Day: 2

Walking out of the cafeteria the group decided to go to the library for free time, having not visited it yet Clay was curious with what it had. The building was a two story townhouse about as large as a football stadium, grey shingles sat upon a light brown wooden exterior, two massive doors greeted them with beautiful symbols carved into them depicting stories of both man and animal. The inside was a bookworms dream with hundreds of shelves filled to the brim stretching from floor to ceiling.

'Wow.' Clay thought in amazement.

"Welcome to the academy's library! Is there anything I can help you with?" An old lady of about 70 asked.

"Oh no thank you. We're just gonna browse and chat."

"Alright."

Walking down the halls the group finally found a lounge area, a couple second and third years mulled about studying for their class or reading. Clay went up to the dozens of shelves and started to browse for something interesting to read.

A book with a red cover called to Clay, it's surface a shining crimson that glistened in the lamp light, the pages inside were old and musty have been worn down by time.

—Legend of the highboorne's—

"2000 years ago lived a family of mages. Some of the most powerful in the world, many having control of all the elements and the legendary ones. They became the marshals of world order, keeping everything in line and preventing anything from causing a mass extinction event. Legend says the original Highboornes grew so powerful they went on to challenge gods and demons alike, killing pantheon after pantheon before leaving the worlds to its own devices without interference of any gods. 500 years ago they disappeared from the universe leaving no trace of what happened, many speculate they finally found an opponent that killed them off. The last highboorne was named Jasper appearing for a few years during the war only to disappear after closing all the portals. Little is known of what happened through the portals and what caused the disappearance of over 30 million soldiers."

"Jasper was his name? How has no one ever read this book?"

Excusing himself Clay walked to the front desk.

"Hi I was wondering if I could take out this book?" He asked.

She looked at him in confusion. "You know that books blank right? There's nothing in it."

"Oh... Can I take it anyways?"

"Sure. You can keep it for all I care. I meant to get rid of it anyways." She said with a dismissive wave.

"Alright thank you!" Walking back to where the group was sitting Eric was the first to notice what he was holding.

"What's that?" He asked.

"Oh just an interesting book I found." Clay replied.

Glancing at the clock he realized it was about curfew and that the library was about to close.

"Well I should really head out. See you all tomorrow." Clay sunk into his own shadow only to re-emerge in his dorm.

'I don't get it. My ancestors are from this planet but I'm not? And they went on to kill gods?' Clay sat in his bed thinking about everything that was revealed to him barely wrapping his head around it all. 'This world too, nothing makes sense. The fact they have things from both the 18th and 20th century amazes me, almost like they advanced but never bothered to change the architecture or weapons of war? Like really? Swords and bows for Pete's sake but there's guns?!?' Rubbing the bridge of his nose Clay decided it was time for much needed sleep.

It was a strange dream, trees of ash lay around a shattered mountain. In the centre of it all sat a man, bright white beard showed signs of aging even with his skin unblemished by both time and elements.

"Good you have finally come back, it's been years jasper." The old man said with a smile.

"I'm not jasper, I'm Clay."

"My my you are a spitting image of him, definitely his blood. That a shame he didn't come back." The old man said with a frown. "Say would you mind finding out what happened to him?"

"Now when you have it come back here."

"How? I'm dreaming aren't I?" He asked.

"You will figured it out and make sure you stop by that cave soon." He said with a smirk. "Now I think your pretty friend is trying to wake you."

Waking up he found Ella standing above him.

"I almost had to pour water on you, thought you might be dead." She said.

"I'm up now." He mumbled feeling drained from lack of rest, sleep was a fantasy one Clay couldn't achieve even in a coma.

Dressing for the day Clay walked into the kitchen to find a plate of bagels and fruit on the counter.

"Where does this food come from?" He asked Noah.

"They drop it off in the mornings since not everyone has time to head to the cafeteria."

"Huh."

Grabbing the food he walked through the walls shadow only to re-emerge on the ceiling.

'Woah bit off I guess...' He thought. Teleporting down he found the same seat as the day before and waited sitting in the empty class reviewing the notes.

A figure pushed open the door and sat down beside Clay.

"Your...special. And that's so cool!" The person turned to Clay shaking their hands in excitement. "You have got to teach me. I'm a light user and really need help."

Clay glanced up at the guy sitting there. "Oh hi. I could maybe help but..."

"Really! That would be great! Oh I'm Darnice by the way."

"Uh nice to meet you Darnice, I'm Clay."

"Everyone knows your name Clay, your like only the most powerful student here. I'm a major fan."

'Oh no... I really wanted to keep I'm time here quiet, but I mean everything I have done so far draws attention.'

As more students started to trickle in Clay saw the professor walk in and put a stack of text books on the desk.

"Welcome back."
