><>3rd person POV<><
::: Previously: Null and it's band of humans fought beside Herobrine in the great war against Notch to take away his ability to "respawn." Though this mission successful, it was won at a great cost, especially for Null. All the members of it's crew, it's friends, were all dead by the end of it. Null, was devastated. :::
The dark void sat alone on the thick railing of the balcony to the room it was given. Above it were bright twinkling stars, failing to make the immortal feel any better. As much as it tried, Null could not stop the pain it felt inside. It had no idea how to get rid of it, why it was hurting so badly. In it's hands, Null loosely held one of it's old friends' blades: a well-enchanted iron sword, with only a few scratches on it from yesterday's battle. The void couldn't cry, but it would if it were human.. if only it knew what these feelings meant.
"Oh, come on, Null.. Still moping about the mortals' deaths? I thought you were past that already." Herobrine sighed, walking out onto the balcony.
"What?! N- no! I'm not moping!" Null snapped up, changing mood immediately.
"Oh really? Then how come you still have one of the swords from your squad?" Herobrine pointed out, one hand on hip and his face showing disapproval.
"Whaat, this?! It's- it's just the enchantments that interest me!" Null spoke up, pretending to be looking closely at the shiny enchantment effects all of a sudden.
"Hhhh, Null, you know I can read minds, right?" Herobrine face-palmed. Nulls eyes widened, but it finally sighed, slouched, giving up the act.
"Alright, fine! I guess I still do feel mopy. But, I have tried to stop it! I really have! But.. the memories just keep coming back and making me hurt all over again..." Null gave in, voicing the pain it felt inside.
"See? This is why we don't make friends with mortals.. They only ruin our emotional state." Herobrine grumbled, walking up and leaning his elbows on the railing beside Null.
"I still don't quite get it.." Null spoke questionably. Herobrine's eyes flickered as he shot a harsh glare towards Null.
"Listen. It is this simple! Mortals, DIE! Immortals, DON'T. If immortals become friends with mortals, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE CONSEQUENCES." Herobrine snapped, startling his friend.
"Woah, woah.. chill, bro. I was just voicing my confusion... "Null jumped in defense. "Wait a minute.." Null tilted it's head, looking deeply into Herobrine's glowing eyes. "You learned this from personal experience, didn't you?" It asked. It was Herobrine's turn to jump back in defense.
"I said nothing of the sort!" Herobrine's eyes flashed in fear. That only made Null's own glowing white eyes scrunch with a little ounce of it's version of a smile.
"Oh, I don't need to be able to read minds to see that you are hiding something." Nulls voice spoke playfully as it stepped a couple steps towards Herobrine. Herobrine took a few steps back in response, bumping into some railing and looking down to see all the way down to the lava mote around his Over World castle. "Now are you going to tell me about it -- or not?" Null said casually, sitting it'self down on the thick railing of the balcony, watching Herobrine patiently. It took a moment for Herobrine to mentally recover from the void's calm attitude, at first thinking Null was going to threaten him. Herobrine smiled slightly at the realization, standing straight again, but Null didn't smile. It just watched it's friend patiently for an answer. The staring in itself was a little scary. But, Herobrine understood Null's curiosity. Afterall, if he had just figured out someone else had already gone through something he was struggling with, he would probably look to them for help too. Eventually, Herobrine gave in and decided to help Null out. It was a pretty trustworthy friend anyways. He could trust Null wouldn't go about gossiping.
"Alright, fine, you win. I'll tell you a little secret. But, you can't tell anyone, ever." Herobrine laid out the one rule. The dark being's eyes scrunched and it's head nodded vigorously.
"You mean you really did have a human friend?! How?! Who were they?! What happ-"
"Woah, woah, stories have to actually be told, you know?" Herobrine chuckled. "Alright.." Herobrine thought for a moment, recalling old memories. "It was a long time ago. Back in the days when it was only me, Notch, and a couple hundred humans in existance.-"
"Did any animals exist?!"
"SHHHH! Yes! There were animals! Now just listen. I will answer questions afterward... It was a long time ago. I, was a young creator, having only helped my brother make things, not actually having anything to call my own. That all changed however when I met her.. She, she was a beautiful young mortal lady. She had long almost white hair that flowed in the wind beautifully, and anything she wore looked great on her." Herobrine sighed, recalling the memories of her. "Once we were married, she was really the only thing I even cared about. My one and only, Glisten.." Null half wanted to laugh at Herobrine's face, a face he had never seen before. Was it, a love-stricken face? It didn't really know. "..Anyway, together we had three mortal children. Two beautiful daughters and a son who looked so much like me. I would sometimes for fun call him 'Hero of My Heart.' That would always make him smile..." Then, Herobrine's face slowly shifted to a sour expression, both angry and sad at once. "But, little did I understand the difference between mortals and immortals back then.. You see, as my family grew, I stayed the same. My own children reached my perceivable age and passed me.. Not even a full one hundred years later they had all died of natural causes. Any grandchildren I had, grew distant and eventually I couldn't even tell who was my family and who wasn't. After a while, I returned to Notch, where I stayed locked away in my old bedroom for several years straight... I had no family anymore. I cared about nothing anymore.." He ended with a harsh growl. "Those feelings, slowly built up, more and more, until eventually, I couldn't control my rage. I took my anger out on a forest not too far from a town. Everyone saw it as a threat. Everyone saw me, as a threat. Notch even told me I should go back in my room and think things through. But no, I couldn't! Not after I had already spent so many years in there. It only felt like a prison to me, maybe even worse.. And that's when I made the switch. From then on, it was just me against the universe."
Herobrine ended, right before getting up and stomping off. "Do you now see what mortals can really do to you?! They make you rethink everything!.." Herobrine growled, leaving, slamming the door to the balcony so it was only Null in the starlight, still with no idea about that to do next..
