Chapter 2

Eden rode Eon harder, much harder than was necessary, she didn't understand why Poppy's words angered her when it was the truth after all. Passing buildings went by in a blur of lights and colors, the Outhouse was located very close to the western side of the Village which had the highest bee population.

It used to be called Sunset Gardens but it gradually it adapted the name 'Hunting Grounds' it was more convinient

Without realizing it, she had already reached the hunting grounds and had to wait for Poppy to catch up.

There were lots of greenery around her, the forest in the West Village usually looked like this. The lowest level, which was the ground level were usually covered with flowers of all kinds and colors, this was where the butterflies came do to carry nectar in their mouths back to the Outhouse, there were special butterflies who went to get the nectar, they never had riders.

The second layer, around the middle were filled with bigger plants, most of which had flowers too. They were probably flowers once but then they evolved and the final tier were what housed the trees.

Fairy Town was quite small, the people and the surrounding equally which was why the big Elves looked so out of place.

"My goodness!" Poppy gasped when she finally caught up, her coiffed, pale blue hair in a disarray, Eden thought she preferred it this way. "It is not a race." She pouted, her peach colored eyes accusing.

Eden cleared her throat guiltily, "I know." She scratched her head.

But Poppy was already distracted. "Oh my gods!" She squealed, practically vibrating on Apple who had to dip a little to regain her balance. "It's Wreath!" She whisper yelled.

Eden already saw the obnoxious blond heading their way before Poppy could complete her flashy introduction. "Could this day get any worse?" She muttered rhetorically to herself, under her breath.

Wreath flew quick circles around Eden whose butterfly was floating in mid air, "Hey Eden! I haven't seen you since we graduated Fairy school."

"Show off." Eden muttered under her breath again, totally ignoring Wreath's sentence, she had always been envious of the male Forest Fairies who used wasps instead for transportation.

Wasps were really fast and could fly really high then she remembered that she was supposed to answer Wreath. "I've been busy." She replied in an uninterested voice, starting to fly away on Eon.

Wreath easily caught up. "So you want to meet up sometime? Tulip's throwing a party at the Fountains this weekend, we could go together." He suggested cockily, giving Eden a cocky grin.

Eden made a face, she knew now that the only reason Wreath came after was because she was easily the prettiest girl in West Village, at least that was what everyone kept saying, Eden thought she looked pretty average.

She could barely stand Wreath on a good day, his sense of entitlement pissed her off. They had finished Fairy school a year ago and she had tried her hardest to steer clear of his path even going as far as to work at the Outhouse farthest from him.

So when she found out about the true reasons for his interest, willing to give him the benefit of doubt earlier, she was just done. "No, thank you." She said curtly, looking away.

"You're right, it would be too crowded anyway, well see you around." He said with a lot less bravado than earlier, he obviously hadn't made plans for the possibility of being shut down if the crowd of teen Fairies waiting for him in the distance was any indication.

"Aw, you didn't have to be so mean to him, you have no romantic bone in your body." Poppy scolded her friend, feeling bad that Eden had just shut down the most handsome Fairy in East Village but her black haired friend didn't think that way.

"If there's a bone in my body that's being useless by being romantic, I'm going to break it." Eden said savagely still in a sour mood, she saw an unpicked beehive in the distance and started for it.

Poppy shivered, crossing her arms. "Terrifying." She muttered to herself, trying to catch up with Eden who had taken off again, that butterfly of hers was unnaturally fast.

"Wait!" Poppy called out when she reached the front of the beehive that Eden was already at, they were supposed to collect honey from it. "You forgot your honey carriers again." She rolled her peach colored eyes, trying to fly from where she was perched to give Eden the thick strings of vine that had wooden containers attached to them but she didn't get far.

"Um Eden? A little help." She called out.

Eden was checking the straps of her holster, she had made it from an old wooden belt buckle and vine belts.

"I tell you to train but you refuse." The black haired girl tsked to her struggling friend.

"I'm not going to waste my precious free time swinging an old branch around." Poppy fired back, they both decided to pitch in to help move the Honey Carrier from Apple to Eon.

"I could have easily carried it by myself, there was no need for you to join in. Eden grumbled, pushing stay locks of hair that escaped her braid out of her eyes with large amounts of viciousness.

Poppy watched her best friend aggressively strap the Honey Carrier down and rubbed her face in exasperation. "And then you would have fallen all the way down to the ground while holding pounds of vines and wood."

"I'm not that weak." Eden bit out.

"There's nothing wrong with being weak!" Poppy exploded, throwing her hands up.

Eden's face tightened at her words and she started to fly up into the beehive, her loose top waving in the wind. "You're wrong." She mumbled, looking at Poppy straight in the eye.

"There's everything wrong with being weak." She added coldly, tiring around and flying into the hive without a backwards glance.
