A Dream

Early morning. In a room, filled with figurines and posters of a yellow-haired buffed man.

It was Japan's No.1 Pro Hero and was also regarded as the 'Symbol of Peace. Many kids idolized him and aspired to be the same as him. Even adults were fans of him.

Whoever resided in this room is sure to be a big fan of the No.1 Hero.

In one corner of the room, near the window, was a bed. There laid the green-haired boy, eyes closed. He was in his dreamscape. But looking at the pained expression on his face, he didn't seem to be having a nice dream rather he seems to have a nightmare.

"Izuku… Izuku!!!" -a womanly voice sounded outside the room.

The voice helped the boy waking from the nightmare. With a start, he opened his eyes and sat up, taking short breathes.

*Pant**Pant*

He was sweating all over and his lungs longed for the air to fill it in. The room was filled with the short gasping sounds from the boy which gradually became normal over time.

*Inhale**Exhale*

With that last breathe, he relaxed. 'Just a dream.'-he sighed in relief.

He had dreamed that he had no quirk and he still pursued his dream to be a hero. But along the way, he had to face many discouragements. He was bullied and scorned by his fellow classmates.

Even so, he didn't give up. Even his mother didn't believe him, who would? , a quirk-less boy aspiring to be a hero? But this didn't discourage him. He carried on and by a wisp of luck, he met his idol 'All Might' which seems to have exhausted his luck meter all way to zero.

He asked if he could also be a hero just like him, hoping for something but was depressed as he got the answer in denial. Everyone said it but he was a fool to not listen to others. Now even the No.1 had said that it was not possible. He cursed himself inside his head.

Suddenly, he was standing on the edge of a tall building with lifeless eyes. He was drenched from top to bottom due to the rain.

*Drizzle**Drizzle*

He had this dangerous thought inside his mind. Just a small leap and it will all end. He was not a weak-willed person since he could persist till now but he had enough of it. This pathetic life.

'Izuku'-a motherly voice sounded in his head suddenly and clarity returned to his eyes. He recalled his chubby mother's sad face tears at the corner of her eyes. She had gained weight due to all the worries and depression since she blamed herself it was her fault that Izuku was quirk less and couldn't fulfill his dream. She worried about him all the time.

Remembering his mother, he couldn't bring himself to take the last and only leap. He looked down with frustration, tears running down his cheeks to chin. After a long silent cry, he relaxed. He shook his head and cleaned his face with the wet sleeves which didn't do the job.

Now only did he realize that it was raining. After clearing his mind, he turned back to return home. He took a step.

*Squeak*

His shoes slipped on the water puddle and he was pushed backward. He stretched his arm but there was no fence to hold on to. He flailed his arm but it didn't help in stopping his descend. Inevitably, he fell…

"Izuku!!!"

That was the end of the dream. The reason he woke from his dream, the fall, or his mother's call, he didn't know. But he sure was relieved to wake up from that nightmare.

"Izuku!!!"-an angry voice came this time. Izuku quickly stood up with a jolt and shouted-"I'm awake!"

He stood like that for a while. After assuring that the storm had calmed down he sighed. He dawdled to the washroom to freshen up.

-------

Finishing his morning routine, Izuku dressed up in his school uniform and walked which gradually turned into a sprint. He sprinted to the dining room and immediately hit the brake resulting in a slide. He bent one of his knees and made a dab pose. He slid unnaturally in that pose and stopped right behind his mother who has just finished serving two portions of breakfast.

"I AM HERE!!!"-still in the dab pose he shouted which earned a tick mark to form on his mother's face. "…to have breakfast with my lovely mother." To not anger her further he finished his intro speech still managing to squeeze some flattery.

Izuku was a 14 years old boy standing 5'5'' tall. He had fluffy green hair and green eyes which he inherited from his mother. He also had symmetric freckles on his cheeks. Altogether he had an innocent and energetic appearance. He wore a plain black gakuran uniform with yellow buttons ready for his school.

While his mother, Midoriya Inko was a slim woman standing 5'3" tall with green hair tied in a ponytail.

The Midoriya duo sat down for breakfast. While having breakfast, Izuku was glanced at his mother and nodded to himself. He much preferred his mother this way. Happy, irritated, sometimes angry, etc. while in his dream, his mother always had a sad and depressing look. Though her chubby look was rather cute. What if she was both chubby and not gloomy at the same time? That would be wholesome.

While Izuku was fantasizing about his chubby mother berating him in his mind, Inko noticed her son glancing at her and nodding to himself so she was curious. "What happen Izuku? Why are you nodding to yourself?"

Still in his daydream Izuku, smiling to himself, blurted, "Chubby Mom… Hehehe…"

Hearing this Inko was flabbergasted. Did she gain weight? It can't be, she has been eating healthy diets along with morning yoga. Then what was Izuku saying?

"Hey, Izuku! Do I really look chubby (fat)?" -a panicked Inko asked Izuku who was brought out of his reverie. He answered, "No..." without missing a beat.

Inko was relieved to hear that.

"…but you should gain weight. That would be good."

The relief immediately changed to fury and stood up to catch her son's ear. But Izuku's Spidey sense reacted much faster and immediately pulled away from the boss area. He bolted out of his house picking his bag and shoes.

His mother could still be growling, "WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT GAINING WEIGHT, HUH? ARE YOU CURSING YOUR OWN MOTHER? WAIT TILL YOu come back… "
