Nine Levels of Angels

Seraphim

- six-winged 'fiery' angels that surround God and reveres God and proclaim His glory. Considering that they had six wings; two wings were used to cover their faces. They considered themselves unworthy to look upon the face of God, two wings to cover their feet because they refused to reveal any unclean aspects to God, and two wings to fly.

Cherubim

- four living creatures of brilliant light and great speed with four faces; man, ox, lion, and eagle. They guard God's glory on earth, heaven, and help people grow spiritually by delivering God's mercy to them and motivating them to pursue more holiness in their lives.

Thrones

- They are known for their wonderful minds. They regularly contemplate the will of God and, with their strong intellect, work to understand that knowledge and to figure out how to apply it in practical ways. They acquire great wisdom in this process.

Dominions

- Dominion angels are known to deliver the justice of God to unjust situations, to show mercy to human beings. They are a group of angels that keeps the world in order.

Virtues

- Known for their work encouraging human beings to strengthen their faith I God. The main method the virtues use to do this is by sending positive thoughts of peace and hope to people's minds. When people are awake, they can see such encouraging messages, especially during times of stress.

Powers

- Warrior Angels are considered to be defending against evil, defending not only the cosmos but also humanity. They are called powers because of their ability to restrain power od demons and cast out evil promoted by the enemy.

Principalities

- They watch over large groups and institutions, including nations and the Church, directly. They also ensure that the divine will is fulfilled. While these angels are still wise and powerful, they are farthest from God in the angel hierarchy, so that they are better able to communicate with man in ways we can understand.

Archangels

- Great herald of good news. They deliver important messenger to mankind and the ones that communicate to us.

Angels

- The angels are close to the material world and human beings. They also deliver prayers to God and other messages to people on earth. One of the greatest characteristics of angels is that they are most caring and social in helping those who ask for help.
