His Dragon

In a faraway land and back in time very different from our time now, a young Prince named Ruka Whitlock, son of King Marvin Whitlock and Queen Emily Whitlock.

Ruka was a sickly boy; he was thin and small for his age; Marven and Emily worried for their baby, so they read any books on medical they had access to ask their oracle, and finally, they found an answer save their boy's life.

They were given a map of a magical lake in a far part of the kingdom. The lake is only known in stories and legends, but they decided to take a chance.

The King and Queen got on their horses and rode off. They followed the map for hours onto days, they stopped to take a break, and while getting off his horse, the King dropped the map into a puddle; when he looked down, he watched as the map revealed a glowing path. When the two followed, they found the lake. So they followed the legend and walked into the water. The King held their son just a little over the water. They prayed for the spirits of the lake to help their son. Eventually, the lake started to glow a very bright blue and from the trees approached a dragon; the King and Queen held each other close as the dragon lowered its head to them, the dragon gently pressed his nose against the baby's head; the dragon started to glow then turned into little orbs of light and landed on Ruka's petite body. The lights faded away after the lights dimmed back down. Ruka began to cry; he began to get color to his pale skin; his white hair turned black, and his eyes went from brown to blue. The parents started crying with happiness that their baby was saved.

When Ruka was 5, he and his parents discovered blue and white scale patches on parts of his body—so wanting to know what was going on. The dragon was gone along with the water and plant life, they turned around, ready to leave, but Ruka saw a shiny blue rock in the middle of the dried-up lake. He walked over to th rock and reached for it, but a bright flash of light came out of the stone as he did. When Marvin and Emily turned around, they watched Ruka morph into a small white and blue dragon like the one that saved him.

Ruka looked at himself and his new dragon body then jumped around in excitement then flew over to his parents, who were stunned and confused. Emily held her dragon son and looked at her husband, it took them some time, but they got comfortable with it and embraced it. After that, the King and Queen decided to keep Ruka's dragon a secret from those who didn't work in the palace or who they did not trust.

When Ruka was 12, their people confronted the family after their knights spilled Ruka's secret. First, they tried showing that Ruka was harmless, but many didn't believe them; then, a war broke out, those who didn't want the prince killed fought the ones who thought the King and Queen.

The war went on till Ruka was 14, he lost his parents in the third year of the battle, and after losing his mother and father, he decided he had enough. So Ruka stood on top of the castle and morphed into his dragon form. He roared and dove down into the crowd and chased away those who were hurting him and his people. Ruka chased them out of the kingdom, and when they were out of sight, he killed the group that killed his parents and brutally injured the rest.

Ruka landed on top of the castle; after using his dragon to win the war, he let out another roar and used one of his dragon's powers and erase the kingdom's memories and everyone's who was around the kingdom. Hekingdom's decided to keep his dragon a secret like his parents wanted. No one knew, only Ruka and his closest friend Thoma Ruka's head guard.

When Ruka turned 18, he was officially crowned King taking his father's throne; he had a crown made since he didn't want Marvin's. He kept his mother and father's heights in a glass box in the thrown room to keep them with him.

Ruka was now 22 and ruling his kingdom with kindness and care as the previous King and Queen taught him.

Ruka was sleeping in his chambers when Thomas barged in, waking him up.

"What the hell is going on?!" Ruka asked as he was jolted awake.

"Marvin and Emily's crowns have been stolen!" Thomas told him.

"What?!"

Ruka ran to the throne room and saw the smashed glass from the case.

"Who took them?" he asked in anger.

"Some girl. We saw her put them in a bag and run," a guard told him.

"Call back everyone who's searching for the girl I'm going myself," Ruka told the man.

"With all due respect, your highness, you can't find one girl yourself."

"Do as I say."

The guard listened and called everyone back; after Ruka saw his guards back, he went to leave and search himself, but Thomas grabbed his arm and said, "if you use it, you could get caught," referring to his dragon.

"The bitch has my parent's crowns. I'm getting them back," Ruka said, yanking his arm from Thomas's grip.

Ruka left the inside of the kingdom and morphed into a full-grown dragon, and flew up into the sky. He was above the clouds to not be seen, but he could still see the ground then spotted the girl with the crowns.

"Got you."
