Ch.4

"Alpha?" Clay asked "what's that?"

"It's a creature that once it reaches lvl 250 has a small chance to 'evolve' and change" Sara replied with air quotes "but luckily the price of a creature becoming an alpha is high, they hunt there own kind and loses there elemental affinity."

"Wait. Creatures can have elemental affinity too?" Clay inquired.

"Yes, after lvl 100 creatures have a chance at awakening it and being able to harness it" she responds.

Shaking her head Sara walked out the door.

"You might have to help us so be ready, alphas aren't a breeze to fight and some people will die." Sara commanded.

"Ok."

"Also, Clay I know he sent you into a very dangerous place but go see Fred about some weapons." She sighed finally leaving from sight.

Clay got up and started looking through the room. It was a small cottage that held nothing but a bed, few small cabinets, and a wardrobe.

'Very rustic indeed' Clay thought. Looking at the wooden interior and low ceilings with a couple flicking lamps around.

'It's night already?' He wondered 'how long was I out and where am I, probably should have asked before she left.'

Returning to the bed Clay feel asleep. He had a strange dream, a cave calling to him beckoning him to come to see the mystery's it holds. Ancient ruins where scattered in front of the entrance and giant spiders could be seen roaming around for prey and making there homes.

'What was that about?' Clay wondered, the cave it called to him a feeling he couldn't put to words came over him.

Getting out of the bed he left the cottage.

"Huh, it was so dark I couldn't see that I was in the village." He muttered. Walking down the road he finally arrived at his destination.

'Franks Finest Everything'

"Well at least I can complete that task for him now." Clay said to himself.

Pushing open the front door he was greeted by Frank with a huge smile on his face that didn't quite reach his eyes.

"My friend, do you have the flowers by chance?" He asked.

"Of course I do, but why didn't you tell me the swamp was so dangerous!" He demanded

"Mah, I thought you knew." He responded "oh well, now where are the flowers?"

"Here." Clay said. He grabbed the flowers out of his inventory and drop them on the counter.

"That's a strange storage device you got there." Frank stated before greedily grabbing the flowers.

"A deal is a deal, you may chose what ever you want." Frank said.

"Sara told me to get weapons so whatcha got?" Clay asked.

Frank motioned around "crossbows, normal bows, wooden spears, a few metal spears too, and a sword." He replied.

"Do you have guns?" Clay asked genuinely curious if this world had guns or not.

"Bah, were far too remote to have the resources to build guns." He stated "if you want guns you need to go near the capital."

"I'm still new to this all." Clay said motioning around "what type of guns is there?"

"Long barreled rifle is the most common along with the simple hand gun that shoots metal pellets and a basic shotgun, then the fancier weapons are the sniper rifle, handgun, pump shotgun, and the assault rifle those are what different country's military use." He replied.

"Why use swords and spears then?" Clay wondered.

"You can shoot someone in the chest plate 5 times or stab them once, which seems easier?" He asked.

"True I guess..." Clay replied.

"Guess I will take the sword and a crossbow?" He asked

"That's 2 things I said one." Frank stated holding up his finger.

"You sent me to a very dangerous place with no weapon, you owe me more then one thing." Clay retorted.

"Fine, you can have both and ammo for your crossbow." He grumbled "happy?"

"Yes, thank you." He replied

Clay walked out of the shop with his new weapons when a new screen appeared

Walking down the gravel streets he finally found a vendor selling food, a soup like substance that was called callitin soup.

"I don't have money but how many of these flowers is this soup worth?" Clay asked sheepishly.

The vendors jaw dropped "where did you get these?" He asked "I will give you a weeks worth of soup for the 5."

"What! There worth that much?" Clay said stunned.

"Oh yes they are a very important ingredient in many potions."

"Huh that's interesting, ok well I will be going" Clay wandered off toward elder Luke's hut.

Arriving in front of his house Clay entered and was immediately bumping into elder Luke who looked like the have gone the last week with out sleep.

"We must go now Clay, the alpha has gotten too close." Dragging Clay by the arm they headed towards the gates of the wooden wall.
