Brown Eyes

I entered a convenience store and bought a siopao and milk. Yes, I'm still obsessed with milk. Why?! It can strengthen the bones so it is also allowed for us adults!

I was about to enter my car while sipping on my favorite milk when I saw a child from a distance. He's with some children but they're snatching his bag. They're a bit older than him. I chuckled when the boy raised his voice to maybe scare the people who grabbed his bag but they just laughed at him. I approached them so I grabbed their attention.

I knelt so I could line up with the kids who're taking someone else's bag.

"What's going on here?"

They immediately ran but I grabbed the hand of one of the kids to stop him from leaving. He tried to remove his hand so I tightened my grip on it. The child began to cry. "D-don't take me to the guard. They'll beat me." He cried, even more, when I still did not let go of his hand.

I was surprised there. Is this what children on the street experience? I then remembered Nathan's story to me about why he cried when we first met.

~Flashback~

"Why was I crying when we first met?" He slightly pouted his lips and looked up as he reminisces. "I was robbed by street children. I needed that money for my grandma's medicine."

He leaned his head against the wall while still looking above. I wanted to hug him suddenly when I heard that but I restrained myself and let him finish the story.

"Then someone reported to the guards that there were children on the street who were robbing someone else's belongings again. When the guards arrived, they ran away with the money I got from the bottle trade." He chuckled. "What's worst is that the guards thought I was one of the children stealing other's belongings. They will also lock me up so I bit the hand of the one holding me and ran. I have to escape because if they lock me up for a few days then Grandma won't be able to buy her medicines. I stumbled a few more times before I escaped them. I hide and rest beside a tree in the park."

So that explains why his clothes looked like they were rags back then. I want to ask him where his parents are and why they did not provide for his grandmother's needs but it looks like he is not ready to tell that story yet because he never talks about them and I never ask.

"I was scared at that time because it is said that you can hear a ghost crying every night in that place."

I looked at him in shock. Is that place haunted? I don't even know. That's the reason why no one else is going there? Suddenly, I was terrified because I went there a few times ago to just remember the first time I met Nathan.

"And I thought you're a ghost so I shouted and frightened you to make you go away. But the moment you laughed at me that's when I realized that you are not a ghost because a ghost can't have an angelic laugh. They're supposed to be creepy. "

My cheeks automatically flushed. Damn this guy! I should be annoyed with him because he has mistaken me for a ghost and this story should be about him not me!

"Then you told me to marry you because I impregnate you just by drinking at the bottle of the milk that you've already drink."

My cheeks immediately warmed up. Why did my classmates even tell me that! I closed my eyes tightly to remove the discomfort I was feeling. He was also not looking so he could not notice but I suddenly opened my eyes because I am annoyed with what he said next.

.

"I was so scared because..you'll be added to my expenses!"

I glared at him as he laughed out loud.

"But if you really want to ..." He shrugged. He looked at me then wink. "I'm very ready now. I know you wanted my breed from the beginning."

I hit him with a pillow while he was still laughing out loud.

He slowly stopped laughing and smiled then looked up again. Her brown eyes then shone, which were further enhanced by her long eyelashes. I want that breed. I mentally slap my face. What am I thinking?! He will definitely tease me once he hears my thoughts.

"But that day when you cried, I imprinted in my brain that I would never make you cry. I prefer to hear your beautiful laughter."

"You, how did you get there? I expected you to be in a more expensive place," He curiously asked.

I smiled as I shrug then started to tell him the reason why.

~ End of Flashback ~

I can see how different our world is but still, nothing has changed when it comes to how I feel for him.

I smiled at the child and handed him the siopao I was carrying. I would have given the milk too if I hadn't just seen the child being robbed of staring at it.

"Do you know that it is bad to take things that are not yours. Especially when the thing you are trying to get is important to the person you are stealing at. So before you take action, think first if someone will be hurt, look at what you will step at so that in the end we will not regret our actions.

He bit his lip looking away. Looks like conscience is eating him. "Hey," he called the boy they were stealing at which makes me smile. I have never been angry with children who do bad things because I know behind the wrongs they do is good intentions. "I'm very sorry. My mother just needs medical money for my baby sister. My aunt will get her in case she is not treated. Even though Mom knows that her life will be prolonged if that happens, she also knows that my aunt will slave her when she grew up, just like what she did to my bigger sister, her life would just be hell and Mom could not afford to be separated from her daughter again. I'm really sorry "

I stared at the child who is obviously sad. I feel sorry for him because at a young age this is what he thinks instead of playing. I also feel sorry for his Mother. What kind of pain will she feel if she loses her own child?

"Kid, what is your name?" I asked while smiling.

"Brent po ... Brent Santos"

"Can I help you with your problem? I will send my staff member who will take care of you and your family. Can you tell me where you live so they can talk to your mother?"

The boy's eyes widened and he hugged me tightly. He gave me his address which I immediately sent to my acquaintance. He left with a smile on his face and I turned to the boy who was being robbed of earlier. I saw him walking a few meters away from me. It was late at night so I chased after him. I do not want him to be hurt again. His family will definitely be sad.

"Why did you leave immediately? Come on, I'll take you to your home."

He pouted. "You are just there for the child who has ABUSED ME."

I laughed because he emphasized the last two words.

"I'm done helping him. So I'm here because it looks like a child wants to run away from where he lives. Your mother will be angry with that."

He frowned even more and shed tears. "That's why I ran away because I don't have a Mom. I was looking for a Mom and I saw you. You look kind so I want you to be my Mom but it looks like you prefer that child who ABUSED ME."

I laughed even harder when he emphasized the last two words again. Someone is jealous hmm.

"Why don't you ask your father where your mother is?" I stared at him and saw that his clothes were torn, probably made by the children earlier.

"They also don't know because they are not my blood relatives. Someone just left me outside their door. But I do not have to look for a father because there are many of them there. All I want is to feel how to be cared for and loved by a mom. "

I hand him the milk he had been staring at earlier. He looked at me confused.

"A Mother does not let her child go hungry."

"Won't you get pregnant if I drink that ?." I laughed even harder. This child never fails to make me happy.

The beam of the oncoming vehicle showed his eye making me able to see the true color of it. Brown eyes ... Those deep and tantalizing brown eyes reminded me of someone.

I was surprised when someone suddenly hugged him from the approaching tricycle earlier. It's light touched his eyes and I was surprised to recognize whose eyes it was. Owned by the person who captured the whole of me.
