my hand go.

"It's not a dream, Alex." He tried to look into my eyes but it was only for a second and in that one second the grief I saw in his eyes told me he was telling the truth. A truth I refused to believe. I fought his hand off me.
