Chapter 8

Next day

Jennifer's POV

"Ms. Winget?" I heard someone knocking.

"Please come in." I said and Emerson entered. I haven't gone to him today. I usually go to him first when I come here but I didn't felt like going.

"You didn't say goodbye when you left yesterday." he said.

"I am sorry Sir. I forgot." I said and smiled.

"You are behaving different." he said while sitting on the chair.

"I don't think so Sir . I'm usual." I said and he shook his head.

"I'm not just your boss Jennifer. I'm your friend too. Please clarify if there are any doubts." he said.

Doubts? They are billions. I don't like that Nia girl and you are with her. She is in your arms for most of the time and I don't like it. Can i tell you this?

"There's nothing sir. Actually I was so caught up in work that I forgot. Everything's fine." I smiled at him and he nodded.

"If that's what you think.. please carry on with your work." he said fixing his suit and left.

I breathed out. Get back to your senses Jennifer. He is your boss and you. You are just an employee. He might treat you as a friend but you have no right to even think about his personal life. Forget and concentrate on your work.

Emerson's POV

"Aww.. is my son falling for someone?"

"Shut up Sam. I haven't called you for this shit. I just wanted to understand that .. is she really having feelings for me?" I said

"So.. after you told me about the way she looked at both of you when you had Nia in your arms... I think she might be having feelings for you.. but you have to be sure that these are friend like feelings or something else." he said.. Moreover adviced.

"But how?" I asked.

"Let them sit together.. you'll know if your Jenny is jealous of Nia." he said laughing and I smiled.

He's right. Let's keep my babies together. I smirked.

I called Nia

"Hey Nia .. wanna accompany me for lunch?"

"Ofcourse.  Is it only for us?" she asked

"I might bring some friend. Get ready and meet me here. " I said.

"Okay.." she cut the call and I smiled.

After finishing my work.. I went to Jennifer cabin. I saw her from the glass door. Her eyes glued on the desktop screen. She was typing something. Her eyes... And I went to my Dreamland just thinking about her eyes.

Focus Emerson. Please.

I knocked the door and went in.

"You need something sir?" she asked.

"Yeah.. I want to review the files of the  HR department." I said.

"Please have a seat. I'll get it now." she said and left her cabin.

She came in a few minutes and handed me the files. We were discussing the profit and loss. After about half an hour we heard a knock.

"Come in" I said

Nia entered the cabin. I saw the expressions on Jennifer's face and they were not good.

"I have been looking for you and you are here. Did you forgot about our lunch.?" she asked

"Oh. I am sorry I really forgot them. Just wait for a minute." I said getting up.

"Ms. Winget .. it's already lunch time. Why don't you accompany us?" I asked her and she gave a shocked expression.

"It's fine sir.. I'll stay here. You both please continue with your plans. " she said and smiled.

"Please Ms. Winget .. your boss insists."

I knew hearing the boss word will make her agree because she really respects me as her boss.

"I don't want to ruin your plans sir." she was hesitant.

Oh you don't know .. you are the main person of my plans.

"No you won't. Let's go." she nodded and we left.

I chose to drive myself. I opened the car door for both of them. Nia sat besides me and Jennifer was on the back seat. I drove them to one of our restaurants. The drive was silent.. for me and Jennifer. Nia kept talking to me and I just nodded or smiled or said yes or no.

When we reached the place.. I quickly got out from the driver's seat and like a perfect gentleman helped both the ladies to come out.

The manager himself escorted us to our table. And pulled the chairs for us.

The Waiter came within seconds and asked our orders. Nia and Jennifer ordered their drinks first.

"What about you sir?" he asked looking at me.

"I'll have-"

"He will have black coffee with no sugar. " Jennifer said and I smiled looking at her. She really knew me well. The Waiter left.

"Emy.. since when you started having black coffee.. you used to hate it?" Nia asked.

"Since... I got a new PA.. " I said looking at Jennifer. She was smiling.

"She has made it my habit now.. she takes care of me in the office."

I said still looking at Jennifer.

"But don't forget I have been taking care of you since you were born." Nia said laughing.

Jennifer didn't liked this joke I guess. Her facial expressions showed that.

"Yes Mom.. thanks for that" I said and both of them laughed.

We had our drinks and then ordered our meals.

"You know what Jennifer.. when we were in high school.. every girl was jealous of me." Nia said

"Ofcourse. You are beautiful." she said.

"No.. not about that.. actually Emerson has always been loved by many girls.. and he only talked to me. That's why many of the girls got jealous of me.. they even thought I'm his girlfriend. " she laughed

"Yea of course.. you both are too close." Jennifer said

And I was just enjoying these women. They weren't talking.. they were fighting as if the winner will get me.

"Yes we are. He's the only man after my family whom I'm close to and I .. am the only female in his life." she said this to Jennifer stressing on only. As if asking her to back off.. we were having our food.

"But isn't it strange sir.. " Jennifer said looking at me

"What?" I asked

"We have been together since months . I mean I am your PA from a longer time but you never know told me about the only female in your life.?" she said and the smile on Nia's face disappeared.

This is getting serious now..

"I might have forgotten.. we had so much work so.. " I tried to reason but I think Nia wasn't satisfied with my answer.

"I am finished. Shall we go?" Nia said getting up from her seat.

I looked at Jennifer and she nodded.

"Let me just pay the bills." I said getting up..

I went to pay the bills. I called Sam.

"Hey bro.. how did it went ?" he asked.

" Miserable.. they were literally fighting." I said

"So what did you infer from this lil meeting?" he asked.

"I am seventy percent sure that She is having feelings for me.. I just need the last step to be hundred percent sure. But.."

"But what?" he asked.

"The way Nia was talking.. I'm afraid she too might feel something for me." I said.

"Shit.. now?" he asked.

"I don't know.. I really don't know.. Nia has always been special for me but.. as a friend only .. I'm stuck Sam.. "

"You don't worry.. meet me and we'll think about something. Bye for now." he said and cut the call.

I sighed.

Jennifer's POV

Really? I didn't expected her to be this low. I mean seriously? She was trying to make me jealous about how close they were. My last reply was befitting I guess coz the expressions on her face were worth watching. When Emerson excused himself to pay the bills she came towards me.

"Ms. Winget.. so you seem to know a few things about My Emerson." she folded her arms with an evil smile on her face.

"Actually I stay with him for almost all day so... " I too folded my arms and smiled.

"Good.." she said. "This is how a Personal assistant should work.. you are doing your job wonderfully. But you know what.. A personal assistant is personal only till she's in the office . They have no right on their boss's personal life. " she said and I smiled back.

"I had the same notion before.. but.. do you really think a boss will ask his PA to accompany him for lunch? I haven't seen this kind of boss before."

She laughed.

"Yeah.. Emy is different. You know him so well then you might even know there were many girls in his life.. but the only one whom he kept.. was me. Whenever there will be time to make a choice.. he will chose me over anyone." she smiled and I smiled back. I was about to say something when Emerson arrived.

"Ready to go?" he asked and we both nodded. Nia ran towards him and kept her arm around his. He looked lil hesitant.. that was the first time I saw him like that. We left the place and he started driving to our destination.

"I'll drop you to your home Nia.. I and Jennifer have to go back for work." Emerson said.

"Can I come?" asked Nia.

"It's work Nia.. please understand."

"Okay" she said and Emerson dropped her to her house few minutes later.

She hugged him and kissed his cheek and he just smiled.

She gave me a look and I smiled back at her.  Emerson then got back to the driver's seat.

"I'm not your driver Ms. Winget."

He said smiling and I laughed. He motioned me to sit beside him and I did. He then asked me to wear the seat belt and we left.

"We haven't been talking much since many days ." he started talking.

"You think so?" I asked.

"Yep.. we were more like friends before than Boss and employee

But from last few days.. it's getting different." I didn't said anything.

After a few minutes drive he turned to another lane which was at opposite direction from our company.

"Hey.. you missed the lane.." I said

"We aren't going to the company." he said.

"Then?" he looked at me and smiled. Did I told you that his smile is worth dying for? That smile melts everyone.

Though he doesn't smile much. I asked him once why he don't smile much to which he replied that he is a ruthless businessman.

He kept driving and I kept guessing where he's taking me.

We then entered the forest area.

"Hey. Will you kill me and hide my body here?" he gave me a mad look and I laughed.

He stopped the car and I got out.

He held my hand and started walking.. he looked excited.

We then entered the more dense part of the forest. After a few minutes walk he stopped.

"We are here." I looked up to the place he was pointing. I gasped.

"Oh My God.. A tree house." I shouted with a huge smile on my face.

"You liked it?" he asked.

"I love it" I said and ran towards the tree.

"Hey wait. " he ran towards me. He then showed me the stairs and carefully helped me to reach the tree house.

We then entered it. It was nice. There was a bedroom too.. not very big as the tree house wasn't very huge but it was lovely. There was a small kitchen with the bedroom and some space with a small couch for two to sit.

"Its beautiful.. I love this place.." I was jumping with joy and Emerson was laughing at me.

"When did you find this place." I asked him

"When I was a kid" he sighed and jumped on the couch. I sat beside him.

"I always loved climbing.. I tried to climb this tree and when I did. I found a broken tree house. " he got silent for a moment then smiled.

"I came here once a week.. this was and is my favourite place. When I grew up.. I repaired it and made it this way." he was smiling throughout.

"This place is very special for you." I said and he nodded.

"You and Nia used to come here and play I guess?"

He looked at me and then gave me his best smile.

He shifted towards me and whispered

"You are the only person I've ever brought here." and this made me skip my heartbeat.
