Spirit Weapon Clash

Felix was already charging towards Max and after he got close enough, swung his sword.

Max intercepted Felix's strike with his shield, efficiently blocking it before throwing an attack of his own back at him. Felix dodged the shield coming towards him while backing up a little. He had a smirk on his face, seemingly enjoying the fight so far.

On the other hand, Max had a serious, expressionless face. He was taking Felix one hundred percent serious, not leaving any space for clumsiness or sub estimation.

"A fight is to be enjoyed Max," Felix said looking at his expression.

"Not the ones that are important" Max, with a straight face, responded to Felix who once again closed the distance between them. Their weapons clashed time and time again while the fight was prolonging itself. Noticing this even Max became more aggressive, instead of blocking the attacks with the shield he would instead counter them instantly.

They both weren't out of breath even after tens of clashes which was to be expected as both Max and Felix were using the basic breathing technique that reinforced their bodies. Felix charged at Max once again and reached him in just a few short seconds, that was when the look in his eyes changed.

Max noticed it briefly and out of caution backed away which proved to be the right thing to do. Where Max once stood before, a slash of fire was created right after Felix swung his sword. Max looked towards Felix surprised. His sword was coated in flames that burned brightly along the sword, enveloping even half of his arm in flames, but it didn't seem to affect him.

"I'll take this fight more seriously as well then," Felix admitted as he flicked his sword towards Max. A ball of fire was shot at a fast pace towards Max who swiftly blocked it with his shield.

A booming sound was heard as Max was pushed back a few steps.

"So your element is fire?" Max said laughing bitterly. He knew that now the battle won't be fair anymore.

"I think it's obvious by now" Before forwarding toward Max, Felix responded. They once again clashed against each other but the winner of those clashes was evidently Felix. He pushed back Max by a little bit every time, it wouldn't be long until Max's body would give in.

"Even now you are still standing! Impressive!" Felix praised Max while striking at him once more. His blade pushed against his shield while Max didn't back away. He stood in place with his feet dug into the ground.

'I'm getting used to it' Max groaned inside his thoughts before replying to Felix.

"Thanks, but don't think you have won so easily" Max smirked as he tilted his shield. Because of the strength that Felix applied to the sword, it slid off the shield leaving himself open for Max.

Max took the opportunity and kneed Felix's ribs, the force ended up pushing the other a few meters away, tumbling all the way until he stopped. Felix got up from the ground while a low groan left his mouth.

"I wasn't expecting you to be the one getting the first clean hit," Felix admitted while the grip on his sword tightened.

"Please finish your battle quick," Azel's voice sounded inside both Max's and Felix's mind.

"Don't worry, it'll finish now" Felix said in an ominous tone. Red particles began surging outside of his body while the cracks on the sword absorbed them, turning themselves into bright lines of orange along the blade.

Max was alerted by what was happening so he quickly placed the shield in front of him. 'This is bad' He thought while looking towards the sword in Felix's hand.

The bright cracks that went along the sword reached their peak and Max was waiting for Felix to charge once again. But that didn't happen.

"Aren't you going to awaken your spirit weapon as well?" Felix asked in a surprised voice while looking at Max. He had a spirit weapon, albeit a blessed or cursed one, each had special capabilities that were called awakenings.

'What does he mean, Matt? Do you know anything?' Max asked inside his mind, he hasn't found any information about spirit weapons yet, he knew just what Hans told him when he 'appraised' Matt.

'I think I understand what he is talking about, there is this strange feeling inside of me ever since we formed a contract. I have been trying to find what it is but it always tried to drain magic from you which is why I stopped after a while.' Matt admitted, he knew about this feeling for quite a while but didn't know what it meant.

'So can we activate it now?' Max asked curiously. Now that he was given the opportunity he would try and take it.

'Most probably, but it's sure to consume a lot of your magic particles.' Matt replied, hesitatingly saying it.

Felix grew impatient, he couldn't keep his weapon awakened for a long while either which was his drawback. If he couldn't finish Max in the few minutes he was able to maintain the awakening then he would lose because of exhaustion.

'Just do it!' Max urged, it didn't matter if he used all of his power right this moment, he would at least be able to win this match with some luck along with this ability.

'Alright then, hold on.' Matt began concentrating on this strange feeling that he couldn't identify while Max began feeling warm. The magic particles inside his body began traveling towards his right hand and into the shield at an amazing pace.

He rose his shield once again as he saw Felix coming at him at an incredible speed. A loud thump came with a strong force that tried to push him backward.

Three more thumps resounded, Felix attack continuously trying to force his way through Max's defenses. "What!?" Felix almost yelled in surprise after seeing something. On the shield's surface, black flames arose, enveloping his own, draining them and then extinguishing them.

He felt exhausted all of a sudden and urgently backed down, kneeling while using his sword to support his body from not falling straight to the ground.

"What is that?!!" He yelled at Max before looking towards him. Horror was etched on his face while looking at him. The black flames began enveloping Max's arm just as Felix's flames did before but they felt different from the latter's flames. Denser and more domineering, the feeling that the flames brought gave an omnipotent feeling.
