Chapter 6

"Come on Lily." Daisy pulled harder, his much smaller body straining hard to move his friend. "We need to practice, the first mission is starting in less than a week."

"No, I don't want to." Lily mumbled, burying his head deeper into his pillow.

Daisy let go when he found out that he couldn't move Lily, his long, white hair flowing around as he flew from side to side over Lily's bed. "Are you giving up? Is that the sound of defeat I hear?" The tiny fairy pouted, full lips pink.

Lily shifted the pillow a bit to look at his annoying friend. "Okay, listen to this." He says, sitting up, he wore nothing but loose shorts, leaving his tanned and muscled upper body out. "I'm supposed to be the strongest Hero Light Fairy born in almost forever but I can't seem to successfully light a simple candle, tell me how that isn't a recipe for defeat."

"So you're just going to give up?"

"Yes, I'm going to do just that." He replied, throwing his pillow over his purple hair again.

Daisy sighed, settling in the bed beside him, he knew he had to wait a while before bringing it up again or Lily would tie him up and leave him in his closet, wouldn't be the first time. "Why do you cut your hair so short?" He asked softly, reaching under the pillow to push a hand through the short purple strands.

"I hate the color." Came out the reply.

"Lily?"

"Don't call me that." He sat up quickly with a growl, making Daisy retract his hand with a whimper. "I'm sorry." He rubbed a hand down his face. "I'm a little edgy today."

Tears filled Daisy's big, deep pink eyes but he nodded. "It's f-fine, you have every right to be but you should give yourself a break, you just manifested your abilities a year ago, I've had mine ever since I was four." He sniffed.

North Village didn't do things like the West so Lily had always know he was a Hero but that just made it all the more worse when he couldn't manifest his power, sometimes it so happened that a village got more than one Hero but the Heroes would be dependent on each other, Daisy could put out fires and manipulate it to his will but he couldn't create. Lily could but it wasn't working out very well for him.

"I know but if you have to put out another fire I'll shave my head bald." He grumbled, already crumbling to his sweet friend's request.

"No, no, please no." Daisy begged quickly. "Anything but that Li."

Lily gave him a look but smiled a little. "Fine, I won't." He agreed, grabbing a couple locks of Daisy's long, white hair. "But you have to reduce yours or it'll catch one fire one of these days."

Daisy pouted. "We're fireproof."

Lily shrugged. "Maybe I just want you to cut your hair short." He tapped his nose. "You'd look cuter with shorter hair."

Daisy's beautiful face went red and he hid it behind his small hands. "You aren't allowed to say things like that." He mumbled, already knowing that he was going to cut his wavy hair for Lily.

"Come on, I'll get cleaned up and we'll go practice okay?" Lily said nicely, pulling Daisy's hands away from his face. "And you can call me Lily."

Daisy averted his still red face, his wings fluttering behind him. "But I don't mind calling you Li."

He patted the white locks. "Call me whatever you want." He grinned, jumping up.

Which was rare because Lily rarely smiled, everyone saw him as the grumpy Hero who never spoke to people but Daisy knew better that he was a real softie on the inside. "I'll do that." He smiled up at his friend, he was still sitting crossed legged on the bed when a floating Lily started to unbuckle his shorts in front of him.

"W-Wait!" Daisy said quickly in a high voice. "W-What do you think you're doing?" He asked with a scandalized expression in his face, nearly falling off the bed.

Lily looked at him blankly but thankfully he stopped trying to get fully naked. "Huh? I need to get my clothes off to bathe." He stated blandly, like it was the most obvious thing to be done.

Daisy looked like he was having an aneurysm. "D-Do-Don't do i-it in f-front of m-me?" He exclaimed, looking very traumatized like he might pass out.

Lily just gave him a done look, "We've been together since we were babies, we bathed together as children." He didn't mention that even then Daisy was really shy.  "I've set my clothes on fire a couple times, don't you think you're overreacting?"

But Daisy was already hyperventilating, his fluttering wings spraying Fairy dust everywhere. "N-No I-I am n-not overreacting." He gasped, clutching the gauzy shirt he had on in an attempt to stabilize his breathing.

"Oy! You're sprinkling dust everywhere." He reached for Daisy, his shorts going low on his hips due to the loose buckle.

Daisy stumbled backwards, mortified, he fell off the bed and landed with an 'ow!'

"Fine, crazy person." Lily grinned, flying over to the bathroom. "See you in a bit." He called out, going to the bathroom.

"You could have done that a long time ago." Daisy panted out, still trying to get his erratic breathing under control.

"Where's the fun in that." Lily smirked, closing the door.

"Wretched soul." Daisy mumbled under his breath, picking himself from the ground. He cleaned up the dust and made the bed, settling down on it to wait for Lily.

The door knob started to twist and Daisy had a moment of internal panic. "You better not be coming out of that bathroom naked!" He exclaimed as the door slowly opened, he'd gotten used to seeing the annoying soul half naked but anything more was just pushing it.

Lily came out and leaned against the door, he was still dripping wet and there was a small towel wrapped low on his hip, a hand was in his short hair. "Why would I want to do that?"

Daisy stared open mouthed, this was way worse than him coming out naked. He groaned and fell face down on the bed, "Just dress up, we don't have all day."

Lily chuckled but obeyed, dressing quickly in knee length shorts and a loose shirt which Daisy knew would come off before the end of the day, he had never seen someone who hated wearing clothes so much.

Daisy carried the box of lunch his mom had packed for them both, Lily's father was the Head of North Village and his mom was equally as important, she didn't have the time to make lunch for her son, they were rarely even home so Daisy tried his best to fill up that space.

They made their way to the outskirts of the village, even though there was a training center in the middle of the Village for Heroes to train and people would come to watch but Lily was banned from how many times he'd set the place on fire, people weren't left out of it too.

Lilly didn't mind, he hadn't liked the way people came to watch him fail over and over again plus he didn't like people, period. Except Daisy, he thought as he looked sideways at his friend who had absently slipped his hand in Lily's own and was estatically pulling him along, yes, he liked Daisy.

When they got to the outskirts, they went to the tiny strip of forest, it gave them good cover and was better than training in the grassy parts where everyone could see them.

North Village was the power centre of Flora City, they powered the entire city so that it was lighted at every time of the day and night as well and were very good in crafting metal they found into jewelries.

Fairy metal was not sturdy and therefore unfit for making weapons, not to mention that they refused to get violent so weapons were a useless commodity to make.

Immediately they settled down and got ready to start training, Lily took his thin shirt off and Daisy sighed hopelessly, there was no changing the exhibitionist.

"You were supposed to aim at me!" Daisy yelled with high doses of frustration, after a long while of intense training. "How did you even hit the tree Li? It wasn't even in your line of sight."

Lily yanked his hair viciously. "I don't know, I was aiming for you but then it just curved, I don't know how." He explained, equally frustrated too, the tree was starting to burn a little ways beside them.

"Um am I interrupting something?" A Fairy flew over, from his uniform, a gold tunic over black slacks, it was obvious that he was a messenger of the Head of North Village.

Daisy smiled, trying to attract the messenger's attention to himself before Lily lost it and threw a fireball at the guy. "Not at all." He flew over after putting out the fire. "Is there a message?"

"Yes?" The Fairy gulped, staring uncomfortably at Lily who was glaring daggers at him like he'd like to hurt him. "Um, h-here's the letter." Another gulp. "I-I'll be on m-my way now." The Fairy stuttered, quickly flying away after handing over the letter, Daisy didn't miss the sparkle of Fairy dust that floated down.

He flew over and smacked Lily on the head with the rolled up letter.

"Ow! Why did you hit me?"

"I've told you to stop glaring at people." Another hit. "I mean it's bad enough that you're the Head's son and also a Hero but do you have to act so scary too?" He asked, constantly hitting Lily over the head with the embossed letter.

Lily easily captured the tiny wrist inflicting non-existent pain on him and quirked his lips. "How does hitting me solve anything?"

Daisy glared at him, more than flustered at the close proximity. "Ugh! I give up on you." He groaned, walking off. "Come on, let's sit so I can read what the letter says."

They settled on a fallen log and Daisy unrolled the thick letter.

Lily immediately reached for the box, already hungry. Mrs Dane made the best strawberry cupcakes in the entire universe, Lily was sure of that.

"So what does it say?" He mumbled around a mouth full of cake.

"That we're to be in the West Village in two days time, our first mission is going to begin from there." Daisy summarized.

Lily frowned. "Our mission doesn't begin for a week, why do we have to go so early?" He asked, offering Daisy a bite of the cake in his hand.

"So that we can get acquainted with the other Heroes." Daisy replied, taking a bite of cake. "I can't wait!" He grinned.

Lily just hummed, wiping off some frosting that stuck to Daisy's upper lip, he could definitely wait.
