Marine Headquarters, Marineford

Marine Headquarters, Marineford.

The crescent-shaped harbor, the mountain-like walls, the battleships surrounding it, the soldiers with their guns standing at attention all speak to the world of peace and order.

Although the Pirate King's public execution two years ago made the Marine a laughing stock to many, most ordinary people only saw the fact that the Pirate King was executed.

Because of this, while the sea situation was getting worse and more eroded, the power of the Marine was also at an unprecedented peak, so much so that many people even knew only the Marine Headquarters and not the World Government.

Of course, that doesn't sit well with Longinus, and maybe the higher-ups in the Marine never had anything else in mind, but that doesn't mean those politicians in the World Government think that way either.

Looking at the seagull banner that fluttered in the wind, Longinus was not yearning for the glory of the world as the others were. Still, it was using the future trajectory of the foreign soul's memory to analyze the chaotic nature of the age.

While the World Government has many direct subordinate agencies, the only three core agencies announced to the public are the Enies Lobby, Impel Down, and the Marine Headquarters.

However, Enies Lobby, one of the same three institutions, was said to have been destroyed simply because Spandam accidentally launched Buster Call, theoretically on the same level as Marine Headquarters.

As one of the three major agencies, Impel Down, Chief Warden Magellan, was supposed to be on the same level as the Admiralty by position. Still, he was the one who volunteered to ask for death from Sengoku after the major incident.

It was clear from these things that among all the World Government's subordinate agencies, the Marine Headquarters was undoubtedly the one with the highest status, even implicitly half a level higher than the other agencies.

"The World Government will never sit back and watch the Marine threaten its position, as evidenced by using Akainu to cause a split and then kicking him out in twenty years later."

"The conflict between the government and the marine might have erupted even more violently if the booming Revolutionary Army hadn't held much of the government's energy in check."

"The relationship between the pirates, the Marine, and the government is finally in complete chaos after the introduction of the revolutionary army. The seeds of revolution seem to have been quietly planted by Dragon after witnessing the execution of the pirate king."

"So the riots of the future of that era played their prelude two years ago!" Longinus looked towards the Marine Headquarters that symbolized absolute justice and quietly clenched his fist, "It's exciting to see who will write the history of the future!"

The arrival of the two warships instantly caused a commotion in the harbor, for no other reason than that the warship marked "G8" was too brutal.

There was no time to wipe the blood from the warship and even less time to repair the damage caused by the battle between Commodore Morgan and the two pirate captains.

If it weren't for the fact that there were still some spare supplies onboard the warship belonging to G2, the miserable warship would have sunk into the sea because of that shocking blow by Longinus.

Soon, the Headquarters Captain in charge of the duty trotted over. He was naturally no stranger to marine officers above Captain's rank and gave a standard salute before asking: "Commodore Morgan, you're ..."

Commodore Morgan shook his head, "I'll explain to Admiral Sengoku myself, these are the recruits that the G2 and G8 branches sent to the camp, so please take them to the barracks and settle in."

The Captain on duty was startled, and though he had some doubts, his military qualities kept him from asking more questions.

"Yes!" The Captain replied solemnly, then with a gentle glance at the men behind Morgan, said, "You can come with me, just call me Senpai Hughes."

"Senpai?" Gregory and the others looked at each other, a little uncomfortable with the name-calling.

"Captain Hughes is also from Boot Camp, but five years older than you guys. He's an excellent cadet from boot camp, ask him if you guys don't know anything more."

"How am I a good cadet, and Commodore Morgan had better not make fun of me."

"Don't think that I don't know anything, Admiral Zephyr has always been strict, it's not easy to graduate from the boot camp smoothly, so naturally you're called an excellent student." Commodore Morgan squared up, "I'm also giving you a heads up, don't ever think that you can rest easy by entering the training camp. That's where the challenges of your life begin."

Gregory and the others were used to being hit. They had long since gotten used to placing themselves at the bottom of the food chain, so naturally, they wouldn't think that boot camp would be a comfortable place to go, but still, they were grateful, "Thank you, Commodore Morgan, for the advice!"

"I'll leave you then, expecting to be a competent marine by the time I see you again in three years!"

"Okay, so everyone follows me ... Wait, that student you're going the wrong way!" Captain Hughes, who was about to give his apprentice a briefing on the boot camp, saw that someone had even departed from the direction to Commodore Morgan's side, and was speechless and hurriedly shouted at the same time.

Commodore Morgan turned back to see Captain Hughes looking at Longinus with a strange look and quickly explained, " Captain Hughes, why don't you take them to boot camp first, while Ensign Longinus and I have a trip to see Admiral Sengoku."

"Huh?" Seeing Commodore Morgan walk away from them, Captain Hughes, still somewhat underwhelmed, said, rather skeptical of life, "Did I correctly hear that he's an Ensign at such a young age? What rank was I when I first entered the training camp, like warrant officer?"

Captain Hughes even had a rather dark thought in his mind, "Going to see the Top Leader on the first day of the report. He's not the bastard son of Celestial Dragon, is he?"

Seeing that Captain Hughes had joined the ranks of those who doubted life, Gregory gloated, " Senpai Hughes, there's no comparison between a man and a monster. If Ensign Longinus hadn't been so young, and if he hadn't usually been distributing too much credit to us, he would have been a Captain by now."

"Captain?" Captain Hughes had a "you're fucking kidding me" black question mark look on his face.

"Hey! Like out of the eight of us in G2, me, Abraham, and Algernon are in the rank of Ensign, and several others are already in the rank of Warrant Officer as well." Gregory flaunted.

Captain Hughes stopped talking and thought sadly, "I wasn't an outstanding cadet, I suppose I was able to graduate because someone opened the back door for me, right?"

Fortunately, the six members of G8 gave him the last psychological comfort.

"Is your G2 branch of the military so easy to get around? There's even only one Ensign out of the six of us, Arnold, and all the others are still Warrant Officers, so that's a big difference!"

Gregory got upset and said, "What do you mean we G2's military is easy to get around? Do you know how many pirates we've caught in the last two years with Ensign Longinus?"

The six G8 members who were pretty much holding their own, said, "I don't know."

"Hmph, the pirates we've captured can add up to a circle around the headquarters, the accumulated amount of the various bounties also exceeds 500 million. And we've been named the most popular Marine in G2 many times in a row ... cough cough, I forgot, this is boss alone, it has nothing to do with us."

"Good ... is awesome!" G8 six people's eyes beamed, so is this not just a sturdy thigh but also a sturdy and generous thigh?

"Eh? Senpai Hughes, why don't you go?" Gregory was surprised to see Captain Hughes ducking into a corner.

Captain Hughes looked sad and angry and said, "Don't call me senpai. I'm not your senpai!"
