Ch.23

A mass of tumorous flesh sat there, dozens of mouths gaping in pain. Around the room gasps could be heard as many couldn't stand to see such a creature.

"It may look horrific but it was by far the deadliest of the reapers with a single queen wiping out entire legions of troops with a horrific type of magic that used blood as its fuel. It's weakness was minimal mobility with the only way to kill being near orbit bombardment as its extreme magic aura nullified any spell that was formed near it. This lead to the creation of the Heavens Strike one the most elite long range mage squads in humanity army, they were responsible for the decimation of 2300 of the 3000 queens."

"On this topic I want to talk about the first king and leader of the Heavens Strike, Nomaen Asen the only known mage to have the most destructive spells imaginable, Lights Purity."

Clay pondered a serious question he had about it. 'What if they weren't the good guy? A villain could have killed millions.'

"This is the spells information card." Pulling out a large book he flipped to a seemingly random page and started reading.

"Lights purity: Only the most pure of heart and strong of leaders can posses this spell. Upon activation it drops a beam of holy light in a 20km by 20km area burning anything considered cruel or evil at heart. 10,000 mana and 5 minutes of concentration per use. *upgraded version of lights truth."

'Oh, I guess even this place recognizes that evil can't go unchecked.' Clay thought. "Buts truly evil? Is a solider fighting for his country evil or the poor man who stole for his family?" He asked aloud.

"That's a great philosophical question but please refrain from speaking out." The professor responded.

"Anyways for your project please chose a group of 3. You are to go to the library and study one reaper variant and one of the island many creatures to create a document on your findings. Alright good luck."

"Hey Eric wanna go with me and John?" Clay asked.

"Ya."

"Barkeep where's my beer!" A man drunkenly yelled out. A meaty fist slammed in the table turning it to splinters.

"Don't you know who I am?" The man asked.

"Sorry my lord but have seem to have ran out." A cowering bartender responded.

"Well it seems I'm gonna need one of you waitresses to entertain me." A primal look of lust entered his eye.

"But my lord it's only my daughter tonight!"

"That's a shame isn't it." He smiled, striking the man across the room he grabbed the young girls arm.

"Let go of me you barbarian!" She cried desperately trying to escape his firm grasp.

"Not till I've had my fun." He growled out.

"I would let go you know. It's about time someone put you in your place with the rest of the trash." A voice came from the doorway.

"Mister run! lord barous is not kind to those who stand against him!" The girl screamed.

"You have got balls. Not many dare face me."

"I'm ready for change." Stepping into the room the figure drew their dagger, only a scowl was visible through the hood.

The drunken man let go of the young maidens arm as she scurried to help her father. "Imma give you one chance to-" his sentence was cut short as a body fell to the floor with a thud.

"You have no need to worry about him now." He softly spoke to the frightened People.

"What was that? You didn't even move."

"Right you can't see that, Here." Pulling off an intricately designed ring a wave of suffocating power filled the room. Retracting it instantly he looked around sheepishly.

"You- your a monster!" Someone screamed.

"No! I'm simply a man who wishes for change. This kingdom has fallen to far, corruption seeping into every crook it can fill. The poor only get poorer as those who rule have more then they would ever need! Today is the first public declaration of the people's army. Spread the word, the rumours, the lies, make them fear us! Does anyone wish to change this kingdom?" An awkward silence filled the room as everyone shifted from foot to foot.

"Count me in young man. I've owned this bar for years and I can't stand by any longer as this kingdom crumples around us." The barkeep stood up and announced. Slowly one by one others in the bar gained the courage to join many of them stating the flaws they found in the rulers leadership.

"Now will you tell us your name young man."

"I'm Nikos, Nikos Airus."

The old mans eyes became wet with tears, he looked smiling at the man. "The people's eternal champion." He whispered to himself.

"What was that?" His daughter asked.

Wiping the tears from his eyes he answered her. "Nothing, we just might finally see some change."
