I opened the door to a small classroom, filled with every creature imaginable. It seemed my presence had gone through the entire class and now they all stared at me.
Some of the guys made a chuckle at my current state.
"Ahem.", the teacher coughed out, grabbing the class's attention with a glare before turning to me and putting on a smile.
" You must be the new student they had recently told me about. I'm Mrs. Robin. Please, introduce yourself to the class.", she spoke with confidence, motioning to the front board.
I shuffled to the board, embarrassed as the eyes of the other animals followed me.
I stood before them at the front board, eyes piercing me like daggers.
It felt as if it was years from when I had spoken to another animal.
"A-Ah, yes.
My name is Isadora Rose.
Species, Albino Panther", I said quickly, finishing the introduction quickly.
The whole class grew quiet at the mention of an albino.
I could hear whispering in the back by the same guys as before.
The teacher seemed to be at a loss for words but quickly collected herself.
" Ahe- yes um, Isadora, please sit next to Maddie."
I shuffled to who seemed to be 'Maddie'. She seemed to be a brown bear, as her face and body were plump. Though she seemed a bit small for a brown bear, it didn't need too much thought. I sat down in a small plastic chair connected to a desk and looked down in silence.
The teacher soon after started the class when she got the class to settle down after the 'albino incident'.
The girl named Maddie tried to start a conversation with me.
"So where you from?", she asked, an accent dripped every word.
" U-Um.. the forest?", I said replied, unsure what to say.
"Ooh! Which forest?! Redwood? Lingerton? Oh! Spruce Forest! "
"None?", I whispered, lowering my head.
" Wait- then how'd you get in? The Forest Council specially choose 3,000 high school animals to join, most from rich or important families, others from being the top of their school. My family was one of the top funders so that's how I got in.", she almost fell out of chair by leaning on the backboard.
"The school saw my situation, and I guess they invited me to join?", I said quickly, unsure what to say.
The lesson went well, I met some of my peers and had a few good conversations with Maddie.
Then, a loud ring rang in my ears.
I jumped up, terrified of the meaning of it. Fight? Feral! Danger?!
It had been a while since I went to public school, I was homeschooled with my mother.
" Slow your roll, Princess. That is the 'school bell'. Meaning it's time to go to the next class. And, 'he checked his watch', it's lunchtime for us. ", a male spoke to me, teasing at my actions.
By watching the actions of my classmates, I gathered my bag and headed into the hallway to the cafeteria.
