Reaps of the Dungeon

Max fell to the floor he finally fainted.

As Andrew was released from the creatures grip he fell on his bottom, taking deep breaths. He thought he was done for sure. He saw images in his head that he was getting eaten by that monster but, with just an action, Max turned the tides of the entire fight.

Gwen, flabbergasted about the outcome, felt a huge relief off her chest. She looked to where all of her teammates where. Some began crying tears of joy while others of relief. It was a mixture of emotions, others felt delighted or had dumb-founded expressions, there were some that were still afraid, thinking that something would happen while the monster fell down and who knows how it will get back on its feet and kill them.

Some became loud and were cheering, throwing a party right where they once thought that they will die. Only a few individuals weren't even remotely feeling good.

They were Max, which was currently unconscious, Andrew, whose arm has already turned to normal, and Anna which was barely conscious at this point. Her use of magic took a toll on her body as she was feeling really tired, ready to fall asleep at any time.

Gwen looked at Andrew, which was staring into nothingness with huge, traumatized eyes. She had a huge, beautiful smile which she just couldn't shake off but as she looked around she remembered that the job isn't done yet.

"Margaret!" She said, a bit exasperated that they still had something to do. Margaret looked at her before walking at a fast pace towards her. She closed in and Gwen could see her sparkling red eyes, they were filled with vigor and life.

"What do you need me to do?" Margaret said, she also had a huge beautiful smile which was full of happiness and relief, just as Gwen. If one was to look into their direction, without knowing what had happened, he or she would think that they were laughing and chatting about some interesting topic, not because Gwen requested her friend to break the skull of a shadow creature.

Margaret, after hearing her request, nodded solemnly. She took her halberd out and swung it towards the head without a corpse.

*Crack*

A crack was heard, but the halberd didn't go inside the skull. 'Ghah!' A sound filled with pain was heard right after.

"Listen here living beings, you leave and I won't kill you. You understand?!?" The head started talking after being hit, it felt like an activation button. The head tried to look imposing, his voice hoarse and filled with anger, but it all felt like a pitiful plea of help.. or one of forgiveness.

Margaret didn't mind the talking head which once was a formidable foe. She was told to destroy it and that is what she will do. She knew that the shadow creature was in no state to fight them anymore.

As Margaret swung her halberd once more the sound which it created could only be called disgusting. The eyesight wasn't any better either as what seemed like rotten brain matter and dark green blood splattered around everywhere, chunks of the shadow creature falling on the floor.

With that it was truly over.

Gwen now focused her attention on Max, which was laying on the floor without moving even an inch. She went towards him and after reaching him, she knelt down, turned him around and as he now was facing face-up, she began slowly giving him water.

She knew from the beginning that she was to do something to help Max, but after doing so she began attracting some attention. Of course, no body commented about it, they didn't feel right as Max was the one that saved them from dying also, they felt death looming around as the thought of mockery came in, so they didn't want to try their luck, at least not in this place.

She slowly massaged his hands with the Low-Tier Medicine Max carried in his bag. She didn't have any but knew that Max surely would've had more as he saw him using it before entering this Boss room.

As she carried on helping the unconscious Max, the other leaders began organizing and calming everyone down. They were elated themselves by the happy ending of the battle but they couldn't become so careless. They can group up after getting back home and throw a party if they wanted to, but as of now they were still in an official Dungeon classified establishment.

Ashley, ever since the Boss dropped dead, was looking around, not following any instructions given by the leaders. As Will saw who it was though, he granted for her telling the others it's alright to let her roam around for now, giving reasons such as she wasn't looking around carelessly and that she was the one that saved his life.

After checking the room out Ashley nodded her head, agreeing on something in her mind. She slowly walked to the center of the room where everyone was kept in check.

'Is she finally done?' Will looked at her approaching them. He had been wondering for a while what was happening with her.

Ashley got close to the stone coffin and as she reached it she tried to push away the top of it. She tried all she could but alone she wasn't able to push it, she barely even made it move.

She looked around and made a sign to Will and Margaret, and as they got closer she said:

"In a dungeon there is bound to be treasure somewhere and from what I've searched so far there wasn't any, the last place to search is inside the coffin, can you guys help me open it?" She asked, but it felt more like a demand and not a call for help.

Margaret, Will and Ashley all began pushing from one side and the coffin lid began to slowly slide away.

*Crash* The lid fell on the floor. Cracks could be seen on it as it collided with the floor. As the trio hovered over the opened coffin they began looking inside, and after a while of searching their eyes shone with excitement.

Under a thick blanket of dust and what seemed to be corroded bones was a black tower shield, engraved with a strange white pattern all around the surface. It looked both extremely heavy and sturdy, the outside of it giving an imposing aura as an immovable object.

Margaret went to grab it and after cleaning it, as there was a lot of dust on it, she began pulling it out, and as she did her face became one of shock.

"It's really light!" She said with a dumbfounded, throwing it towards Will.

"Wait!" Will couldn't speak fast enough, the shield was already heading his way in an arched angle. He caught it and his expression changed as well. He began swinging it around and trying to do some 'Shield Warrior moves'. The shield felt comfortable and really light at the same time, but now there was another worry in their minds.

"Strike it" Will put the shield in front of his body as he requested.

Margaret got a hold of her halberd and swung as hard as she could. A loud thump was heard as she and Will stalemated. Will slid backwards a little bit but as they retracted and looked at the shield, it didn't even have a scratch on it, only the dust that was around where it was hit could be seen missing.

They looked at each other, and after a few moments they began packing it up as well.

Andrew carried the fainted Max after recovering from his shock, and after giving some time to the group they began marching towards the exit.
