Fear

Thomas and Mora ran after Ruka, asking question after question.

"AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME THIS WHY!?" Thomas asked.

"YOU!? What about me? I'm the one water said he was going to marry!" Mora reminded him.

"You just found out he was the dragon you were hanging around with."

"Both of you need to be quiet," Ruka told them. Ruka looked at Mora and saw she both was scared and confused.

"Look, Mora, you're a sweet girl. I don't know why I took care of you, but I did, and you took care of me. You're the first stranger that hasn't run away from me in terror and called me your friend and I appreciate that, but I brought you here because I was told to so you wouldn't be hurt and please the spirit, but now I'm going to erase your memory."

"What?"

Ruka put his hands on the side of her head and put his thumbs over her eyes; his eyes started to glow blue then Mora fell forward unconscious.

"Wow, he actually did it," Thomas said in shock.

"If she doesn't remember me, then she won't go crazy for love or whatever he said. The lake didn't consider my memory-erasing power, so we're good now," Ruka said as he gently placed Mora on the floor.

"What do you wanna do with her?" Thomas asked.

"Take her to my cave and make it look like she was staying there alone; leave no trace of a dragon," he instructed.

"Yes, your highness."

Thomas took Mora to Ruka's cave and tossed away anything that showed signs of Ruka being there, but while he was, Mora woke up.

"Wh-who are you!?" She asked nervously.

"I uh well, I found you passed out in the forest and brought you here," he told her.

"I was in the forest?" She said as she stood up.

"Well, I'll be off," Thomas said as he started leaving.

"Wait!" She said, stopping him.

"You found me unconscious do you know what happened to me or where I came from?" She asked.

"Damn it, Ruka, you erased everything," He said to himself.

"Before you passed out, we ran into each other while you were traveling, and I was on patrol; you got overheated and passed out, so I brought you here."

"Well, thank you for helping me, sir," she said with a smile.

"Mhm, your welcome. I'm leaving gotta get back to the castle," he said.

"castle?"

"I'm the head guard for the king hence me being on uh patrol yup patrol."

"Will I see you again?" She asked.

"No clue," he answered, not realizing what was happening.

"Bye."

Thomas left, leaving Mora fiddling with her thumbs.

A few days passed after leaving Mora in the cave. Ruka was supervising Thomas and his guard's train, then a castle worker walked up behind him, "Your highness," she said gently not to startle him.

"Yes"

"There's a woman here asking for Sir Thomas."

"Thank you."

Ruka singled Thomas to follow him, and they went to the front gate where they had the visitor waiting.

When they walked outside, they saw Mora holding a basket.

"You told you you left her in the cave," Thomas said.

"I did," he said in annoyance.

They walked over to Mora, and she bowed to the king and smiled at Thomas.

"I brought you some pasties I made," Mora said, giving him the basket.

"I left you in a cave. How did you make these?" He asked as he took the basket.

"I wandered around and found a part of the kingdom and moved into a small house. I didn't want to live in a cave," she said with a smile.

"Thank you. I'm going back to train to rookies," He said as he turned around and left.

"You brought my head guard homemade pastries," Ruka said as he sighed.

"You can eat some as well," she said nervously.

"You like him, don't you?" He realized.

"Is it that obvious?"

"not to him; he's an idiot."

"Thank you, your highness, for letting me meet with him," she said as she left.

Ruka watched her leave when the spirit spoke into his head, "you're jealous."

"I am not jealous. I'm happy she found someone else," he said.

"You're not suspicious of how fast, though?" The spirit asked.

"I don't care," Ruka answered.

"you two were seen together, and it will happen."

"If she switches from Thomas to me, I'll just erase her memory again."

"After waking up from you taking them, she'll see another man and instantly fall in love with him."

"That's good she can be with them," Ruka said as he started walking back inside.

"No matter how many men she falls for, even if some of those men are on the other side of the world, you two will somehow meet and fall for one another."

"That's fine; I can play this game until I die."

Mora visited Thomas every day at the castle, but after three months, Mora moved from Thomas to Ruka, so he erased her memories.

Mora woke up from the erase and woke up in a field alone. She got up and followed a path and found herself in a village.

"Hello, are you from around here? I'm Alan."

Weeks passed after Mora met Alan; the two had fallen for each other. Alan was given a task to be sent to the city to buy some ingredients; Mora had gone with Alan, and while walking around, she accidentally bumped into the king.

"Fuck."

Ruka took her into an ally way and erased her memories and had her taken further away, but she came back with a different man, so he did it again, but they kept coming back to one another as the spirit said.

At a party

"Oh, hello, your highness."

"Damn it."

Visiting another royal family

"Hello, King Ruka."

"You're a princess this time!?"

Arresting thief's

"A THIEF!?"

Again and again and again, over and over and over, Ruka used his powers to erase her memories millions of times. Ruka was pacing back and forth in his bedroom, hitting his head with his palm. Everything that was happing was making him go insane.

"Three years I've been doing this for three years! I'M 25! THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I WAS 22!" He shouted.

"You two are meant to be together; the only way to stop it is to accept it."

"No, I refuse to let it."

"Why can't you accept it, Ruka?"

"The future can be changed, and I'll change it."

"Why Ruka?"

"BECAUSE!"

"BECAUSE WHY?!"

"BECAUSE I LOVE HER TOO!"

Ruka sat on his couch and slumped over, rubbing his face.

"If you love her, why are you pushing her away?" The spirit asked.

"Because I'm scared, that's why are you happy now?" He answered.

"Thomas is the only person who knows about me, and he's not afraid, which is shocking already, but meeting and falling in love with someone who thinks my dragon is something amazing is something I never thought would happen when you told me about what the lake saw it made me jump to conclusions about her betraying me and getting me killed, but she showed nothing of doing that, and I just didn't know what to do about it, so I tried just getting rid of it, so I didn't worry about it, but she came back over and over again with a different guy EVERY TIME I hated it, so I got rid of the guy each time."

Ruka sat on his couch thinking about the last three years, but he was so exhausted from it all that he fell asleep right there.

The following day he sat on his throne, rubbing the nose bridge. His kingdom planned a party for an upcoming magical eclipse that appears over Ruka's palace every three dozen years. The other royal families close by were going to attend also to watch the eclipse. While Ruka was on his throne, his people came in one by one to approve different types of food for the party.

After forty-five families showed him food, he watched as another family entered but with Mora.

"What is she doing here?" he asked Thomas.

"This time around, she's engaged to their son," he answered.

"She's engaged now?"

The family presented a beautiful cake decorated to look like an eclipse.

"This is my specialty making big extravagant cakes for events, and we would be honored if you'd allow us to be the head of catering the party."

"If you say yes, you'll get close to Mora," The spirit said in Ruka's head.

"You won't hurt the family by taking her to be yours; once she falls for you, their memories will be wiped; they will have never have met her."

"How do you know that?"

"haven't you noticed that all the men she was with before haven't recognized her?"

"The eclipse will be a perfect time to get close to her," the spirit added.

Ruka knew the spirit was right but was nervous.

"Your family will be the caterers," Ruak said.

They cheered and ran out so they could immediately start.
