Evelyn's last

Hera wasn't coming, something must have happened with the enderman. I definitely would chew someone out for this, if I lived past today that is. I wasn't sure I would. Notch looked pretty much like he wanted nothing more then to kill me.

"Sir," I went for respectful, maybe I'd soften him. "I think there's been a misunderstanding."

Notch didn't even blink, "you killed my son." He had cold anger in his voice. but somehow it made him feel more dangerous.

I felt a small surge of panic, what could I say. Then I had an idea, "I have come with good news! You're son is alive and well." As soon as I said this I knew it was the wrong thing to say, Notch's face hardened.

"EvelynEnder, I don't care to hear your mockery. My son Steve has been murdered by you. I don't know what possessed you to come here, perhaps to beg? But your time is wasted."

Maybe it was time for me to get out of here now. I gathered my teleportation powers, but they wouldn't work. I tried once, twice. Notch watched me silently.

I heaved a breath and looked up at him.

"Going somewhere?" he said.

I could tell my time was running out. How could I delay him? Then I had an idea.

"Let me show you something, I am not who you think I am. I'm Ender's daughter Evelyn!" I yelled. Then I felt my body seize up, I couldn't move at all.

"I've had enough of these games."

The air seemed to be leaving my body now. But I couldn't move at all.

I was going to die here.

"Wait!"

I knew that voice well.

At once my body came back to life. I fell forward gasping for air, coughing and wheezing till I felt whole again. I felt arms wrap around me helping me to my feet.

"Evelyn!" Hera cried.

"I'm okay, I'm okay."

I looked at Notch, his face had drained of anger, now there was only surprise.

"Steve..." He said quietly.

Steve looked slightly sheepish, "I'm here father. I'm alive again."

"I don't understand..." Notch shook his head slightly, "you were dead."

Hera took my hand and lightly moved me aside.

Steve and Notch stared at each other in awe. I watched a single tear gather at Notch's eye and slip down his face.

"What happened?" Notch said at last.

"Entity 0 attacked the house," Steve said, he tried to keep his voice steady but it wobbled with emotion. "She tried to kill the children too, but EvelynEnder saved them."

Notch looked over to me, "is this true?" he said this all quietly.

"It is true," I said.

Notch tilted his head slightly.

That's when I let my form melt away. Now I was a girl again, I looked like normal Evelyn. I saw recognition in Notch's eyes.

"You really are Ender's daughter then?" He said, then frowned slightly, "where is Ender?"

It was Hera's turn to look sheepish, "we had to leave him in the forest to get here in time."

Notch nodded, "I see."

"Couldn't have waited a few more minutes?" The door at the end of the hall opened and in came Ender.

"We had not a moment to spare," Hera replied, she sounded more relaxed now. "Notch nearly killed her." She ruffled my hair a bit.

I think in that moment we were all slightly embarrassed. Notch had tried to kill his best friends daughter, Hera had left her boss in the woods. Ender had nearly allowed his boss to kill his daughter and had gotten left in the woods, and Steve just looked slightly uncomfortable, possibly because if he had listened to us none of this would have happened. This all made me laugh, maybe it was the near death experience high. I laughed loudly, and soon I had Hera giggling too, Steve gave us a look but he started to chuckle. Ender kinda grinned but it was lopsided which made me laugh more. I wiggled away from Hera and over to my father. I threw my arms around him and hugged him tightly. He wrapped his arms back around me.

"I'm glad to have you back Evelyn. I'll be a good father this time, I swear."

For once I believed him. He may have made mistakes in the past, but I knew he meant to correct them, and I loved him for it.
