><>3rd person POV<><
::: Previously: The dark void being had just finished preparing it's small crew of 15 well trained and trusted outlaws. Their plan: to help Herobrine, "The Lord of Darkness," finally kill his brother. :::
[Mild warning: descriptive death]
"Are your men ready?" Herobrine asked over his shoulder, standing in front of a massive Nether Portal next to the dark, humanoid void. It's eyes scrunched to show joy.
"Are yours?" It asked playfully. The void had no armor on, but Herobrine was fully suited in obsidian armor with some diamond and gold decorating on it. The Lord of Darkness simply nodded, and raised his new enchanted obsidian sword. Millions of shouts echoed through the Nether from the armies ready at the portal gates. Dramatically, Herobrine sent his arm -- holding the sword -- forward like the hand of a clock, and his armies rushed forward like a flood of iron and leather through the massive portals.
The being got in the fighting spirit too, "CHARGE!!" it shouted in joy, leaping through the portal with Herobrine. On the immediate other side of the portal where it's crew, all geared up and ready for a fight, marveling at the armies spilling out of the portals like liquid. The massive Nether Portals all ringed around a large castle made of light and colorful blocks, mostly quartz. The terrain was a basic forest, nothing special about it. Good thing too, because the moment the armies poured through, they made it known by setting everything in sight on fire. Hordes of zombie pigmen held flint and steel in their hands, and would keep using this until they either broke, or combating soldiers came their way. After that, it would be a full-on war.
And that it became.
The dark being ran into battle besides Herobrine, his trusty crew on all sides around him. When the enemy armies came, all Nether broke loose. Explosions rattled the ground. War cries were shouted every second. The evil snorts and squeals of the pigmen nauseating. It was impossible to call it a little tussle. The void felt it had chosen it's crew correctly as it watched Herobrine's soldiers fall left and right, seemingly worthless, while it's own group patrolled one another's flanks, making sure everyone stayed unharmed.
"There he is! Keep watch over the ground! I got this!" Herobrine ordered the humanoid void once he saw a dot hover up into the sky. Herobrine then flew low, below the trees. Finally, when he reached the other side of the castle, as close to the floating object as possible, he shot strait up at it, getting in the first deadly blow on it from below. When he came back down on the floating thing however, it blocked. The floating object was a man. It was Notch.
The void did as it was told: keeping with it's crew, quickly making it's way towards the castle; for inside the castle was one of the most important objects the other side possessed. When it came to Notch versus Herobrine, Notch had a MASSIVE advantage over him in the form of respawning. This ability was kept in the form of a large object in the middle of the thickest - walled room in the center of the castle. This object, no one really knew what it was. But they all knew where it was. Destroy this, and Notch would be put back on the same playing field as Herobrine.
The void and it's crew fought their way skillfully through the army of humans trying to protect their pitiful god. The void only got more excited as it came closer to the castle. Finally, the group reached one of the walls to the large building. While the being and a few others debated how to get in, the rest fought off the unrelenting soldiers. Thankfully, Herobrine's army was there to help too.
"I say we blow a few holes in this wall." One of the thinkers smiled mischievously.
"O-o-oh yeah!" The void being agreed excitedly. The one who suggested it then pulled out some TNT and placed a few blocks along the wall. Everyone backed up knowingly as he then lit the first block. One by one there was a chain reaction of explosions down the wall, and the Nether Forces had multiple entrance points.
"Ha-haa-h'yah!! I can't believe that worked so well!!" The one who suggested it exclaimed, putting away the flint and steel and replacing it with his tipped arrows. Everyone else cheered and high-fived in celebration.
"Not there yet though, guys!" The being coaxed joyfully; it would be smiling if it ever could. The crew then followed the being into the castle and through the halls, down some stairs, almost getting lost in more halls, before finally reaching the obsidian casing of the innermost room.
"I got this, guys!" One of them smiled as he pulled out an enchanted diamond pickaxe. It was taking way too long for him though, and they could hear enemy soldiers running their way.
"Hurry!" One shouted. Not helping any.
"I got you covered!" A couple shouted, pulling out their swords and facing where the enemy would be storming in.
"Looks like I might be needed too." Someone with a bow aimed towards the enemy lines, ready to let go of his quiver.
"I can help with the wall." Another man offered, pulling out a normal diamond pickaxe. A couple others pull out their pickaxes too to help. Meanwhile, the void started conjuring up a spell hopefully strong enough to destroy whatever was in that room. It liked so much how everyone worked together as one. Surely, this strategy was better than an entire army. This was a group that it trusted. A group it had spent time memorizing each and every one of their names. A group it knew all they could and couldn't handle. Surely, they were unstoppable...
"Almost there! I can feel it!" The first miner exclaimed. the wall was actually three blocks thick; all a very compact obsidian. "Oh yeah! I see something!" He shouted once light broke through the wall. Beams of bright blue light leapt out of the room, making it seem like there was a disco party going on inside the room. They then together broke through just enough for one person to fit through. That person was the dark void figure.
"Go on, man! Win this for us!"
"I can't wait to earn that, sweet moolah.."
"What are you looking to buy?"
"A castle of course! You?"
"I want to buy the shiniest ring known to man, and give it to my sweet sweet love."
"Hey, guys! This dude's got himself a lady!"
"What?!"
"You never told us this before!"
"It's still pretty new, guys!"
"Ah, I see. Trying to impress the girl, aye?"
"Well, duh!"
"Guys, shhhh!" The dark figure hushed the crew, stepping into the room where it would need all it's focus. Everyone stood silently and waited anxiously. The spell it had been conjuring up took the form of a dark purple mass with black substance surrounding it. This ball of matter slowly grew bigger as the void focused more and more. Slowly, it inched closer to the large sphere that emitted the blue light. It looked like pure light energy.
The being closed it's eyes tightly, the energy strain causing physical pain, and it threw the dark matter substance into the giant blue sphere. The light energy seemed to absorb the darkness at first, compressing it's matter at it's core. But then, the darkness seeped through these invisible binds like a hole had been made in it's shell, and slowly the darkness completely consumed the light from the inside out.. There was an odd moment of silence. Everyone held their breaths.
KA'BOOOM!
In a last attempt to win, the once light sphere imploded and finally erupted in an earth-shaking explosion. The shockwave continued on for several biomes before finally fading.
..The castle, was nothing but a pile of rubble. Notch and his armies nowhere to be seen...
"YES!" We won, Null! We WON!!!" Herobrine shouted as he flew down from the sky. Notch had not died, instead, he had used his remaining energy for the day to teleport him and his army to safety, but it was still a grand victory in Herobrine's eyes. He began looking around with a slightly worried expression as he scanned over the rubble. When he heard some movement below, his head snapped in that direction to see what it was.
It was Null. The dark void; wiggling it's way out of the wreckage in dark-matter form. Once it was above the stone that had fallen on it, the void quickly snapped to humanoid form, and rubbed it's aching head. It's dim glowing eyes looked tired as it searched for it's comrades. It eventually saw some recognizable characters amongst the rubble, which was mostly just stone bricks and normal stone kicked up from under the castle.
"..Guys?. Guys!" It's eyes scrunched tiredly with excitement as it began running across the wreckage to them, making tired but determined jumps occasionally to get there. Once it reached it's crew however, it's eyes widened. Many of them had scorch marks all over them. For some, it was so bad that a few layers of skin had even been peeled off by the blast. Many had large boulders resting on their chests and were bleeding out of control. Worst of all, none of them were moving. Not even a single one of them moved in the calm breathing pattern Null was so used to seeing humans and human-like immortals do. The figure was suddenly so bewildered.
"Wh- what's wrong? Why are they not getting back up? They should be up by now!" Null began to panic, knowing something was wrong, but not quite sure what. Herobrine slowly hovered down beside his confused friend, looking at the bodies as if they were only that.
"Hhhhhh, they're dead. Don't worry. It's a natural thing humans do." He explained, no sympathy in his voice.
"NATURAL?! Not moving isn't NATURAL!!. When will they stop being dead?" Null turned to Herobrine in a panic, pleading with it's eyes for help of some kind.
"Never. They will eventually decompose and turn into soil." Herobrine told his pal, no real compassion since he didn't know exactly what should be said. He figured Null would have known this by now. He figured the dark void wouldn't even care. How Null was reacting was unlike any reaction he had ever seen from an immortal before, and he was quite intrigued with it.
"No! I don't want them to be dirt! I have to help them. I have to save them! How do I stop them from being dead?!" The void looked desperately between Herobrine and it's fallen crew.
"No, you can't just bring them back to life! They're DEAD! Their spirits have already left them!" Herobrine tried to explain further, annoyed that Null was so persistent in knowing what was going on. He had never had to explain death before, especially to another immortal.
"I thought you said their souls stay with them; that is how you are able to recall the memories of the dead after all!" Null pleaded with it's eyes for a way out of this pain.
"There is a difference between a soul and a spirit!" Herobrine shouted in frustration.
"I don't believe you! They have to be in there somewhere!!" Null, being persistent, hoped Herobrine was lying.
To grab Null's full attention, Herobrine dropped to the ground and grabbed his pal by the shoulders, shaking it violently for it to pay attention to him and not the questions as much. "LISTEN!! There is a difference between the immortal and mortal! Immortal don't die, while mortal DO! Now just understand this already and move on!"
"No!" Null fell back from Herobrine's firm grip, still in disbelief. "There has to be a way to fix this! Th- there just has to!! I can't leave them out here all alone! W- what if their spirits come back?!"
"Hhhh, that isn't how it works. Those who die, STAY DEAD.. There is no way to bring them back... I'm sorry..." Herobrine finally showed some sympathy, his face that had been dead-set on winning, finally softening to see through Nulls eyes as best as he could. Looking at the dark void, full of emotions it had never felt before, Herobrine saw just how odd this being was. Not only did it have a strange fascination with humans, but it also had successfully bonded with not just one, but fifteen. Something NO immortal had ever been able to do before.
With his soft look and new realization, Herobrine set a gentle hand on Nulls shoulder, getting it's attention. It wasn't often that the two were so close and not in a heated battle. Seeing the two side by side, you could clearly tell Herobrine was actually a bit taller than the dark void. The darkness around it usually made it hard for a size comparison.
They both locked eyes before Herobrine spoke softly. "You have a gift.. You know that right?" Null only lowered it's head before nodding again. "Well, as you can see.. this gift of yours can be dangerous." He said, gesturing to the bodies behind his pal. Null nodded again slowly, not having anything to say. "Whatever you are feeling inside, can hurt you.. it can hurt those around you.. it can hurt me." He said 'me' with a little firmness to regain the void's attention. "So how about you try to control this? Whatever, you are feeling, reduce it down to a minimum. Okay?" He pat Null once on the shoulder at the end, gaining his smile and happy voice. Null thought for a moment. Then it looked back at it's crew. Herobrine was right. That feeling, was painful. From that point on, Null would have to make sure it never felt that way again. Not about anything, or anyone, ever, again. Especially mortals.
